At Mountain Path Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy, Our goal is to teach Traditional Kung Fu and Traditional Values. We achieve this by teaching two styles of traditional Chinese Kung Fu. Ng Ga Kuen is our flagship and our Choy Lay Fut, while not complete, offers material we feel to be valuable in that it enhances our overall skill set as Scholar Warriors. We do focus on the Ng Ga Kuen and we believe that this approach allows for steady growth within the system and ensures that a student is ready for the upcoming complexities and nuances associated with their training. The training is exceptionally well suited to practical self-defense and adheres to the mantra that true Kung Fu is 100% adaptive. So Kung Fu lessons, Tai Chi lessons and Chi Kung lessons can be enjoyed by anyone, of any age, no matter the injury, ailment or malady. It should be noted that Tai Chi and Chi Kung (also spelled Qi Gong) are also traditional Chinese martial arts and are well regarded for the health and healing benefits they provide through steady practice.
We also pride ourselves on the quality of our Chi Kung and Tai Chi instruction. The healthful benefits of which are well documented and the practice of which is rising meteorically within the United States right now.
History
Established in 2013.
Mountain Path Kung Fu and Tai Chi Academy was founded in December, 2013. Its founder, Sifu Rob Bibeau had recently returned home to New Mexico after having served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps and having fought in Iraq. After returning to New Mexico, Sifu Rob learned that there were currently no other local teachers instructing Ng Ga Kuen or Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Recognizing the benefit that the instruction and inherent core values of these two time tested styles and arts could provide to the members of this community Sifu Rob determined it was time to open a school. Rob’s vision was to provide an alternative to the «ground and pound menace» that is so prevalent within martial arts instruction these days by getting back to the values and code of honor and integrity associated with any true instruction in martial skill. At Mountain Path Kung Fu and Tai Chi we esteem scholarly virtue quite highly and we strive to maintain an atmosphere of school rather than gym

Business Owner
Sifu Rob Bibeau is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served a total of fourteen years both as an enlisted Marine and later as an Officer. Although Rob had studied a wide variety of martial arts throughout his lifetime, it was during his first deployment to Iraq in 2007 that Rob began a study of Kung Fu. At that time Rob was serving as his Battalion’s Intelligence Officer and studied under the guidance of his friend who was serving as the Battalions Medical Officer. On his second deployment Rob was wounded in action, the result of an IED blast. Subsequently transferred to the Wounded Warrior Battalion, Rob began an intensive training regimen under Sifu Mario Figueroa as an alternative therapy to assist in the recovery from his injuries which included a Traumatic Brain Injury and seven herniated disks to his neck and spine. Rob attributes a large percentage of his recovery to the study of Kung Fu. Rob is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and an Eagle Scout.
