Avant Garden Ballroom Academy and Creative Learning specializes in quality, affordable dance instruction and academic tutoring throughout the Albuquerque area.

Our Ballroom Academy offers instruction for kids and adults in all the major partner dances, including, Merengue, Salsa, Cha-​cha, Rumba, Bachata, Swing, Tango, Waltz, Fox-​trot, Wedding dances, and Country/​Western. We teach private lessons by appointment, at a fraction of the price of our competitors. We are also the only dance studio in ABQ to offer an on-​going Childrens and Family Dance program since we opened our Albuquerque studio in 2006! This is a fun group class for ages 7 and up. Our Creative Learning Division offers the highest quality, affordable, private tutoring in almost every subject and grade level. We have an exceptionally caring, and highly-​trained staff, and the best part is… we can come to you!

History

Established in 2006.

After competing and teaching Swing dancing at dozens of venues, and tutoring hundreds of students across Pennsylvania for more than ten years; Audra Billet moved to sunny Albuquerque in 2004. Within months, she was hired at a nationally known dance Studio, where she trained intensively, and taught hundeds more. This sparked a new love of all the ballroom dances… especially Salsa dancing! It was after only two years of living in New Mexico, that Audra knew what she must do… combine her love of teaching and tutoring, and open her own studio! It was then, in 2006, that Avant Garden was born. To this day, Avant Garden is proud to offer caring, high-​quality, and affordable tutoring and dance instruction for both children and adults.

Business Owner

Born and raised in a small town in Central Pennsylvania, Audra Billet has always had big city dreams. With a wide range of interests and talents, Audra went on to major in philosophy, with minors in math and physics. An entrepreneur at heart, Audra has succesfully taught dancing, and tutored hundreds, if not thousands of students since her teens. In her Ballroom carreer, she is proud to have trained with the great Frankie Manning, Bob and Julia Powers, Nathalie Gomes, Bob and Cindy Long, and Charity Toya, among many others. With regards to her teaching and tutoring success, she credits her strong up-​bringing and her teaching philosophy: that if a student isn’t understanding something; it is the teacher who hasn’t figured out the right way to teach it yet.
