Established in 1975.
Since the 1960s, cremation has steadily grown as a disposition choice by families in North America, specifically the Northeast.
Having served many families since 1975, Roy F. Bordeau, a New York State licensed funeral director, was noticing the trend. Rather than resisting the change, he embraced it, and envisioned a service dedicated to those who specifically desired simple cremations as an affordable alternative to high cost funerals offered by the traditional funeral homes. «Simple Choices» was founded to meet the needs of those who desired an affordable alternative.

Business Owner
I have been a NYS licensed funeral director since 1975.
I developed an interest in the funeral business at a young age and decided I wanted to become a funeral director. In 1974, I graduated with honors from the Mortuary Science Program at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. I served my state required residency training at the prestigious Marshall W. Tebbutt’s Sons in Albany, NY.
In 1980, I began my trade business, supplying professional services such as embalming and cosmetology to several Capital District-area funeral homes. Although the trade work is very satisfying, I always wanted to operate my own business to benefit the public and so, «Simple Choices» was established because other funeral homes simply charge too much for cremation services. «It is my greatest privilege to assist families in their time of loss and grief. I always considered my profession a vocation rather than a job.»
