Description

Specialties

Celina’s Biscochitos specializes in making the authentic New Mexico cookie — biscochitos. Biscochitos are a crisp lard-based cookie flavored with cinnamon and anise. Unique to the area of New Mexico, these cookies are the result of centuries of influence brought by local and indigenous customs.

History

Established in 2010.

David Grife and Celina Aldaz-Grife began this small business purely by accident. Celina was a local real estate agent with fifteen years of experience. Having her Grandma Maggie’s’recipe, her first year in real estate, Celina began to give each one of her clients a small gift of biscochitos at Christmas time. She began to make them more and more each year for friends and family and one thing lead to another. David, Celina’s husband, began to help her make them. They started out small and now they are beginning to see their business grow. They officially named their business in 2010 and received their business license. While working out of the community kitchen at the Mixing Bowl in the South Valley they began to see a fantastic growth in their business and have graduated into their own location in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque.
