3.5 stars, as it’s above average for what it is — for the price, quality of food and service, and speed of delivery this place should be considered a hidden gem. The kitchen and waiting area are clean and well organized. Service is prompt and staff is efficiently friendly. This place is a take out only, but has several chairs for waiting. They have an extensive menu, so if you’re looking for something that is Chinese-ish, it’s likely here. The breaded chicken dishes(such as sweet and sour) have a medium amount of breading, and the chicken seemed to be all white meat. Most dishes were a little on the small side, but given that each dish and sauce have distinctly flavors compared to most other Chinese take out places, I’ll take it. It doesn’t all taste sweet, or spicy, or savory — each dish tastes like its own dish. As of 12⁄2015 minimum take out order is $ 11, minimum credit card purchase is $ 8 — FYI.

Love the egg rolls, beef Lo mein, and sesame chicken! A little greasy but delicious– very flavorful lo mein!

This is the best Chinese delivery in the Hollin Hall/Ft. Hunt area. Try the Peking Duck. I’m serious. And if you aren’t laughing by the time you’re done phoning in your order to the proprietor, you need you meds adjusted.

This has to be one of the WORST businesses, let alone Chinese carry out I have ever ordered from. They are nice when you order but when the driver delivers your food, he is very rude. My brother in law signed the receipt and he didn’t like the tip he was given so the driver tells him«You are wasting my time!» WAITWHAT?! Then we get our food and it was everything but good. We ordered a PuPu Platter and Chicken Lo Mein. The platter had me wondering if they even cared. The chicken looked like it suffered from dehydration before it was killed, ribs were mainly bone, the vegetables in the egg rolls tasted very old, the shrimp tempura was just tempura, and the wonton tasted like a hard croissant with no filling. The Lo Mein was dry and very dark. I am not accustomed to see any Lo Mein the way that this one looked. So I called to speak with the manager to tell her the issues. She talked over me the whole time, refused to apologize for the what the driver did, and didn’t bother to try to make the situation better. All she kept saying is how good everyone tells them their food is. I even asked to speak to the manager over her and she tells me that the General Manager is never there. I guess that was her way of telling me no. Long story short, eat at Chef Huang’s on Richmond Hwy. Everything is always perfect there and you are sure to get quality service.

If you like a main course of grease with a side of grease this is your place. It is about a mile from my house and I have been there about twice in the last ten years. Just recently I thought I would give it a try again. I was amazed that they have not changed in so many years. I got the chop suey so they can’t put the«40-weight» on. Get nothing that has meat with vegetables or anything that is fried. Anything with vegetables and meat is a heart-stopper. Same for their fried food. This is old-school unhealthy Chinese food that your parents bought back home when mom just did not want to cook. If you want something quick and close by, but don’t care about healthy food then you found you next take out Chinese.

Our go-to for takeout Chinese food. I have enjoyed the food at Hunan Manor since I was little, and it never disappoints.

My husband and I gave them another try after we had a long wait once for delivery. This was my husband’s favorite place growing up and instantly wanted to try it again when we moved here. After the late delivery we did give them a break and have started going back, but picking up our order. The employees are always very nice and the food is ready very quickly. All of the food tastes great and is not overcooked. I would say this is a great place to get carry out, but just don’t try delivery unless you know you can wait for dinner!

I love this restaurant! My friends and family aren’t fond of it, reasons unsure, but I love it. I’ve never actually been inside of the place, but the delivery is nice. Except one instance where it took more than 40 minutes, but I imagine it was a busy day. The people are almost always friendly at your doorstep While not being legitimate Chinese food but more Chinese-American, the menu is great. I recommend the General Tso’s chicken and the chicken moo-shi. The rice is always prepared well and warm at delivery. Great for families(as long as your kids aren’t super picky) :)

My favorite Chinese delivery! I love their wonton soup, pork lo mein, and green beans. Delivery is usually much faster than they estimate. Most dishes come in two sizes and the large is more than enough for sharing.

Amazing! It’s hard to find good Chinese food around. This is by far the best! Great service and the ladies were so sweet.

Great service. Spring rolls were ok, had random single veggies and pieces of meat that aren’t usually in them… Shrimp Lo Mein was pretty terrible. Overly salty, no seasoning, sparse veggies. A waste of money.

Best chinese in Alexandria! Their food is always fresh and flavorful. I am an Asian food snob and I live in Denver for the most part but always look forward to coming home to this food.

The quality at Hunan Manor has unfortunately changed in the last year or two. The quality is not as good as it once was, crab rangoon has zero crab in it and portions seem smaller. Hot and sour soup is as good as ever which is what keeps me as a customer.

We have been going here 2x a month since they opened. Never a bad meal, never any thing questionable on its freshness. The best pineapple fried rice with shrimp. Love the house made steamed dumplings. Very clean, very fresh, excellent quality, you can’t go wrong. Take out only, call order in as there is limited waiting space.

The people are definitely super nice, but the food we tried was not good. We ordered Hunan Pork(figuring this is a Hunan place after all) but the pork was dried out and stringy and the sauce was sort of salty without much flavor. The chicken lo mein was heavy and dense and again the sauce was disappointing; sort of salty and flavorless. We also had the pan fried«meat» dumplings which were probably the best of the three, very large but a bit too doughy for my taste.

Back in town and stopped in to grab a little Kung Pao chicken. Fantastic as always, and how I remember it. The crack fried rice, er PORK fried rice crushed it– so addicting I assume it must have crack or some other illegal ingredient in it. FT Hunt, you can struggle to find somewhere else to get your Chinese fix or just sit back and let these folks deliver it to your face. Thanks for not changing HM!

Big fan of this spot for takeout or carryout Chinese. I thought they were all created equal and was operating under that assumption in this area for years. But we had a few of our family members over and ordered a variety from this location and noticed the difference. Everything was quick and service was friendly despite it being Saturday night and tons of people there. We ordered: eggplant Szechuan(amazing and delicious in every way despite seeming like a pile of mush) bean curd with mushrooms(decent with lots of veggies and well cooked tofu), general tsos(not spicy enough and sauce a little watery but well cooked real chicken), orange chicken(good), wonton soup(standard and good), spring rolls(not sure why anyone ever wants these they are always soggy by the time you eat them and Chinese places put too much roll and not enough stuffing, have them at a viet place and eat it there), garlic shrimp(spicy and flavorful with tons of veggies), Singapore noodles(good flavor, a little boring but not bad), veggie lo mein(tons of good veggies, way more than you usually see, sauce kinda dark and noodles a little too thick but still good). Everything came fast and lots of veggies in everything. Friendly service and some unique things on the menu. Will make this a standby.

when we were visiting family in Alexandria, we carried out food from here on our last night in town. our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs and we ordered a lot of food. my favorites were the hunan chicken, kung pao mixed vegetables and spicy dumplings. we also ordered beef and broccoli, vegetable fried rice and a couple other appetizers. everything just tasted fresh and healthy and I definitely ate more than I needed to. wish we had a good carry out place like this near where I live!
