Quik Check Emissions Testing

I have been using this Quick Check location for the past 10 years or so without any problems. I took my 2003 Chevy pickup in the other day for an emission test and there was a new tech working there. Place was not really busy and he was bullshitting with someone there (maybe a friend). Anyhoo. he proceeds to run the emission test or so it looks like. Afterwards he tells me that his machine could not communicate with the truck through the OBD connector as it has been tampered with and proceeds to charge me the $ 21.00 for the test and states that I can come back for a retest and pay an additional $ 12.00. Why would you charge for something that you could not perform? I explained that I had an alarm system put into the vehicle and that is where they tie into. He totally ignored this information. I left and went right down the street to another emission shop and had the test run and passed within 5 minutes. I stated to that tech what had transpired and he stated that there is a button to push on the emission machine if it does not communicate with the vehicle. Older machines have this on them. He also stated that the tech had no clue what he was doing or just wanted to screw me out of more money as he was probably getting bonus for re tests. I shall never return to this or any other Quik Check locations and recommend to all my friends to avoid as well.
