I wasn’t really impressed sushi was just ok. Drove across town because the reviews were so good. Probably won’t be back

They are very consistent with their food and service. They are so friendly and hospitable. The new Mexican roll is absolutely amazing! The only down side is I usually crave them on Sundays but they’re closed. :(

It is always a difficult quest to get good sushi in the desert and an even harder task to get good sushi in a place that is influenced by a predominantly Spanish/Mexican cuisine. Sakura defies both of those stereotypes. The fish is incredibly fresh and some of the best I’ve had, not just from Albuquerque but from coastal cities as well. They have original and delicious rolls and the owner always comes by and asks you how your meal was. I would definitely recommend it to both locals and anyone visiting who is looking for some fresh Sushi.

My family’s first time here. I’m so glad I decided to give this place a try. We decided to dine here for lunch. We were greeted & seated right away. The staff was very friendly. A nice place that had a good sized dining area and a sushi bar. Enjoyed some hot sake & Sapporo. My family enjoyed the Beef fried rice. The salad with the ginger dressing was very flavorful. We had, California Roll, Crunch Roll and a Salmon tempura roll. After our lunch we were served this chilled ginger tea. So full of flavor, my kids said it tasted like gingerbread. We thoroughly enjoyed that. We’re definitely coming back here!

The sushi was phenomenal. We tried several different things: the tuna tataki was delicious! I also LOVED the calamari roll — except next time I will forego the roll and have calamari by itself. I also had the monkey brains — best I’ve ever had! There were so many delicious choices. I really enjoyed this place and have already referred several of my friends. I’m sure I will come here several more times. This may be my favorite sushi in Albuquerque… a hidden gem for sure. Plus the complimentary ginger tea at the end is a neat touch. Definitely worth a visit! I want to try even more of the sashimi options. Yum!

Best sushi in town. It is the only place you can get premium sashimi. It makes you wonder what you have been eating and sets a new bar. Just try the premium salmon sashimi. The rolls are excellent because they are mainly fish with very little rice. I recommend three Kurosawa Sake to compliment the meal

This is my favorite place in New Mexico for sushi. The ABQ Roll is amazing. The service is excellent and the prices are very good for the quality of sushi.

This place was really good! We enjoyed the sushi that we ordered. I LOVE everything green tea. So when I saw that they had green tea cheesecake, I was all over that like a hungry hippo. Haha! I’ve never had green tea cheesecake and this was as good as I’d imagine. I do recommend it. Overall, this place is reminiscent of a sushi restaurant my boyfriend and I frequently go to back in California. Their menu style down to the templates and fonts look exactly the same. For a moment I thought I was in Cali. We recommend this place.

Probably my favorite sushi spot. This place is consistently excellent. Fresh fish, excellent service, and a clean, nicely decorated restaurant. I live the Golden California roll, which is a fried California roll. Yum! They have a decent selection of rolls, including some unique ones that you don’t typically see at other sushi places. The lolipop roll looked interesting and I think I’ll try it at my next visit. At the table next to me, they ordered a New Mexican roll and I’ll admit, I wanted to go sit with them and ask for a taste. So I’ll definitely try one of those next time too. I mean, it had chili piled on top… its a dream roll!

Best baked salmon roll I’ve ever had! I don’t like fried sushi so this was a great option. We also had the double salmon and avocado roll, and the love, love, love roll, both were fantastic! My fiancé and I are big sushi lovers and this place offered great food and very friendly and accommodating staff. My water was never empty, they were very attentive and the owner even came out to greet us and make sure we were happy! Hands down the best sushi in Albuquerque!

Having recently moved from out of town I was under the impression that there were no good sushi places in ABQ. I could not have been more wrong this is by far the best sushi we have ever had. The service was top notch. The food is beautiful and taste is superb. Mike and Matt functioned as a team with excellent customer service. The ambiance is simple and comfortable and beautiful. We will be back and telling everybody we know in the meantime time about how amazing of a restaurant this is. Tempura lobster with fresh Wasabi. Delectable.

Great prices and great food. This place was really impressive. I had the opportunity to dine here on my lunch break last week and let me tell you, it is awesome and better than most sushi places that I have ate at around the city. They offer single sushi rolls, combos, and other Asian entrees. On this particular occasion, I had a lunch combo that came with eight pieces of chefs choice sushi and your choice of one premium roll. The meal also included miso soup and a dessert tea. The staff here was awesome and checked on me many times even though the place was really busy. Comparing this restaurant to other«heirs to the sushi throne» around town is not necessary as this place blows the king off the throne. Overall, if you are a real sushi fan who enjoys top quality rolls, this is the place to be.

I enjoy the sushi from Sakura(and feel their sushi chefs are really good) especially the calamari roll and I would recommend the Chef’s Choice. Recently I returned to Sakura and was disappointed. The service has definitely change(and not for the better) since my last visit. I arrived at a slow time of the day and it took at least 30+ minutes for the waitress to take our order, 45+ minutes to get our entries and after we asked for the check at least another 30+ minutes. The sushi was still as good as my other visits but the staff and experience was not enjoyable and really made me question my first review.

We decided on this restaurant one day when we initially decided on Wecks across the way from it. So glad we did! We’ve eaten here numerous times and have never once been disappointed with anything on their menu! Just check out their reviews and photos! This place is incredible! Their appetizers, [tuna collar] soups, Bento Boxes, tempura and sushi are ALWAYS top notch! Their staff is very friendly, their prices are VERY fair and the place is always clean. Whatever you do — don’t pass this little gem up!

One of my favorite sushi joints in the city, easily top 5. I’ve dined here three times and grabbed to-go, as well. Apparently there was a change of ownership at some point somewhat recently, but I haven’t noticed any change in the quality of what’s coming out of the kitchen. Essentially, sushi in the desert should excel in one of two things: creativity or consistency. The former is really tough to accomplish because, let’s face it, sushi is by definition artistic fare; a business can actually screw up the formula by smothering a roll in fancy-schmancy sauces and smother the flavor of the fish, which is the whole point of why you choose the fare in the first place. The other angle, consistency, is more subdued but often more rewarding, and in this aspect Sakura succeeds in spades. Bright, fresh, easy to discern flavors and solid, sticky rice make these bites sort of the standard to beat. Service has always matched what I’m saying about the food, as well. So don’t expect anything unusual, per se, but you’re going to enjoy this meal.

Great establishment! I would not go as far as to say it is a must for Abq sushi– but it is very high up there. Décor was lively, clean and elegant. I love when sushi joints stay away from over loading their décor with Asian flair and dark color paints. This had a comfortably lit setting, with classy modern décor. The sushi selection was good, lots of custom mild to wild ideas. We ordered the loli-pop, pink lady and Hawaiian. As well I did my typical test through Tuna Nigiri and snapper– they had Black Snapper!!! And served me Fatty Tuna. Most would be confused by the look of fatty tuna– I enjoy it every now and then but it is definitely not typical. The black Snapper was excellent. The nigiri pieces were put together well, good ratio of rice to fish. The Tuna was cut a bit too thin which made it seperate(fatty to a shoukd be cut thicker than normal to get the full flavor). Both the loli-pop and pink lady were, IMO, more suited to being an appetizer rather than an main. The pink lady was AMAZING, great flavor, perfect sauce. The Hawaiian as well was delightful, perfect amount of spice, though I would have enjoyed a bit more sauce with maybe a pineapple zing added in. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I would say it is a very good contender for my top 5 Abq sushi joints.
