Wow, what an amazing pet store. They have a great variety of products and foods, high quality chews, and some really unique gifts. Definitely geared toward dogs, which was perfect since I was shopping for my very picky Doberman and my lab mix who is allergic to most preservatives. The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly. I ended up with treats from some of my all-​time favorite companies – Cloudstar, Planet Dog, Primal, Sojos – and some duck feet, and passed up some awesome treats by Orijen and Honest Kitchen. I’m not in the market for pet foods since I happily feed Orijen and Honest Kitchen, but they had several isles of top shelf foods in freeze-​dried, kibble, wet, and frozen forms. What a great place.
ETA: I returned a short while later for some Honest Kitchen crunchy treats and a water buffalo chew. Still impressed with the selection and the friendliness of the staff. They also offer a customer rewards program and food loyalty cards. A dog owner really can’t go wrong shopping here.

The best pet store in ABQ. Locally owned, super knowledgeable, fairly priced. Forego the chain pet stores and come here! When my cat was on a feeding tube, the owners were able to recommend me the perfect food to blend and put in his tube. If your animals have dietary restrictions they carry tons of high quality foods and can get your pet set up on food that’s way better quality than the crap they hock at the vets office. Everyone here is super knowledgeable and friendly. Give it a shot!

Friendly, KNOWLEDGEABLE staff and the best selection of raw food I’ve seen in Albuquerque. I just read that they changed management. … I hope this doesn’t change the quality of the types of food they offer (for dogs). They’re open on Sundays, which is helpful. Skip the «marts» and support an excellent local pet food store!

NEVER SHOP HERE. This store had a change in management, and will not honor the promises that its previous manager made. Very disappointed as I have spent a significant amount of money on dog food with the expectation of getting a free bag after purchasing 12. I will NEVER shop here again

Boofy’s is the best pet specialty store I’ve ever been to. They have friendly staff who remember you, genuinely care about animals, and are very knowledgeable. They also give you free samples to see what works best for your individual pet.
Personally, I also think the owner’s knowledge helped save my cat. My Siamese at age 8 was getting thinner and thinner, and no one knew why. I spent $ 300 on lab work which was recommended by the VCA for possible hyperthyroidism. But all his tests came back fine. I then spent another $ 500 pulling a «rotted tooth» that the VCA said would help him. Instead, he became even more lethargic and deathly skinny. He was not interested in his food. He would nibble on his dry food all day and eat approx ¼th of a can food per day. Each week he puked or had diarrhea. He developed itchy sores on his face and neck that bled. I saw a second vet’s office who recommended that I try him on raw chicken meat and raw liver. He wouldn’t eat it. The VCA offered to do another $ 300 for an x-​ray and ultrasound of his tummy, to see if he had any internal cancer in his digestive system. However, I could not spend more money for «guessing.» I decided to check out alternative medicine as a last resort. I heard about pets who develop both environmental allergies (which he has), as well as food intolerance. By doing a search, I found Boofy’s Best as a local specialty food store. That is when I met Lisa, the co-​owner. She explained all about food allergies and intolerance, why my cat might not be eating, and why he has itchy sores. She started him on an elimination diet with limited-​ingredient, preservative and filler-​free, all natural can food. That was about 6 months ago. Since then, my cat has gained about a half pound, now eats like a horse and wakes us up in the middle of the night if his food bowl only has one bite left (meaning he is sure to starve to death soon ;-). He has regained his energy and has «kitty-​gone-​wild» times each day.
Boofy’s Best helped save my cat’s life. They are more knowledgeable and successful than two professional vet’s offices!!! And cost a lot less. I am forever grateful to the people at Boofy’s Best for Pets!

Had to stop in transit to phx. Called ahead to see if they had what I needed, they did and they held it for me!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My Dalmatian was suffering from kidney stones and Lisa and Jeff went above and beyond helping me research and find the perfect food for him. They remember me by name as well as my dog and are so sweet and kind. I was thrilled to learn that their business is expanding, I like to think I had a part in that. :-)

Boofy’s is awesome. It’s like a doggy and kitty smorgasboard of delicious things (ask my pup, she’ll say it’s true!) Jeff and Lisa are very knowledgeable and helpful– they’ll answer all of your questions and make you smile while it happens.
High end grain free foods, eco friendly toys, yummy treats, collars and leashes… You name it, they got it! Bring your furkid by, pick them out something neat and enjoy this super cool little store.

This is an exceptional pet store and resource. They have a great rewards program. Their variety of brands, products, and choices is the best I have found. Top quality and peace of mind knowing you can always bring stuff back. Thanks!

I was passing through Albuquerque on a cross country move and stopped for the evening. My GPS said I would get there 2 minutes after close. I called ahead and they offered to stay open until I got there which is amazing cause very few places even sell Fromm, the grain free food of choice for my dog let alone are open as late during the weekdays.
When I arrived, both gentlemen at the store were nice and helpful. They even carried the large bag of dog food to my car! If I lived in Albuquerque, I wouldn’t purchase things for my pets anywhere else!

Sandwiched between both local and franchise options in a nondescript west side neighborhood mall, Boofy’s is a pet oasis. I’m always impressed by local businesses that manage to craft personality in a box, and Boofy’s does with abandon. Exhibit A: the cats in the back. It’s likely that by the time you peruse this review, the sweet adopted kitten family crated near the storage area of this store will be gone, but the story is pretty golden: four abandoned kittens and their mother were offered to the owners, they took ‘em in and the rest is hopefully history.
Boofy’s generally specializes in the canine and feline; most of the food, treats and toys center on the furry, rather than feathered or what-​have-​you. Options run the gamut, from locally-​based Tailwaggin’ Temptations to national brands that offer totally strange, cool alternatives, including freakish freeze-​dried turkey necks (for the dogs, obviously). You’ll find literally everything in here, including a fly fish cat toy line, and the owners (down-​to-​earth, one wore a tee that at first glance seemed like the Misfits, but actually read the Mastiffs) may send you off with a few samples. Want to pimp your pup or celeb your cat? This is it. Expect honest service, fair prices and a cool switch-​up from Pet-​Corp.

Amazing people! Very educated and informed. So very helpful with a fantastic selection that is well thought out and actually high quality for your «Fur Kids»!!

Boofy’s has some really wonderful employees. I have been really impressed with the knowledge they seem to have. The food they carry seems to be seriously quality stuff and has helped with my cats mouth ulcer! Yay for that since nothing else has yet. If you’re looking for something special, chances are they’re willing to order it for you. It is a bit pricier than most places, but I’d say price-​wise it’s on-​par with Clark’s Pet Emporium on the East Side. I’m really glad I found this place and I can support another local business rather than PetSmart! :)

Boofy’s offers a surprisingly wide variety of high quality pet food/​treats/​supplies I have seen offered at the chain pet stores. The owners were very nice, helpful, and seem to genuinely care about the health of their customers’ pets. Lastly, I appreciate the later hours, which are really convenient during the work week.

Boofy’s offers the largest food assortment for dogs and cats I’ve ever seen! And a great spread of treats and toys so we took a couple of spins around the store before making our selections.
The brief interaction we had with the owners was pleasant and they were quite friendly.
We were at the shop today because they were holding an event for animal rescue groups and adoptions, so while I’m already behind them because they are a local business, the difference they make for animals in need makes them that much more amazing.
