I had to return some items I received for Christmas and was surprised to see such older women behind the registers. At first I thought it was great, but sadly lost patience as it literally took 15 minutes with no line to return my 4 items with a receipt and put the amount on a gift card. For a second I thought I was on that show that gives you $ 100 on MTV if you remain patience. They need to give proper training to their employees. I was given false information twice, in which the manger who was standing 5 feet away had to correct her. I’m not saying this has anything to do with age, but with the way the employees were not trained properly. Besides that, I always wondered why this Pier 1 compared to others looked so trashy and small. But on the inside it’s like any other. Clearance items are without, but I have to say, when I buy something I try and look for the best model they have, and everything had faults. I was looking at a glass vase, and out of the 4 they had they all had a noticeable line in different spots. I guess I’m just picky but this stuck out to me the most. Prices are pretty reasonable however. They did have some sales like 20% and 75% left over christmas stuff.

Bleak. I confess to being a hatah when it comes to this chain, which has a style that is, oh, I dunno, if the Christmas Tree shops decided to dress the set of Mad Men in some future season(I think season 7). Pier 1 actually used to be sort of interesting many eons ago, when you could walk in and be surprised by whatever odd lot fell of the truck that they swooped up from some faraway corner of the earth. Problem is, now, all of our crap is made in some far away corner of the earth, and Ocean State Job Lot does a more interesting(and significantly cheaper) job of finding odd things. I maintain Pier 1 is serving the same«hipster» generation they served 40 years ago — before Crate and Barrel and Ikea in turn filled that niche — the exact same people that is, and now they’re the«hip replacement» generation. As far as this location, the staff are friendly but the store tinier than the other Pier 1s I’ve been to in the area. I don’t know why I keep checking for certain items in these stores, unless my own aging neurons are inducing dementia and I keep forgetting I don’t like this place anymore.
