About Seichou Karate®

«Seichou» means «growth» in Japanese. So, we teach strong Japanese karate and judo and cultural arts (like Japanese language, calligraphy, flower arranging) that empower our students to achieve bold goals.

Essential Elements of Seichou Karate®

(1) Using the entire body and how to move for dynamic self-defense, (2) performing movement patterns against imaginary opponents, and (3) contact sparring in a controlled context.

The Seichou Karate® Difference

1st, since a good karate dojo is a special place where great learning and human interaction take place, students must hold the dojo and each other in special esteem. 2nd, our program is for students who commit to personal growth by attending class regularly. 3rd, we don’t rush our students through the ranks. Instead, we require our students to dominate each level of our curriculum before moving onto the next. Through patient, rigorous practice students refine their character and bodies for profound personal growth in the spirit of traditional Japanese martial arts.

Seichou Karate® History

Established in 1997…

History

Established in 1997.

Sensei Romero founded Seichou Karate® to help students to achieve a high level of physical conditioning as well as mental focus and a balanced attitude that would help them succeed in their everyday lives.

In 2000, Seichou Karate® began a long partnership Sport & Health, a leading DC-area chain of fitness clubs. Our business grew steadily and with members ranging in age from 12 to 85, divided equally between males and females.

In early 2008, Seichou Karate® opened a state-of-the-art facility at 807 North Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria. The 2,100 square foot quintessentially Japanese dojo allows Seichou Karate® to offer general karate and rank-specific classes for highly effective training.
