This is a great place for Brazilian waxes! Free, my waxer, is so kind and does a great job. She makes you feel so comfortable. I’ve been to many waxers and find her to be one of the best!

I had Brazilian sugaring with Olivia. She is very good at what she does and she was very friendly. I would definitely go back whenever I am around the area.

Olivia is Amazing ! She does great with waxing ! I would not go to any one else! She made me feel so comfortable & talked with me through the whole process!

I just came back from doing my hair at Yalda’s and as usual I’m very satisfied with the services. I’ve been a customer with them since Fall 2010 — I had just moved to the area, back in Ballston where they had their first store, and I was looking for a new salon to go to. Let’s just say I haven’t been elsewhere since. The staff there is amazing, just a fun vibe to be around. I usually have my hair done by Free (and Ida sometimes when she was still in town) and if you know her, you know she does an amazing job. She’s very dedicated and takes her time to do the job right. Throughout the years I’ve brought a few friends to the salon to either get their hair done, or nails, and sometimes for a wax and they’ve always been satisfied. Free has an amazing personality and even if the new store is further away from me now (I still live by Ballston) I still go to her when I need something done. Take a chance and check this place out, trust me you won’t regret it :)

Free was amazing! I was nervous about the sugaring Brazilian but she made me feel comfortable! It was a breeze-​ha! Got a 3 for 2 deal! Def will be going back for my hair removal needs! Hint hint: they also wax men! Love them

Ive had my first brazilian there and it was painful but they made me feel comfortable, which is important in these matters. I came again and this time it was even better. I love the scheduling system via a text message, which is very convenient and you get a response from the owner immediately.

Quite possibly the foulest «salon» I’ve visited.
Looking for an Old Town salon that could handle a last minute wax appointment, a quick Unilocal search pointed me toward Yalda’s.
My mistake.
I called before driving there to see if they could take me– sure come right now, the receptionist said.
First of all, it’s confusing to find. Located in the 2^nd floor of a Mexican restaurant, in a weird semi-​industrial semi-​commercial part of north Old Town. There is some metered parking on the street, and it’s not near metro.
The hallway was filthy, and a crooked old poster was taped on the door announcing that it was Yalda’s. Consider that your warning.
After seating myself with no staff member in sight, I waited for 20 minutes, then someone came out and said the wax esthetician was with a client and could see me soon.
It was a Friday afternoon but the salon was eerily empty, save for one other customer, and the stations looked abandoned and unkempt. Usually a salon is buzzing before the weekend!
The bathroom was nasty, with soap grime built up on the soap dispenser, no mirror, broken fixtures and an overflowing trash basket.
Kept thinking I was going to get Punked. Is the salon up to code? Questionable.
Growing weary, I asked how much the wax would be, and how much longer. $ 60, the receptionist (Yalda?) stated without blinking. I quickly scanned my memory of where on earth I had paid that much (or more) for a bikini wax… Oh yea, Bliss Spa at the W, or an Aveda lifestyle salon spa, both with spotless accommodations, tea, steam showers, etc. Again, was this a joke?
Finally an aesthetician (I’m assuming) stepped out of a room, rubbed her nose with the palm of her hand several times and moaned about «having caught something.»
Utterly grossed out, I declined their services and moved on.
Btw, the nice, clean, well-​staffed and polite nail salon downstairs takes walk ins!

I’ve been here twice, the first time with Olivia was great! She made me feel comfortable and did a wonderful job on my Brazilian. However, the second time I came at my 10:15am apt time, the door was locked and the open sign was off and nobody answered my calls. I stood outside toning the door bell and calling for 15 min then left.

This place is one of the most unprofessional and unwelcoming I have ever been to. I bought a groupon to have a full color and cut done. I spoke to the owner of the salon when making the appointment. I asked her does this groupon cover a full color and cut, she enthusiastically responded «yes!» I go in and when I arrive I am not greeted just told to sit down. I wait for like 40 min and finally 20 min after my scheduled time I am acknowledged. The stylist very quickly tells me that the groupon does not cover full color it is only for color touch up. I explain to her that I spoke to the owner directly and she told me that it was covered her response to me was «she doesn’t know what she’s talking about she’s never even here.» The sad part is the receptionist added her two cents by saying «she don’t know nothing.»
She goes on to tell me I need color correction anyways, and goes on and on… just to say everything would be about $ 200. I literally just told her it’s fine I will go home. I grabbed my purse and she jokingly says «I can do a Brazilian wax for the price of the groupon» her and the receptionist laughed together. I just walked out. I will never go back and I will tell everyone what a horrible place this is.

I bought a living social deal for a Brazilian wax. When I got there, she told me that sugar wax was better. And I could pay $ 10 extra for sugar wax. I went ahead and did that. And I regret it. The bed was not fully clean. There was wax from a previous client. When I got home, I broke out very badly. I don’t blame this on the salon, my skin can’t be sensitive. However, after several days, I realized that it was not properly waxed. It is not smooth, it’s almost like it was shaved. There is stubble and lots of ingrown hairs. It was a sloppy job.
This is not the first time I’ve had a Brazilian wax. The skin should be smooth and hair free for at least a few weeks. This is terrible.

