Most parents know that finding an after-​school program for their child (ren) can be a daunting task. Especially if you are not able to get into the School Age Child Care (SACC) Program offered at most Fairfax County Schools. If this is you then look no further than Remarck Sport Taekwondo’s MindSolutions program! There are a lot of after school programs but finding one that parents feels comfortable with and feel that their child (ren) will be safe is not an easy task. Like most parents, I worry that nothing is really ever going to be good enough for my child or safe enough. The world is a scary place and the way current events are going it almost seems that nowhere is going to be safe enough for my child. But like most families both my wife and I have to work so we needed to find a place that we were comfortable and felt that our child would be safe and happy. After an exhaustive search we found Remarck Sport Taekwondo and their after school program MindSolutions.
MindSolutions is part of the Remarck Sport Taekwondo location in Rose Hill (Alexandria) and it has been a great way for our son to have a fun place to go and have fun after school as well as learn discipline and responsibility. The program is run by Ms. Danielle, Ms. Carey, and Ms. Eden and they set the rules and responsibilities for the kids and ensure that they are having fun and learning in a fun and safe environment. As part of MindSolutions the children receive instruction and help with all of their school work and probably the biggest benefit of this is that the children should be done with their homework before they get picked up which means one less thing for parents to have to worry about in the busy and chaotic times when we first get home, have to make dinner, ensure that baths/​showers, are done and everything else that goes along with making sure the kids are ready for a new day in the morning. Now, this program doesn’t take away a parents responsibility to make sure all of their child’s homework is done but it does make it less intense and time consuming.
But it is not all about homework and more schooling either, the children have fun and have the opportunity to just be kids and relieve some of the stress of their days. The one thing that is completely obvious when you walk in the front door of Remarck Sport Taekwondo is that the kids are all happy and you can see how much Ms. Danielle, Ms. Carey, and Ms. Eden care about each and every one of the kids in their care. Every day that I pick up my son I ask him if he had fun and his answer is always yes! Sure there have been times where he has told us that this person was being mean or unkind (which happens with kids) but he tells us that the issue is almost always quickly resolved either by the kids themselves, with the assistance of an older child or one of the Instructors. The point is Ms. Danielle, Ms. Carey, and Ms. Eden encourage and nurture these kids to become problem solvers as well as leaders and strong members of the community. This is what I want my child to learn and be part of when I cannot be there to teach him these lessons myself.
I know how hard it is as a parent to find a program where you feel completely comfortable leaving your child (ren) but I can assure you Remarck Sport Taekwondo’s MindSolutions program should help you feel at ease and with the knowledge that not only are they getting the time, help and assistance they need with their school work but they are with people who truly care for them and their well-​being and what more could a parent ask for when they can’t do it themselves.

AWESOME instructors — VERY KID FRIENDLY. Not intimidating, great use of older/​experienced students to help break up the kids into groups of similar skill levels to practice technique. Good warm up exercises and great use of time. Owners are extremely personable — Danielle Remarck is a gem — get to know her! They were very flexible with accommodating times and the price is very reasonable compared to similar schools.

I’m a relative newbie at Taekwondo and did A LOT of research, before settling on PRST. What swayed me is that they have a good reputation and prep fighters for the Olympic team. Have been going for a few months and definitely feel that I made the right choice.
Master Lee is phenomenal — knows everything there is to know about the sport, cares about his students and obviously loves teaching, and runs a tight ship overall. (I feel like I’ve found my Mr. Miagi :) Be warned — practices are intense and take some getting used to until you build up stamina, but also give you an incredible sense of accomplishment, as you’re basking in the «I can’t believe I just got through that!» afterglow.
The business itself is very family-​centered — Mrs. Remarck (a black belt herself) runs the admin side and they have an adorable little guy — Patrice Jr., who toddles around in his uniform — all pluses in my book. All in all — could not recommend more highly!

I love that school, that’s right I meant what I said. The instructors, the team all nice, very helpful and work hard to maintain and keep everybody in track. Tha school is the home of world Champions, Olympians and it’s a honor to everybody to train and learn from them !

Okay so I‘m a little bias because this is my team, but think about it this way: you get an insiders perspective! =)
Taekwondo is a hit or miss sport. You can either walk into a school called «Hissing Snake Karate Do-​Jang» and learn how to do the «Triple Spinning Tornado Kick of Immense Pain» (hehe) or you can walk into a real, legit school and learn real Olympic style Taekwondo.
2^nd Option sound a little better??? Yea, I thought so.
Master Patrice Remack is a legend on his own. He‘s a 6^th Degree Black Belt, an Olympian, and a World Champion. & not only that, HE‘S A FREAKIN GENIUS! He studied Physics at Howard University in DC and still plays around with scientific and mathematical theory for fun. (errr?) Sound a little scary? Don‘t be put off, Master P is hilarious. He has the most adorable french accent and develops a father-​like bond with everyone of his athletes and genuinely cares about their wellbeing.

So young grasshopper, I think it‘s time you pop that Karate Kid 2 cassette out of your VCR and drive your karate choppin‘ self over here, because it‘s definitely the best place for Taekwondo instruction!
