Taft Furniture

I’m sitting here waiting for a delivery and or call back. Here’s the senerio. Purschased a mattress set a week ago. A day ago was called by Taft that delivery would be here today between 8:30 and 11:30. At 9:30 was called now delivery would be between 1:30 and 4:30.
So what happen? Truck broke down, question are they now delivering all 1:30 to 4:30 stops early and moving all early stops late? Taft knows how to make a sale but not follow though.
This has happened before with another store so I have a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll split the difference with you I’ll be here til 1:30 then who knows? Since I could have been last on the am delivery I should be first on afternoon. This does not include any conversation we had by phone. I could change my rating based on outcome.
Thank you Taft, showed up a half hour early. No problems ensued, delivery staff did a good job.

This review is for the mattress/​bedframe experience.
This is a pretty big store and a wide selection of bedframes from all sizes and themes. Adults and kid bedframes. If you have a budget there are bedframes for just a little over $ 100, which are also good looking. There is of course a good selection of mattresses to choose from.
The pick up window seems a bit disorganized imo. It took them a while to find our order when we were there to pick up the bedframe.
Putting together the frame is fairly simple. Just a couple hex keys and phillips head screws.
Also if you decide for their service and delivery instead of picking up they charge around $ 100 and a wait time of 7 days for delivery which they also put together the product as part of the service.

***UPDATE: Changing from 2 to 3 stars due to Trisha calling me immediately, working her magic to get us in to pick out a new mattress, set up delivery herself and had the techs repair the bed frame all in one shot! Thank you Trisha and Fred for helping us out. We have been sleeping on our new mattress for almost a month now without any problems.
We purchased an entire bedroom set, new mattress and box spring in the beginning of January. After sleeping on the mattress for 4 weeks, a large dip formed in the middle. We are not able to both sleep in the bed because of the unevenness so we called on Taft to come out and look at the bed. They measured and sure enough, there is a 1−½″ dip in the mattress. The tech informed us they that he would have to submit his report and we will hear back. Now 3 weeks later, still haven’t heard anything, called customer service support again and was advised that the Sealy representative has to review the case and he is only in once per MONTH!!! They assured me that when he was in last Friday it was reviewed and I would hear a determination this week. Now Friday, no phone call. I have been sleeping on my COUCH for over a month after spending a good buck!!! Additionally, after one week of owning the bed, the center support broke on the frame. Taft ordered the part and that has come in. My recommendation is to do your research before purchasing a mattress. The process was not explained to us at time of purchase regarding the terms for Sealy. Highly disappointed with our experience and extremely exhausted from not having a good night’s sleep in months.

I’m changing my previous 1 star review to a 5 due to the events of the director of customer service calling me, Trisha Kot. She called and asked me to
Explain what we have been dealing with, and I explained the problem and issues with our furniture. I told her I felt like I had been completely shut down after dealing with the service team the week before and was left with no resolutions, although our furniture was deemed defective. I can see why she is the director of customer service, having been in a direct customer service position myself I can see when someone actually cares to resolve an issue and values the customer. Like myself, she made me feel as though she honestly cared about how upset we were, and offered a generous resolution to help ease our frustrations. My mother and sister have been customers of Taft, and since reinstating our trust we will continue to be a customer as well! To know their is someone like Trish who wants to fight for customers like us, we feel we are with the right company. Thank you Taft for standing behind us and making us feel valued!!! I will pass along our experience with people we know, as I promised! Thank you again!

I was searching for several pieces of furniture to complete my home decorating and stopped at a few local furniture stores everyone is familiar with. While I saw nice things in all of the places I visited, the best priced and only store that had every piece I wanted in stock was TAFT. I purchased everything I needed at Taft and even went back a couple days later to add to my collection. The furniture was expertly assembled and delivered to my home a week or so later.
I would like to extend a huge thank you to the sales rep who keenly focused in on exactly what I was looking for after a brief discussion. He knew his inventory well and wasted no time showing me a variety of the items I requested. Thank you, Geoff Raylinsky, for your knowledge and expertise. I will be sure to shop at Taft again whenever I need more furniture.

