Specialties

Downtown Child Care Center provides «hands on» early childhood education for children 2 – 6 years old which includes preschool and Pre –Kindergarten. The center has been in the Wells Park Community for 21 years. The center is a Four Star Focus Site. Currently there are only 6 Focus 4 sites in the State of New Mexico. We provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. The children have access to a variety of activities and materials to enhance their learning. The yard is ¼ acre and is in the back. Directors have been here 21 years and teachers for 11 years. We focus on the total development of young children-social, emotional, cognitive and physical. We have an open door policy-please come in anytime to see the program.

History

Established in 1994.

Since 1994, the motto has been «Where Teaching Respect and Responsibility Comes From the Heart». The staff is committed to helping children have good values and good character.

Meet the Business Owner

Donna F.

Business Owner

I, Donna Fletcher, have been the director of Downtown Child Care Center since it opened in April of 1994. I was born in Albuquerque but started in early childhood education in 1983 in California. I moved back to Albuquerque with my husband and two young children in October of 1993. I worked at two early childhood education programs in Albuquerque before I had the opportunity to open my own. I have a degree in Multicultural Early Childhood Education. Both of my children attended Downtown Child Care Center. Our son graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2013 and our daughter graduated from University of Kansas this year. My goal is to give children an abundance of learning experiences so that they want to go to «big» school. They want to learn. They are excited to learn!
