I originally received an unsolicited email from Brian Fosson on November 12, 2014 with a description of a temporary travel nursing supervisor position at Down East Community Hospital in Machias, Maine. I responded by expressing an interest in finding out more about the position. He requested an updated resume which I sent on November 17. He responded with an email that started, «Let’s talk money!!» This email was unlike any correspondence I’d ever had from any other travel nursing agencies. In the email Fosson wrote that housing was only $ 7 an hour. That translates to $ 5040 per month! In the body of the email he also broke down the hourly wage into a lot of unintelligible detail about what part of the salary was non-taxable. I responded to him on the 17th and 22nd of November, questioning the rent of $ 7 per hour. On the 24 of November I received a voice message that he had found another place to live called the Bluebird Motel and he left a phone number in the message for me to call! In all other travel assignments I have done housing has been paid for and it was an apartment. Housing was fully arranged by the agency and there was a specific place where travel nurses were housed. I find all of this out of the ordinary and quite frankly, a bit fishy and unprofessional. I caution anyone considering travel assignments in the healthcare field to beware of this organization.
