subs and grubs… grubby indeed. the chances of me ordering from here again are slim to none. after a few beverages on a random tuesday night out, my BFF and i woke up wanting a sizable breakfast(actually, i was craving jack daniels chicken from friday’s, but alas they don’t deliver). per her suggestion, we decided to give subs & grubs a try. i ordered a steak, egg, and cheese sub, she ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a kaiser roll(they were out of the croissant she really wanted), plus we each got a hash brown. we were surprised that the suggested wait for our delivery was 30 – 45 minutes given it was 10AM on a wednesday, and the shop is roughly six minutes from us… plus, we were ordering BREAKFAST. how long does it take to cook a couple eggs? after a full 45 minute wait, our food arrived. i unwrapped the sub, and took a bite. not bad… but not good either. there was an odd flavor to it; i couldn’t quite place it. i dug back into the bag for my hash brown. i found both items wrapped in one package… one waxed paper and aluminum foil package. needless to say they were SOGGY. and it wasn’t just from steam… they were totally saturated in grease. but that wasn’t enough to stop me from taking a bite… open up and say, DISGUSTING!!! the hash brown had the flavor of the sub times ten. with the help of my friend, we identified it… it’s the taste of a dirty griddle. you know, that nasty, day old, burnt oil flavor? i tossed the hash brown and ate only half of my sandwich. my friend did the same. $ 15 down the toilet.

New Sub Shop between Financial/S&N Pearl Area and the Pastures. Loses points for no pork products(ham, bacon, you know, good stuff). Also loses points for available sides. Everyone should have baked chips at this point. Other funny item of note– Salmon Burger listed under vegetarian. Food– 3.5 Stars Sub was pretty decent. Bread was excellent. Meat was OK, I ordered a roast beef sub and they heated it up, which is not a roast beef sub, that’s a steak sandwich. Not bad not great. Toppings were OK, red onions were cut way too sloppily and thick for a sub. Service– 4 Stars Super nice people inside. Atmosphere– 2 Stars Very small inside, painted bright orange color. Few tables and two of them appeared to be taken by the owner and a friend on their laptops. Claim to have free wifi not sure my phone picked it up.
