I’d like to provide my highest recommendation and thanks for Overland 4×4. Thank you, John (and all of the staff), for your professionalism and thoroughness. To give context to everyone else — my 2 dr Wrangler was leaking water (a fairly common problem) from the door — on the passenger side it would soak the floor and on the driver side it would bounce off the door latch housing and soak the seat. After reading through several forums I tried a common fix of putting some RTV silicone into the corner where the door slopes down and the soft top meets the frame. That didn’t work and due to my haste at the time was quite sloppy. The leak got so bad that I eventually had to put a tarp over my Jeep (real rugged looking… not) with Hurricane Joaquin on the way. I looked up a Jeep/4×4 specialty shop and, seeing the favorable reviews, sent Overland a message about it. John replied within hours and said to bring it in and they would see what they might be able to do.
John took a look and thought it would be the door seals. No pressure — he said they could do it or I could do it. He also didn’t make me feel like an idiot, which is nice. I went home and decided I’d let the professionals handle it and brought it back the next morning. Here’s where I am most impressed with Overland.
After replacing the door seals they tested it and noticed it was still leaking. That was disappointing, but (1) not Overland’s fault and (2) how many places would have said «Well, we changed the door seals like we discussed and here you go.» The staff let me know what was going on and, as a secondary measure, John brought over an upholsterer to examine the soft top (no issues there) and a body expert to look at the doors and how they were sitting, the idea being that perhaps door re-​installation in the past had not been perfectly aligned. There were no issues with either, so then they tightened the top latches which helped significantly but did not completely eliminate the leak. The last remaining fix was the windshield header seal. I said go ahead — having come this far we might as well knock it out. They did that, tested it out and the leak was gone.
Though I would have loved to have been able to isolate the root cause first there is really no other way to go about such a repair other than a methodical approach like this unless there is something blatantly obvious causing the leak. We went with the most likely issues and worked from there. Turns out, the door seals that were previously on there were not to spec, so it’s fine that we fixed those anyway.
For anyone with a Jeep (or anything else they care about!), this is the place you want to go. I’ll be returning and have already recommended to several friends who are Land Rover enthusiasts. Also important — the staff were incredibly helpful and professional — even offering to stay a few minutes late for me to pick up after they closes. The shop is also immaculate.

I am extremely picky about who I let touch my Jeeps. I have to say, I trust Overland 4×4. They were very thorough in repairing numerous things on my Jeep recently. They were straightforward and I appreciate that. While I did drop about $ 1600 in repairs, it was for numerous things and was far less than what the dealer would have charged. I know my Jeep requires a lot of work, and I trust Overland 4×4 to take care of what she needs.

Theses guys over at overland 4×4 definitely know what they are talking about. Very knowledgeable and professional! Couldn’t find a better shop in the area if you ask me.

I just found out that Overland 4×4 has been under completely new ownership since 2013. The new owner, John, is clearly a Land Rover enthusiast and it shows throughout the shop. Overland’s waiting area has been remodeled with nostalgic Land Rover posters, various display parts, and comfortable chairs.
I returned to the shop due to some issues I had with repair that was performed prior to John’s ownership. In short, I noticed that a part on my P38 Range Rover had not been replaced in 2013 but I was charged. When I mentioned this last week, John, without hesitation, refunded me for the part over a year later. John also offered to look over my vehicle without appointment to confirm all other repairs were performed correctly.
Overall, it’s clear that John and Overland care about performing repairs and service correctly, working to earn customers trust by fully standing behind their work, and not just concerned about making the quick dollar. As a former mechanic, I can confidently say that it’s just as important to find a shop which can perform a repair at a competitive price as it is to find a shop that you trust will stand behind each repair without hesitation or hassle. Overland fits this description and I’ll be returning for those tough jobs I don’t have time for myself.

These guys are great, go see them before going to the dealer. After the dealer told me I needed a new engine that would cost more than the vehicle was worth I had my Range Rover brought in for a second opinion. Ended up being a simple fix and didn’t need the new 22k engine the dealer recommended. Save your time and money and just go here from the start.

I must admit I was a little hesitate to take my prized automobile to an independent shop that wasn’t a referral. I was far away from my usual spots in Virginia (even though I’ve been a six-​year resident of Maryland). Still, I trusted my gut, and the reviews on Unilocal and must honestly say I couldn’t be happier. John the owner really takes care of you. The shop is ultra clean, the service is first rate, and he really takes you through the recommended service. Parts had to be shipped in from the UK for my British beauty which made the wait longer than usual, but they kept me abreast every step of the way. And when one part got lost in shipping, they did everything they could to make sure my car was ready on time, and they came through with flying colors.
Again, I would not hesitate to recommend coming here. They have me as a lifetime customer.

Not impressed at all. All the good reviews on social media took me there. I’ve used these guys twice and won’t use them a third.
Give them a try, if you live nearby. Just be ready to have to take your car to LR afterwards to fix the fix they did…

Good effective service. At good prices too.