I had a great experience here. After making several visits to all the furniture stores in the area (SEVERAL) I ended up purchasing a couch at TAFT. They had a great variety but not overwhelming and the service from the sales team was excellent. Each visit I was given a business card when first entering the store, but left alone to wander and search. Many places, I was attacked by vultures upon arrival and not given one minute of time to think on my own. At Raymour and Flanigan I had a salesman continue to talk/​ask me questions while I was on the phone, then he would NOT let me leave the store. My salesman at TAFT actually called me the following day to give me some more info on the couch I was interested in.
TAFT made the buying process comfortable and they were able to deliver in ender a week. The delivery guys were at my place for all of 15 minutes and were on time.
Overall experience was A+. Ask for Lenny, helpful and funny with a great attitude.

My sister bought her couch from here and it is great! They were able to provide an unique color with matching pillows to make for such a stunning living room. Everyone is always asking where I found this gem! Thanks for making my sister’s home such a beautiful living space :)

Came in 2 years ago to buy a recliner since I was having surgery sales person was good no pressure looked at several brands and picked out a power recliner my wife decided for the price she get one also. Salesman wrote up agreement and talked about extended warranty which we brought considering the power motor and switch. Delivery fees were a bit high considering some stores give free delivery, chairs arrived the 2 delivery guys were pleasant and placed chairs where we ask them. Over a year after purchasing my chair stopped working in recline position called Tafts and was told another company handled warranty, I called warranty company next day they needed us to make out claim form which they emailed me and mail it out to them between 7 – 10 day I received a call from warranty company to set up a appointment to have repairman come to house and they were backed up 2 weeks. The repairmen came 2 pleasant men looked at recliner took pictures told me they were not sure if it was motor or switch so he order both from Ashley. I appreciated his effort since by now I been without a recliner for 3 weeks. A few days later a lady called from warranty company stating the parts were no longer available since the chair had been discontinued and they offer me $ 250.00 the chair was originally over $ 500.00. I then called Ashley and talked to customer service who said parts were available. I then called warranty company back and demanded the chair be fix. They finally agreed to give me 500.00 toward a new recliner from Tafts and free delivery. I think Tafts should work with another warranty company 4 – 5 weeks to resolve a problem is to much time and being told parts are not available when they were is not good business. I will say the woman at Tafts, the woman at warranty company were pleasant.
We went back in picked up new chair and had delivery
no problems.
Bottom line change your warranty company they are not customer friendly and unfortunately it reflects back on you.

I purchased a couch from Taft 3 years ago. The cushion covers now need to be replaced however Taft refuses to help me, they told me to call the manufacturer. After calling the manufacturer they informed me they could not sell the cushion covers to me it had to be Taft. I advised them they no long have an account and the associate assured me they could still order the replacement for me. I went back to Taft and spoke with Donna the «boss» as she calls herself. I was completely unsatisfied. I reiterated what the manufacturer told me and asked that she please help me order these covers. Her response «I’m telling you we cannot order from them». I asked what I should do and she said call an upholster. It’s too bad this «boss» could care less and would rather me spend hundreds to reupholster a couch rather than make a simple call. I usually go to Old Brick and this instance with Taft wont happen again. I will not give my business to them again.

