Sonia Salgado, MD

Don’t go to her. Sonia Salgado is apathy, rude and unprofessional. First, I went to her since I was around 4 months pregnant with my first child because I’m a Latin and I wanted to have a doctor who spoke Spanish, so I could fully understand everything regarding my baby and I health. To make a long story short, I was having my first baby and everything was fine, with no complications throughout my pregnancy or at labor.
The day I was admitted in the hospital to go into labor, the first thing that came out of her mouth was, «if you don’t have the baby by noon, I’ll have to pass you to another doctor (I can’t remember the name) because I have to go to pick up my kids and my husband is out of town.»
I wanted to try to have my baby natural since everything was fine, but for some reason she wanted to do a csection and kept pressing me out.
Then, she came back around an hour later and told me that the lady that was in the room in front of mine, came after me and she already had the baby, and that she couldn’t understand why I wanted to have a vaginal birth so bad and didn’t want a C-​section. Then, a few hours later she came back with the same thing that she couldn’t understand why I was so pressed to have the baby natural and she added, «I have 2 children, I had one natural and the other one with a csection and it is the same thing– there is no difference between a csection and a vaginal birth.»
I kept saying, I don’t want an unnecessary surgery if I don’t need it.
Then, she started asking me a few times the same question that if my husband abused me, yes she asked me that in the middle of my labor and she asked me that while my husband went out to get something to eat. Unbelievable!!!
Thus, I ended up having an unnecessary csection that until this day I can’t find the reason why she was so pushy about doing me a csection.
A few years ago, I was pregnant with my second baby and the obstetrician asked me, «why did you have a csection with your first pregnancy?» I told him because the doctor that I was seeing, Sonia Salgado wanted to. He told me, she had to have a reason why she did a csection, so I told him– «no reason, she was pressing me out and wanted to leave since I got in the hospital.» So, on my next appointment I brought him my medical record, he read it and said, «you are right, no complications– no reason at all why you had a csection. Umm»
In conclusion, don’t go to her — to pay your money to a «doctor» who is cold, who doesn’t respect you as a patient nor as a human being, who violates your rights and who does whatever is convenient for her not for the patient. Years have passed and it still bothers me until this day that I didn’t speak up and stand my grounds to stop her from doing whatever she wanted to do in my body.

I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. My doctor was Sonia Salgado.
First appointment went ok, even though, she did few exams on me which she said my insurance will cover, it never did and I end paying for them… Second appointment, she made me wait 15 minutes outside, inside her office 45 min. more. Why??? She wasn’t ready, her assistant never found my medical records. That’s the reason she gave me … When the results of the tests she made on me came, and she told me I need more vitamin D… I asked her what did she suggests me to get in order to have more vitamin D? her answer was…“Google it”. Can you believe a doctor answers like that???
She referred me to an specialist for my fibroids, I went there (they are pretty good), maybe the best thing she did.
On the third appointment with her, when I asked her regarding my fibroids, her answer was…” we will see that later, is not important now, it’s too early, plus I have other patients waiting for me outside”, she was very rude.
On top of that… she told me «next time ask more questions to the specialist, your insurance pays them a lot», like if she doesn’t make enough money with me.
This is not the type of service we deserve. This is the worst experience I had.

Dr. Salgado is very personable, friendly, patient and makes you feel at ease. There was some booking trouble, which was not her fault. The overall visit itself was very easy.

Dr. Salgado had actually been recommended by a friend of mine, but after seeing her, I don’t know why. I was told to arrive 15 min. before my appt. time. I did, and it was AFTER my appt. time was supposed to begin that I was even called up to begin to fill out paperwork. When I finally saw the doctor, she spent about 5 min. talking with me before my exam. In the past with other doctors, I’ve had my exam, gotten dressed, and then the doctor comes back in and we discuss things. After my exam, Dr. Salgado told me to get dressed and that she’d be back with my prescription. A nurse came back– I asked her if the doctor was coming back because I had some things I wanted to discuss with her. She said, «I’ll go see.» She comes back and says «no», here’s your Rx. No? She was just here 60 seconds ago, and she can’t come back in for 5 – 10 minutes to talk to me? Very poor customer service. Literally the doctor spent 5 minutes with me and never once asked if I had any questions or anything. 5 minutes with a new patient is unacceptable. We didn’t discuss my history, family history, concerns, questions, nothing. Wham-​bam thank you maam, pap smear, and that was it. I’m very disappointed that I wasted the one time a year my insurance pays for me to go to the gyn. on this doctor. Will not be back!