This is the BEST place in the dc metro to service your rover. I used to come here with the old owner and the new owner is even better. On several occasions, he’s found me 2^nd-​hand parts (GPS unit at $ 1000 vs $ 3000 new) and saved me tons of money. The rover dealers’ service depts are ripoffs when u compare for inferior service and maybe sometimes blatant pushing of unnecessary stuff. You’re gonna be saving tons of mullahs coming here.

I have done business with Overland 4×4 on numerous occasions and have driven away happy each time. John, the owner is very focused on doing the job right the first time, and he prides himself on being THE professional to go to for all of your automotive needs. The facilities are clean and well-​maintained and the seating area is very nice (has wi-​fi and nice leather seating). If you have a Land Rover, Range Rover, or any other type of off-​road SUV or vehicle that is out of warranty, I would strongly recommend to use the shop.

We’ve been clients at Overland 4×4 for several years having been dissatisfied with the pushy service advisors at Alexandria Land Rover. At the time, Overland offered high quality service without the pushy sales. Over the past year, Overland has apparently been sold. Gone is the nephew of «Lebanese Taverna» owners. While I have no doubt that Overland will continue to offer high quality service, it seems to me that the new owners have brought with them a philosophy of performing unnecessary maintenance. To wit, I was confronted with a hard sale on new brakes on all four corners – pads and rotors – to the cost of $ 1,250. Upon my inspection, the front rotors were nearly perfect; the rears needed replacement but they had been through TWO sets of pads following a dealers recommendation to replace. The pad were likely about halfway through their life. Pads and rotors are easy to replace … Two hours tops for all four corners. it’s easy money for repair facilities. (After confronting the managing partner about the front rotors, I was told that they would do pads only but no warranty and the brakes would squeal.) My issue is replacing parts with substantial remaining life. No wonder people are distrustful. State inspection requires a minimum pad thickness and the brake sensors will alert when the pads are at they end of their life. The last time a repair facility told me that I need new brakes on all for corners, I drove the RR for six months and 7,000 miles before the warning light illuminated. If they would have just alerted that the pads are NEARING end-​of-​life and they should be monitored, they would have a customer for the duration of my Range Rover ownership. Instead, I’m looking for a new Land Rover specialist. Maybe my Jaguar specialist will take pity on me.
FYI.I own four cars, two British and two Italian, and they all go to independent specialists who have earned my trust over the years.

Much easier to deal with than the LR dealership and cheaper as well. No need for an appointment for an oil change.

I just discovered Overland 4X4 is under new management with entirely new mechanics and I can’t recommend highly enough. New owner John Chapman and team know cars and have reinvented the shop into an A+ business. Ethical practices, quick turnaround, great workmanship and prices that can’t be beat. And now that John has hired mechanics experienced with several more exotic makes, I’ll be bringing my Porsche here as well.

Overland 4×4 is awesome! Their staff is very friendly and helpful. John is awesome! He knows all about Rovers! I love his consultative approach. Overland 4×4 is not a repair shop… It’s like having your own personal mechanic!

I have taken my 2003 LandRover Discovery (100K miles +) to Overland twice this year and both times I received impeccable customer service. Emad, the front office manager, goes above and beyond to meet the customer’s needs. He is so friendly and professional. Everyone in the front office will treat you like family.
Unless you take your vehicle to a Land Rover dealership it is very difficult to find mechanics who are experienced with these vehicles. Overland is an excellent alternative because they have the expertise and their prices are competitive. They know Land Rovers inside out.

I own a 2003 Landrover Freelander. Since I’ve lived in Arlington, I’ve enjoyed the new hobby of using public transportation to get me around. I take the metro to work at DC and to mostly everywhere where parking is a challenge. So you can imagine my sadness, when my private transportation broke down. I was needless to say, bummed.
As a Range Rover fan, I have been an avid fan of going to the dealership for several reasons. One is that customer service is always fabulous. They give a new meaning to personal service. I know this because I’ve been to Ranger Rover dealerships in AZ, NC, TX, and now VA. The customer service is consistent and I always feel like my car is fixed correctly. Second, I always feel like they know what they’re doing! My car drives awesome afterwards!
But here’s the thing, taking my car to the dealership is EXPENSIVE. At the time my car broke down, I was in a little bit of a financial crunch. So I had to look around for an alternative. I found Roverland 4×4. First of all, they have QUALIFIED Range Rover specialists. This means it’s not just some mechanic who says he can fix your car and then end up breaking it because they don’t know how to fix British/​European cars. Second, the folks at Roverland answered all my questions and was very patient with me. Believe me, I ask ALOT of questions. I’m a girl and don’t know very much about cars — so I ask questions to understand. I’m one of those pain-​in-​the-​a$$ girls who’ll want you to show her what you did to fix her car. But Roverland did that and more. They had my car for about 4 days, and called me daily for updates. I really really appreciated that. I mean, the repairs were still expensive (almost 3K), but I felt like they knew what they were doing and weren’t trying to screw me because I’m a girl. They also gave me a little bit of discount after I told them I couldn’t pay more than 3K. So that’s a little something.
Lastly, they told me that my car now drives like it’s new. Seriously, they weren’t kidding. I’d tell you what they fixed, but I fear I probably won’t make any sense.
They did a great job and since this was my first experience with them, there’s no reason for me not to go back to them.