Update (2 hours later): After posting a complaint on Taft’s Facebook page, Justin and Melessa from Taft have both contacted me and have made every effort to correct the problem and rectify the situation, and will be replacing the chair. I have the upmost respect for both of these employees and will continue to shop at Taft. Upon my update, I changed my rating from a 1 star to a 3 star.
Taft — I am so disappointed in your store. My family bought the first piece of furniture from you just over 3 months ago. It is an Easy-​lift/​recliner for my disabled father who is in a nursing home. The chair fell apart last week, and I came into Taft to have it repaired on Tuesday night, ²⁄₁₇. I spoke to your floor representative (Lenny) upon coming into the store, and he had me fill out a service request with him assuring that I would be contacted regarding the repair and to set up an appointment as soon as possible. Now it is Friday, no phone call. I called your store about an hour ago and spoke to someone in service. She told me that you did not service this particular chair, and that we had to call the manufacturer. In frustration, I asked to speak to a manager (Donna) even though I know the employee was just telling me what she knew. The manager repeated the same information. So I left her with these questions, as to which she was unable to answer and only proceeded to argue with me through my frustration instead of apologizing or attempting to help me:
1) Why did your employee not tell me upon arriving Tuesday that you could not service this product? During the phone call, the manager said that he did not know because he is just a floor rep. Tell me this: Shouldn’t your floor reps who are SELLING the products know the warranties offered on those products?
2) Why didn’t anyone follow up with the written service request from Tuesday, even if to only tell me that Taft will not service it and I need to call the manufacturer? The manager was unable to say why, simply stating «I was not here Tuesday and I do not know what the floor rep did with that request.» Why does your manager not know what her employees are doing or know to follow up with them?
3) How can Taft sell me a product they do not stand behind? If you stood behind your product, you would repair it, replace it, or offer to call the manufacturer for me, or accept a refund. A piece of so-​called ‘quality furniture’ that costs $ 800 should not fail after normal use for 3 months.
Donna did not offer to call the manufacturer for me, or offer some type of concern that I was so frustrated that I let her know this will be the last piece of furniture I buy from your store. I firmly believe even if someone cannot do anything to reconcile the issue through repair, the least your store could do is STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT, and refund or replace the chair. Even after asking her to do that, she said that you would not take the product back. How can you sell something that you do not stand behind?
Here is an example of a store that stands behind their product: Just a month ago, my boyfriend had an issue with an Englander mattress he bought from Mooridan’s downtown, purchased about 2 years ago. Not only did they offer to CALL the manufacturer to have the mattress inspected for damages and possibly have it replaced (as Englander ALSO has their mattresses repaired/​replaced through the manufacturer, just as my dad’s chair is), but Moordian’s worked with him to get almost $ 1000 credit back from Englander to the store so he can buy a new mattress.
Taft, you should be embarrassed with your employees, your lack of employee training, lack of customer service and customer care, and the poor quality furniture you sell. I will never ever be back to buy furniture again. Please also know I will be posting this information on Unilocal,Yahoo Local, and Google Reviews.

I was in DESPERATE need of a couch and had done some research online before going out to make my purchase; Taft delivered to my area for under $ 100 and had a couch I was in love with for less than $ 700, so I was sold.
No one acknowledged me when I was looking around. I found the couch I wanted, went up to the service desk, told them I was interested in a couch, she asked if anyone had greeted me and I said no. She paged to have someone help, and from there it was pretty fast.
I had to wait two weeks before they were delivering to my area, which was a pain, but I could deal.
My friend was there when they were supposed to be delivering my couch because I had to work and she calls me up to tell me that they have taken the couch back to Albany, it couldn’t fit.
I call up Taft to get some options which was a JOKE! Everyone I spoke to had an attitude or was less than helpful. One of them asked what notes or suggestions the delivery men had put on the order, when I looked it says, «No fit.» That’s it! Nothing helpful. I tell them that and they say that it’s not their fault it didn’t fit, they refused to reimburse the delivery fee and had no helpful alternatives on how to right the situation. I explained to them that I had already picked out the only couch I liked in their store, so I wasn’t interested in getting another one.
I just so happen to be moving and was trying to ask if the couch could be delivered to the new address. The MANAGER didn’t even acknowledge my suggestion, just kept repeating that it wasn’t their fault, he absolutely wasn’t reimbursing the delivery fee, etc. I ended up hanging up on the man because I was frustrated and getting no where.
I called the next day and decided to go a different route. The woman that I spoke to was the only redeeming factor of my whole experience. She was able to get me a Saturday delivery to my new address within a total of 5 minutes.

We had our previous experience looking for kitchen dinette furniture, with no luck since we were looking for a particular style. Still, when in the market for a sofa sleeper, we decided to try Taft out again.
It paid off.
We found a queen sofa sleeper in the style we were looking for for several hundred dollars less than nearby (and not so nearby) competitors. Depending on your experience, this is a fine example on giving an establishment a second try.
Four stars this time around for selection of sleeper sofas, price, financing options, and plenty of staff that doesn’t hound you all over the store.

