Sunset Recreation Bowling Lanes

This is probably one of the better maintained and newer looking bowling alleys in the area to get your bowl on. The alley is kept tidy and bright 8 out of 10 times my friends and I have been here. They do birthday parties on the weekends and kids seem to have a blast. Other times, they are occupied with leagues and it can get very rowdy while lanes aren’t easily given to the walk-​ins.
The alley is really split into two areas, with one that seems to cater to a more mature crowd and is located on one end of their parking lot near the bar/​café area. The other alley can be entered through the opposite parking lot that is closer to the over-​the-​counter snack bar. Either way, you can access the two alleys by taking the long hallway that connects the both… so if you are meeting friends there and cant find them, don’t forget they might be bowling already on the other side!
$ 1 per game/​shoe rental/​pizza slice/​fries/​soda per person on Tues & Wed nights 9pm to 11pm! This attracts more of the younger crowd and college students, and it is always located in the alley near the snack bar. You’ll be glad to find the pizza and fries piping hot and actually quite tasty… not bad at all for a bowling alley. I only wish there was music on the dollar bowling nights, I bet it wouldn’t hurt to make it more fun and lively!

Bought a local flavor $ 20 deal. 2 games of Bowling for 4 with shoes, 8 cut large cheese pizza and pitcher of soda. Great deal. I had two issues. First is Unilocal,their website and the local flavor said they opened at 10am. When we got there the sign said 4pm. So much for a lunch time fun time. We came back at 4:30pm. To our dismay no music, lights or anything. They market themselves as glow bowling. It’s not. Maybe late at night but not from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Gave 3 stars for the great deal.

I went to Sunset for the first time because of a voucher I bought from Amazon Local. The first time I tried to use my voucher, I was trying to do a girls’ night and didn’t realize that they cater primarily to leagues — there were NO lanes open. We had to move on to another location. I successfully used my voucher for another get-​together I had, but I had to make a reservation.
I like this place, but it’s different from other bowling allies. It’s not the kind of place you can just pop into and, as I said, it caters primarily to the leagues. The place is clean, the pizza is good and, judging by the inebriation of the leaguers on the other side of the building, the bar is decent, too.

I was just there today for a friend who was using a groupon… Bowling was fun… And it came with 2 pizzas which were really good actually… Even when we were leaving the owner was saying they make their own pizza and people have been calling in and ordering for take out…

The bowling alley is clean. The staff are friendly, but the grumpy and nasty trolls that play there are not!
NO MUSIC in the evenings, even on the weekends!
The bar is a very far walk from the counter where you request a lane and where half of the lanes in the building are located.
Needless to say, this bowling alley is not very inviting for the 21 – 40 year age group.

Normally I’m a sucker for «retro-​style» bowling alleys like the Playdium. You know, the ones that totally smack of grit and days long passed and likely have employees who could use an attitude adjustment.
The Sunset is a shiny, happy youngun’ in comparison. But I dig it. I really do.
I haven’t been here in awhile, not since I split with my ex and pretty much gave up on double-​dates. My lack of recent visitation has nothing to do with lack of enjoyment though.
This is a clean, bright and welcoming bowling alley. It’s also huge, with two separate bowling areas, a large tavern and a small arcade. The parking lot is huge, and while it’s not dirt-​cheap, prices always seemed comparable. Bowling is still a much cheaper weekend activity than many other choices. It’s also seems far more wholesome despite the bar and it’s libations.
For kids parties, they have cyber, black-​lite bowling. I went once for my teen brother’s birthday. All sarcasm aside, it was actually very cool. The carpeting has neon-​colored planets, stars and asteroids all over it. I wish I had that in my bedroom!
