Dr. Tolson is a good dentist to see for regular preventative care. Things like fillings, and cleanings, I’ve recieved good results. However if you need specialized work like a bridge, dental implants or anything more specialized, do yourself a favor and see a specialist. I had a 6 unit bridge done by Dr. Tolson which looked great when it was done, but within a two year period the bridge work started to chip, even though I took very good care of the bridge and to floss regularly using a water pick and to get regular checkups. The lab probably used cheap material too. After the fourth year of the bridge the whole bridge broke. A bridge should last at least 10 years or more with quality materials. I visited 2 different specialized dentist to take the broken bridge out and they both were very surprized at the inferior quality of the bridge done by Dr. Tolson and asked was it done in a third world country? They said the bridge should have never done because a 6 unit bridge was way too long and there was no support for the bridge which would eventually collapse. These dentist said impants would have been a better choice. Before I got the bridge I asked Dr. Tolson about implants and he advised that they were not feasable because there was not enough bone due to bone loss. But he did not mention that bone grafting could be done which would have made the implants feasble. I don’t think Dr. Tolson or his staff even knew how to do any bone grafting or the latest technology advances. My new dentist says bone grafting is definately possible. So now years after spending several thousands of dollars on a worthless bridge that crumbled after a few years, I need to spend several more thousands of dollars to replace the work. Not to mention going out in the public with a broken crooked bridge. My new dentist has to now take the bridge that Dr. Tolson did out and start from scratch. I am very dissapointed with Dr. Tolson’s work and should have seen a specialist from the start. people don’t have money to blow like that. My advise is to go to another specialist dentist who has the lastest technology and skills for any major work done.

I agree with the previous review that states that the front office desk is not so great, which is why I am taking off one star. I have been going to Dr. Tolson since moving to the area in the early 2000s. What I like about Dr. Tolson is that he does not try to bill/sell you extravagant procedures. In an attempt to move to a dentist closer to my home, I went to another dentist. Note: It had been about two years since I had seen a dentist. He recommended I get a deep cleaning procedure that I luckily could not get due to pregnancy. He lied to me about what my insurance covered and didn’t cover, which had I gotten the procedures he recommended, I would have been out several thousand dollars. I hightailed it out of there and called Dr. Tolson. I, of course, just needed a cleaning, and had a few small fillings… it is nice to go to a dentist who is honest!

I have to agree with the above writer that Dr. Tolson is a great dentist and they have a great hygenist as well. However, their front desk person or people are so extremely rude that it has made going in to Dr. Tolson’s office intolerable. The dentist is already not my favorite place and for that to be meet with, simply put, rude and unprofessional behavior is unacceptable. Expect the person who answers the phone to cut you off and respond in a snarky manner if you would like to do anything from making an appointment to calling about a bill. I have canceled all future appointments.

Dr. Tolson is a great dentist! I feel very comfortable with him. My husband and I both go to him; we were without dental insurance for awhile so had been remiss with the dentist before we moved here. Dr. Tolson never recommends over the top procedures(e.g. something crazy like veneers), and his prices are reasonable. My husband said he’s never gotten such thorough instructions on teeth brushing, and he actually learned a lot. The office is not overly flashy, so you don’t feel like you’re being billed simply to pay for a bunch of brand new equipment. But everything is clean and sterilized. His walls are covered in gifts that patients have given him.