I’ve bought two beds from here so far, and unless the pick up for the mattress goes wrong or I’ve picked the wrong bed I’ve loved both of my experiences.
I know other people have commented on the fact they give you a business card and let you shop as a negative I really like it. I don’t need somebody watching me awkwardly figuring out what mattress feels right (ugh I hateeeee mattress shopping).
I also really liked the prices of at least the mattresses they seem to be on par from what I’ve seen at other places plus there’s a much bigger selection and if you are picking up there’s a good chance it’s in the warehouse so it’ll be easy.

I spent over $ 1600 on bedroom furniture here and the quality of it is CRAP. I needed something to be repaired and they can’t set appointments more than a few days out and can’t give you a date 2 – 3 weeks out because they don’t know when the repairman will be in your region, won’t give you a time of day until the night before, and they don’t do night or weekend service. So, basically if you work regular business hours you can not get your items serviced making the warranty POINTLESS. You can’t even request a day off (which most companies requires 2 – 3 weeks notice) to do it because they can’t make appointments that far out. When I was telling the manager this, she said, well can you come home on lunch or have someone else there? Um, no I can’t thanks for nothing. If this furniture was made properly to begin with I wouldn’t need service.
If I could give zero stars for service and quality of product I would. I wish I could return this bullcrap you call furniture.

I’ll keep it simple. Happy with the showroom. Service at the facility was awesome. Prices and products are great. Waiting a week and a half for delivery of the furniture was crappy and being given a time on the date specified that was picked for me and not alterable was kinda crappy. The only other option was wait another week for another delivery date. The guy giving this news was kind of a dick about it too but oh well. Three stars that could have been five but the delivery experience left a crappy taste in my mouth. I would go back but after I try a few others for some new stuff.

Crap

Big store but don’t expect any service. Was in store and one clerk gave me his business card — never saw him again. Passed a group of clerks and they were busy talking about a tv show from last night. They have prices high so they can offer a sale or discount. You might find a good deal here but you will need to work and barter for it. GOOD LUCK!

If you want a broad selection of furniture without having to work your way through a sea of tackiness to find the nice items (a la Huck Finn’s), you will enjoy Taft. The prices are a little steeper, but you also have the option here of choosing custom colors, fabrics, etc, from the manufacturer. Taft has a particularly impressive collection of leather living room sets, as well as large dining room, bedroom, mattress and office sections. They even have a decent selection of nice futons and a small assortment of area rugs. And if you want to go into debt furnishing your home, they seem to have regular deals on financing (such as 1 year interest free). Delivery is reasonably priced and the staff is very professional. Another nice feature: They have yard sticks in several locations throughout the store in case you need to take measurements (or if you prefer, to sporadically smack your significant other on the rear while you shop, as my husband does).
The downsides: While they do have some nice children’s bedroom sets, they don’t have as much selection for the kiddies. Also, if you happen to be looking for home accessories (wall art, lamps, etc), they don’t really have a section for this; things are just placed randomly throughout the store, so you’ve really got to look.
I didn’t know until now that this parking lot had such a draw for new drivers (thanks, Ian W.!), but I will definitely be more wary next time I’m driving through!

This large furniture showroom offers no frills and decent prices for living rooms, dining rooms, home office, bedroom sets, area rugs, lamps, kids furniture, and more including plenty of deeply discounted closeouts. A greeter will introduce themselves to you inside, give you their business card, and let you roam the store freely. Sat in some very comfortable leather couches!
LOCATION: It’s the furniture store on Central Ave with lotsa-​lotsa of parking out front, approximately 780 FEET OF BARE PAVEMENT from the Central Ave to the front of the building. NO JOKE!
Locally, it was a great place to learn how to drive, especially learning to drive a stick because the lot was flat, empty near the road and had no conflicting vehicles. Even my local driver’s ed class used it to practice winter driving maneuvers.
«So, wanna go driving? Sure, Taft Furniture parking lot!!!» That’s the first place that comes to mind.
This huge parking lot was also used as a major shuttle lot to the nearby Extreme Makeover house in 2007.
Presently, guide posts with chains are installed, probably for safety reasons to discourage speeding and unsafe driving in the lot. The huge lot gets very little use most of the time, so why not develop it into something interesting?
