San & Bada Sushi Bar

This place has the best sushi in Albany. If you come during lunch and sit at the bar, the sushi chef will entertain you while he makes a delicious bento box. The fish here is very fresh. The Korean food is also pretty good but not as interesting as the sushi.

San and Bada is my favorite place to eat in the Albany area. Eddie makes some great sushi. Try the wookie roll NOW! Their Korean dishes are also excellent. It’s a little on the small side so the staff is small. This would explain any long wait time for your food. Its more than worth the wait. Selection of Saki and Japanese beer is also a plus.
5−17−07 Sadly San and Bada closed in late 2006. Another owner has rented and is serving sushi and a Japanese menu. They are called Sushi Yokohama. They are great. I miss Eddie though.

This place is the tops for sushi that I’ve found so far in the capital region. Yummy, big, good pieces, small on the rice, big on the fish. The other dishes I’ve had were good too. One problem: It took friggin’ TWO HOURS for the food to come out! There were probably three other tables full of people. It’s not a big place, but really. Half the food we ordered was just sliced raw fish. Oh well. I’ll definitely go back.
EDIT: Been back, a few times. Excellent every time. For the quality of the food, the prices are excellent. Especially if you come during sushi happy hour, 4:30 to 7:00 I think. Once we did get turned away at the door, though. It was just the guy working, and with three tables full, he couldn’t take any more people in. But now that I understand the time that goes into preparing the dishes, I don’t mind and sometimes enjoy the wait. So, I might have to make this my first five star restaurant! Kudos, San & Bada!
