History

Established in 1980.

A father and son team, the eye doctors have a over 50 years of experience between them. Both are members of the American Optometric Association and the New Mexico Optometric Association.

Dr. Babington Sr. was the first optometrist at Lovelace in the 1970’s. He then ventured out on his own in 1980. He has moved locations twice and has currently remodeled his office.

Dr. Babington Jr. has been practicing with his father for over 10 years, and is slowly taking over the business while his father works part time.

Dr. S. David Babington is a board certified optometrist specializing in the areas of specialty contact lens fittings (hard to fit, dry eyes, astigmatism, work/​lifestyle considerations), ocular disease treatment and dry eye management.

Also, Dr. Babington Sr’s thorough knowledge and experience in ophthalmic optics has continually helped patients in their comfort and design of their eyewear. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, New Mexico Optometric Association.

Dr. Babington knows first hand how important good eye sight is to playing your favorite sports. He is an avid golfer, runner, biker and outdoorsman. He loves traveling, reading about history and spending time with his grandson.
