Training DONA birth doulas.

History

Established in 2005.

Open Heart Doula Training is a DONA International approved training for birth doulas. DONA International is the oldest, largest, and most respected doula association in the world. DONA International certification is a widely respected measure of quality and professionalism for doulas. Carol chose DONA International for their high quality of education for doulas, their established code of ethics and standard of practice which gives doulas clear guidelines on their responsibilities to clients, colleagues, the profession and society. For more information about DONA International, visit their website: www.dona.org.

Carol has trained over 90 doulas in the bay area since 2005. Each training is limited to 8 women. The class meets twice per week over five weeks (totaling 30 hours). This allows new doulas the opportunity to get to know each other and prepares them to support pregnant women and their partners with confidence and skill.

I’m passionate about how important birth is for women and their babies. Every woman should have a doula by her side when giving birth! I love passing my knowledge about childbirth onto new doulas and prospective parents through my doula training and childbirth classes. I have worked as a birth doula for over twenty years. I became an ICEA approved childbirth educator shortly after I became a doula and continue to teach childbirth classes through Loving Arms Childbirth Services. I have also worked as a post-partum doula and infant massage instructor.
