Sweet Frog

I tried their new flavor Hawaiian Delight and it was great. The girl behind the register was very nice and even gave us samples to taste. The place was clean and environment was great they had a tv that was playing shows. Overall a great experience, the kids loved it and we will definitely be back.

Two stars for the manager’s acknowledgment of the issues at his establishment, but I can’t give this sweet frog 2 stars to keep the rating so high.
First Email to manager:
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to you concerning my experience at the SweetFrog in Alexandria, VA on Duke Street on 9÷6÷2015 at 1500 (3 PM). My wife and entered the SweetFrog as we have done many times for a couple years now and just wanted a nice dessert after a good day out.
Sanitary Concern: My wife got her dessert and then proceeded to the fruit and toppings and found two dirty spoons in the strawberry and blueberry trays. The spoons had a thick layer of black slime on them. My wife told the attendant about the dirty spoons as shown above in the two figures (notice a dirty blueberry spoon in the strawberry tray), and the attendant said it was a natural discoloration caused from the strawberries. This is not possible, clearly the spoons were dirty.
Lack of Customer Service/​Attendant Arguing With My Wife: The attendant proceeded to say that all the other customers that day had taken the fruit with no issues, so it should not be a problem for my wife to use the dirty/​contaminated spoons. My wife proceeded to try and ask why the blackberry spoon was also covered in a brown layer, and the attendant said that all the fruit causes discoloration on the utensils. As the attendant kept saying she was wrong about the spoons and that she should just eat the fruit, my wife said, «Why are you fighting with me? Can’t you just clean the spoons?» The attendant didn’t apologize or simply switch out the utensils, just an incredulous look. We left with yogurt and NO TOPPINGS. That is the WHOLE point of SweetFrog and any other frozen yogurt business. Needless to say we were completely dissatisfied and we will not be going back as a result to that particular location.
Afterwords: After all of this unfolded we left and didn’t take the pictures right away as we should have right away. My wife was very upset after being disrespected and while also being concerned about cross contamination. Thus, I went back in to the establishment and took the pictures above. I noticed the attendant CLEANING the spoons with a white dirty rag and putting them back into the containers. I’m convinced all she did was use water and a dirty rag to wipe away the black smudge stuff (whatever it was) as she knows she was wrong. She asked me not to take any pictures — I wonder why…
I wanted to write this email to inform you about the argumentative worker and the tainted spoons that are being used and not washed. My wife works in the food inspection field and she knows the importance of a clean facility. Please understand that it is important to ensure that all is being done to prevent customers from becoming ill by following basic health safety regulations.
Second Email:
Thanks so much for the two free frozen yogurts. After convincing my wife to give it a second try because of how nice you were today, we decided to stop by. However, when we got to the stores door at 9:07 pm the doors were locked and half the toppings were already put away. The young gentleman came out and apologized, stating that he had not worked in 3 months and thought it was time close the store even though the door clearly states 10 pm is the closing time. Since half the toppings were put away, we decided not to go in. Hopefully the next time we come back there will be clean spoons and new employees. Cheers.
Anyway:
I love frozen yogurt so I’ll go to the Van Dorn branch. Good luck on your next visit. Keep your fingers crossed for us too!

Great flavors! Fun toppings! Kinda expensive if you add a lot of yogurt and toppings because it is heavy.

I’m a happy customer after the first visit. Showed up at 10 til 10 and was treated like the first customer. She filled up the toppings even though she was closing in 10 minutes. This location will be my «go-​to» over the Arlington location on Glebe rd. The customer service is worth the extra 10 minute drive to come to this location.

Probably the best sweet frog in the northern va/​DC metro area. The employees are all very sweet and kind, a week ago I was short a couple dollars then an employee named sierra took the two dollars away from her tip and helped me. A few days later I came back and gave her a gracious tip bc it’s hard to find good people these days and I wanted to let her know I appreciated her. She definitely deserves a raise, because her kindness will go a long way in this company
I also met with the owner a few times sam and he was excellent
The toppings were all neatly organized and there was a wide arrange of options, I especially liked the non dairy options as I am lactose intolerant and my friend enjoyed it as well bc she is a vegan
A few times I have been it was very busy, but what frozen yogurt place isn’t when the weather gets nice out. Honestly there are no complaints, I’ve been to a few different locations and the difference here is the customer service, although the other locations like falls church and leesburg pike are nice, that one act of kindness from sierra has stuck in my mind

They have a bunch of choices of toppings and a decent selection of yogurts. There’s plenty of seating and walking distance to a bunch of eateries so park and eat something THEN get some frozen yogurt.

