Shawn was great — super knowledgeable about everything (which I needed!), and unbelievably helpful through every step of the process. He handled the sale of my condo (my first sale). I was moving out of state pretty much as soon as we listed and he handled a ton of things while I was gone. I don’t know how I would have done it if he hadn’t been so helpful and on top of it all.
Condo sold in two weeks for more than asking. I really can’t say enough good things about Shawn and everything that he did for me. Plus he’s just really nice, easy to work with and a great guy. Highly recommend — you can’t go wrong with Shawn as your realtor. :)

My husband and I just bought our first home in Rosemont and we used Shaun as our buyer’s agent because of his incredible online ratings. Shaun knows Alexandria better than anyone else we met with, and he was so easy to work with that house buying became «fun» instead of a «project.» He is easygoing but thorough, laid-​back but also a terrific advocate for you. He was flexible with scheduling and efficient in getting us into appointments. Ultimately, we got a home under market before it went to open house due to his thorough research and insight into the property. Not only was our experience successful, but also a very pleasant time.

My husband and I recently bought our first home and hired Shaun as our Buyer’s Agent based on these very Unilocal reviews. I was hesitant at first because you rarely see any business with reviews like these without suspecting there’s something shady going on, but Shaun is actually just this good. We planned on meeting with Shaun and meeting with a few other agents to choose the one we liked the best, but we cancelled our other appointments as soon as we met Shaun.
At our first meeting, Shaun spent an hour and a half with us explaining the home buying process, various neighborhoods, the market, etc. There was zero pressure to «hire» him — he didn’t have that annoying sales pitch personality AT ALL (which I suspect helps him sell houses like crazy as a seller’s agent and helps him work well with seller’s agents when acting as a buyer’s agent).
Since we were new to the area, we asked for his recommendations for a number of things: mortgage broker, inspector, painter, flooring company, etc. Everyone he recommended was great and I have since had friends use these same people with the same rave reviews. Shaun was always incredibly fast to respond to our e-​mails or phone calls and even responded while on vacation. Throughout the entire experience we kept wanting to say «this was the easiest thing we’ve ever done!» but continued to hold out until closing just in case everything fell apart. It never did and we have Shaun to thank for keeping everything running so smoothly.
We recommend Shaun without reservation. If/​when we sell this house and buy another, we will absolutely be contacting him again.

Shaun was fantastic. I had to put my house up for sale during winter with all the snow. He helped identify what I repairs I needed to make it more attractive. I moved out of state and Shaun was great at working with the repairmen and others to get it into shape.

My wife and I bought our first home in 2014 while planning our wedding. That was understandably, a very stressful and exciting time for us both. We used Shaun in our search because of the glowing reviews that others had offered, and we were thrilled to have a similar experience with him. He guided us through every step and gave us valuable information about neighborhoods we were interested in. He listened to our concerns, was always reachable and flexible to show properties, and found us our home after only a few weeks of looking. I honestly didn’t know someone is sales could be that effective yet low pressure at the same time. Moving from Seattle, in a market with zero contacts, we thought why not give a well reviewed Realtor on Unilocal a try? This was not our first home purchase therefore we had high expectations of our Realtor. Not only of the area and it’s trends, but also to be seasoned enough to confidently handle the transaction and promptly follow up — most importantly we needed someone we could trust as we were still living across the country. Shawn did not disappoint. He provided a great service from start to finish and was a tremendous help in making the move east a smooth one. He’s a straight shooter and would recommend him in buying a home!

I enlisted Shaun as my agent for my first home purchase late last year. In a word, Shaun was excellent. He was exactly what I had hoped for out of a real estate agent. He was patient, knowledgeable and helpful. I understandably had a ton of questions about the process, some stupid, and he answered all of them patiently, accurately and honestly.
When I came to Shaun initially, it was just after I had «parted ways» with my first agent. I also needed the piece of mind that with the counsel and advisement of my agent, I was going to avoid as many of the pitfalls and mistakes as possible that one encounters during the home purchase process. Shaun provided all of that. I quickly realized I was in good hands with him.
I’ve been in my condo for 7 months now and couldn’t be happier. Don’t hesitate to enlist Shaun for all of your real estate needs. You won’t regret it. He’s fantastic.

I would highly recommend Shaun to anyone looking to buy a home. He helped us find a home last Fall. Within 13 days of searching, our contract have been approved. He was very active in pushing new listings to us. He even helped us make the wise choice of looking at a different area in Alexandria. When it came time to make an offer, the place where a realtor earns his keep, we were able to beat out four other offers. He recently helped us buy our second home after we moved back from overseas, in a market that was super competitive with very low inventory. It was a stressful time to be looking and sometimes felt like there was nothing out there for us, but Shaun never lost hope and stayed motivated for us. He is very quick to respond to e-​mails or calls, always made time in what I know is a very busy schedule to get us out to see possible houses, was calm, knowledgeable and focused even when we were tired and frustrated with the process. He had a knack for asking just the right questions to get us thinking practically instead of just emotionally about a house, without ever being pushy or discounting what we were feeling. He never pushed us to the easy sale, or to the top of our budget, but clearly wanted to find the right house for our family. We had full confidence in his ability to negotiate for us with other realtors, to think competitively, and to walk us through the process from looking to offer to inspection to closing. He also quickly became one of our little boys’ favorite people ever — they were always happy to look at more houses with «Mr. Shaun.» We have worked with other realtors in the past, and they don’t come close to Shaun! Simply put, this is the guy you want when you are buying or selling your house.

Shaun is a rare find. He combines the friendly, low key, patient client handling of a small town Realtor with the aggressive, balls to the wall persistence needed to score the best house in the super competitive inside the beltway market. My dad is a country Realtor, and I always loved the way he handled his clients. never pushy at all, took his time, and made sure that everyone came away happy, even if it took months to find the right place. But, we thought his type could never compete in a market as fast paced as Northern Virginia, and after initial consultations with fast-​talking used car salesman types at multiple open houses, we figured we’d just have to make do with that type…
Luckily, I found Shaun online and he turned out to have the best of both worlds. He was able to navigate our poorly defined requirements and helped us quickly target our desired neighborhood, then steered us through several offers (that fell through due to us not taking his initial pricing advice in one case, and a strange seller in the other case). When the perfect house came up, he was able to jump on the listing before anyone else, coordinate with the selling Realtor and get a solid offer out before the competition even noticed the listing. We got the house and couldn’t be happier…
Shaun was also excellent in the post offer period, helping us coordinate all the paperwork and various headaches that popped up. Highly recommend him if you want a steady hand in a competitive market!

Simply put, Shaun is as good as they come. Shaun just helped us complete both the sale of our previous home, and the purchase of another. He has my whole-​hearted recommendation for anyone looking to buy or sell. There are more reasons for this than I can really list here, but let me focus on just a few of them.
Personal Attention — From day one, Shaun’s main focus was learning about our specific needs and what we needed to accomplish through this move. He understood that our situation was unique and was completely focused on helping us get into a place that would be right for our family. In the past, I’ve experienced agents who are more interested in expressing their opinion than in learning the unique needs of their clients. Not Shaun. He was willing to think outside the box with us, and as a result we are literally on cloud nine in our new home.
Negotiating Skills — Shaun was not intimidated by the fact that we did not have much financial wiggle room. We were looking to make a lateral move price-​wise into a more family-​friendly location, and every dollar was important in making that possible. Shaun’s knowledge of the market and strong negotiating skills were essential in maximizing every dollar and making what seemed impossible a reality.
Marketing — Because of our own set of unique circumstances, we were looking to complete both the sale of our home and the purchase of the next home in a very short period of time. Shaun was extremely helpful in guiding us through a a strategy to accomplish this… from prepping our home, to listing it, to shopping for the next home. Because of his guidance, our home sold the first weekend it was listed, and we closed on our new place very shortly after. In a span of a couple months, we went from talking about listing one place to fully moved into the next. Truly remarkable.
Unselfish — This overlaps a bit with the first paragraph, but throughout the entire process of both transactions, Shaun regularly considered only our best interests, and never his own. There were numerous occasions where he could have easily guided us toward an easier, quicker, or more lucrative outcome. Shaun never did that. He always focused on keeping us aimed at what would work best for our family, and what would help keep us financially secure. Of all the good things I could say about Shaun, this one is probably the most important. He is truly your advocate in the home-​selling/​buying process. It’s fairly easy to find an agent skilled in the mechanics of a real estate transaction. It’s not so easy to find one interested in being your advocate first and foremost. Shaun is both.
To sum it up, I’ll be using Shaun for any future real estate needs in this area, and you should too. He’s the best.

Shaun is pretty much as good as it gets. He sold my parents home recently and feel like we hit the jackpot in terms of finding someone like him.
First off, my parents are very hard to please especially with this home, as this property is their baby. With that said, my mother actually mentioned at one point that Shaun almost felt like her random perfect «son» that sprung out of nowhere, because he was treating the property and this situation as if it belonged to his own parents.
I am in NY, my sister is in CA, my parents live in Korea, with our home in Virginia. So you can imagine how nervous we all felt trying to sell the home. But as my parents mentioned, I really felt like we had a 5^th member in our family that came out of nowhere to take care of us who just happened to know all about the real estate business in the area. That is how trustworthy Shaun is, as he really wants the best for you.
My sister and I (also both our husbands) couldn’t even both keep up with my dad’s multiple questions, worries & requests-​but Shaun was able to handle them all without any problems even with a cultural & language barrier.
He is very intuitive, extremely professional, SMART, knowledgeable, and quick-​thinking. Every observation and intuition he made regarding the market were right on the dot.

I actually found Shaun on Unilocal exactly about two months ago when my parents were looking to sell their house in Mclean, Virginia. The previous agent wasn’t working out so I went hunting for a right one. Of course I’m in California which means all of this work had to be done via text/​phone/​email!!! I sent a request at 9PM California time that day and received a response from him exactly less than an hour which meant he was working super late! (mind you, this was on a FRIDAY!) From there on I knew we found our agent! He immediately assessed the house, provided very constructive feedback to make the house «sellable» and within 6 weeks, managed to get a full priced offer and recently closed the sale. I can’t begin to say that if you are looking for a hard working, dedicated, knowledgable and HONEST agent, Shaun is the right guy for you.
I really hope we will get a chance to work again because he actually made selling a home fun and put everything in perspective!!! If I EVER move to DC/​VIrginia area, I KNOW who I will call!

Shaun is a great realtor! When my family had to move down here, we moved within a couple weeks.
A family friend introduced us to their family member Shaun Murphy. Shaun instantly wanted to help and did his hardest to put us in a temporary home so that we can establish a life and build. Because of the recession and immense of foreclosures the houses that were out there needed a lot of work. Shaun was able to help us evaluate our situation and figure out what we exactly wanted!