Yummy froyo! They have a wide selection of yogurt and toppings for whatever you want to try out. Inside is clean and they have a tv to watch. The one girl that was working (seemed to be alone) was very nice and looked like she genuinely liked her job. The downsides are the parking (shared with many other businesses) is very hard to get a spot and the seating inside, if you’re there with a group I would find it difficult to all sit along with the other customers.

My fiancé and I love this place! We come here every weekend for a cheap and somewhat healthy treat option! They have great flavors to choose from. I usually get alpine vanilla and my fiancé gets the mint flavored. They have a ton of toppings to choose from and it’s always very clean! They do a great job of keeping each topping in their separate container and the staff is always very friendly!

After dinner at Rocklands across the street we came to this frozen yogurt shop. The good thing is that it’s open till 10pm every night. Nothing really special about this place. They did have around 10 flavors and the chocolate turtle flavor was pretty tasty. As for the toppings, they had a decent selection of fruits and candy. Everything was clean and the staff friendly. I wish they had free water like some of the other frozen yogurt shops.

When we asked for a sample cup, she gave us a stack and then offered more if we needed them! What sweet service with a friendly attitude! I personally like that the allergens are listed on each flavor. Sweet coconut, mint, and strawberry are favorites of mine. They have a good selection of toppings. Sweet Frog seems to employ good business practices, at least with customer service. Approved.

I love Sweet Frog and always go at least once a month. The only reason why I’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that A.) they don’t change the flavors up as fast as other SF’s I’ve been too and B.) they told me they are only accepting the phone or electronic cards for the loyalty program which unfortunately does not work for me as I have a Microsoft phone not an android or apple phone. However other SF’s are just fine with the loyalty cards that I’ve been working with.
Otherwise this place is good for a quick stop for some awesome yogurt with delicious toppings!

I was stuffed from the Mexican dinner that we ate so while I couldn’t partake in an entire serving of frozen yogurt for myself I did get to try some samplings of this deliciousness. I tried the apple pie and coconut and would definitely recommend either but was leaning towards the coconut. It even had some coconut flakes mixed in… if you don’t like coconut stay away from this flavor.
We have similar concepts to Sweet Frog where I live but I have yet to see such creative flavors!

I usually go to the location on Van Dorn but happened to be at the AT&T store nearby so came in here for some of my favorite Frog.
Plus — They have different and I feel more interesting flavors at this Sweet Frog than the other. On this day I had Key Lime, Mango and something else that I can’t remember.
Minus — This location is a lot smaller space. So while there are just as many flavors of yogurt and all the same toppings, there’s lest space to sit and dine in. So its not as inviting to linger. But they did have a few small tables outside which Van Dorn doesn’t have.
Otherwise you’re going to get the same great Sweet Frog experience here as all the other SF’s I’ve been to. Great yogurt, lots of toppings you can dish up yourself, and friendly staff.

I really love Sweet Frog. Yogurt flavors are great. The texture is creamy, not icy. Love the coconut! Recommended for adults and little ones!

I love frozen yogurt and sweet frog has some of the best. They have a lot of yogurt flavor options and good toppings.

Peanut butter and vanilla can be swirled here … Awesome!
There are plenty of yogurt choices with toppings and an adorable little frog that can be seen as a main theme throughout the restaurant.
As for the atmosphere, I’d say this joint would be great for a parent/​child outing or a girl scout troop adventure for parents with kids. The cute décor and plenty of sit down space make it family friendly.
However, for those sans kids like me, I think the delicious flavors will draw you in too.

Froyo never tasted so sweet! A bevy of flavors to choose from, such as cake batter, red velvet, mango, strawberry. Lots and lots of toppings like kiwi and Oreo. The décor in here is so sweet, almost kitschy, but I guess it fits. One thing to note is the sizing. Cups are huge. You can get a good bit of froyo for under $ 5. Go for it.

I love Sweetfrog! They let you sample different flavors which change frequently. They have a lot of topping options as well! It cute and quirky inside and pay-​by-​weight, my favorite option! The texture is similar to fro ZEN Yo in DC which makes me a happy camper. If you like a soft serve-​like texture (vs icy) check them out!

I love this Sweet Frog. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars, is because they don’t change some of the flavors often enough. BUT that’ being said, they have a delicious cake batter flavor, that most SF’s carry. Another delicious option is the orange all the way at the end, it tastes yummy by itself, with no toppings. The place is clean and bright, parking can be a bit of a hassle, but it’s worth it. I come here about once a week with my kids, and it’s very kid friendly and has never been too busy like some of the other SF’s in the area. I just wish they would update their FB page to show what flavors they have during the week.