After waiting 30 min after my appointment time they were able to take me back for a wax. The process was quick by she left multiple bruises on me and didn’t remove all the hair

Purchased living social deal and got an appointment same day with Olivia for sugar waxing. Olivia was very detailed, fast, and friendly. I think I found a new place to go for my waxing needs. Parking is ample and pricing is even better!

The shop is really nice. They are located at the end of the corner and plenty of free Street parking all around. Very easy to find. Head right up the stairs to their front door.
Just got my first Born again Brazilian today by Tina.
I’ve been self waxing for a while and able to tolerate any pain or discomfort fairly well. When Tina pulled the first time it didn’t feel like a wax at all. I there wasn’t any pain. She got every book and cranny! She kept me talking the entire time and kept my mind at ease. Any nervousness that’s I had at the door was gone. I don’t think it took us 20 minutes if that.
I came in on a Living Social deal and left a new customer! There is currently a 3/​$ 120 deal for Brazilian waxes they are running. I definitely took advantage of that.
On the way out I got a chance to meet the other ladies as it was just Tina and I when we started. Every single one greeted me. I loved that. It made me and my patronage feel welcome here.

One of the best waxing experiences I’ve ever had!!! Ida (the owner) is the best! VERY accommodating to customers – we had a large group, and she offered to open just for us on Sunday! She is also extremely friendly and makes the waxing experience fun!!!
Her shop doesn’t look the fanciest, but do not judge a book by its cover, the service you get here is TOP NOTCH!!!
Also if you’ve never used sugar for your waxes, I HIGHLY recommend!!! You will never go back to the old ways. (Not sure about hard wax yet, but sugar waxing is the best!!)

If there was a way to rate this below a 1 star I would. I payed for a wax of my legs and a bikini wax. I was going to also get my eyebrows done there, but after the debotchery of services for my bikini line, and legs I decided I needed to avoid that at all costs. I walked into the «salon» hoping for smooth legs that I don’t have to shave for a little bit, and I walked out with legs that felt like I haven’t shaved in 3 days. Nothing smooth about that. Not to mention, the method this lady used to remove the hair from my bikini line did not 1. Seem safe or 2. Seem hygienic. Also, she did not hardly speak English. I just ended up paying so that I could get out of there. Literally the worst place for beauty I can imagine. Avoid this place, whatever you, avoid it.

Okay, I love Ida’s work. So much so that I followed her to her second location in Olde Towne Alexandria. Opening a second location has not taken anything away from her skills in the services she provides. I go to her for all my waxing needs. No, I will not post any photos. Sorry folks, you just gotta take my word for it.
Her shop is clean and tidy. She is relatively punctual (short wait times) as she is a one woman show. Her personality is fun-​loving and jovial (which can be a relief when you are enduring the pain of having your pubic hairs ripped out by hot wax from the roots). She makes the pain of paying for torture a little less excruciating with her funny wit and knowledge of method. I’ll continue to visit her for all my waxing needs.

yalda salon is a great one stop shop for women wanting to do their hair, waxing and nails! I like Olivia because she was bubbly and she did a great job with my wax and nails. There’s a Mexican restaurant below them so you would have to enter at the side door. I got helped quickly and would definitely be back again! They also have a lot of deals which is a steal! I bought the sugar wax for 3 for 120 (which is like $ 40 each, normally, sugaring can range from $ 60-​$ 80 depending on where it’s at). Cash is better too! :) :)

I have to agree that this place is extremely unwelcoming and unprofessional.
I went for a Brazilian and a manicure. The manicure was $ 20+tip and the absolute worst «professional» manicure that I’ve ever received. I plan to remove the polish and redo it myself when I get home. The manicure was quick and sloppy, there was no running water or working bathroom (they said they are going to have it fixed…), the place was dirty, the heat wasn’t turned on and they didn’t have black nail polish. The Brazilian was fine, but they refused to take my Unilocal coupon. The ladies do not speak English very well or at all depending on who it is, and an older woman who clearly didn’t speak English loomed over and watched my manicure– it was as uncomfortable as it sounds. Overall never going back.

Well after the scheduling fiasco from hell (like literally i’ve never experienced such a hot mess) I was able to redeem my Groupon for a Sugar Brazilian Wax. After going to the other location and not receiving the service, I will saw I’m kind of glad it didn’t work out, because this specific location in Old Town is much more pleasant. When I walked in Tina was the receptionist as well as the one that provided my service.
Although the actual waxing room was kind of tiny, I never felt too cramped. This was my first time ever getting this kind of service, and she was very kind and walked be thru the whole ordeal. Never did I feel like I was annoying her with my constant wiggling nor a less important customer because I was using a Groupon. The service itself was very thorough and she would give me a break when she changed gloves and ask if I was doing alright.
At certain points when a lull would occur in the conversation, all I could hear was the faint buzz of a fan (thank goodness it was in there or else I would have melted!) and realized that there was nobody else there. That didn’t really bother me (although some background music would have maybe helped distract me from the initial pain!) for some it might be uncomfortable. Also when the waxing was complete she gave me a few tips on what I need to do to prevent ingrown hairs, etc., but I think it would have been nice to have some kind of do’s and don’t list to leave with.
I was ready to rip this place to shreds after my initial horrible customer service, but Tina constantly apologized for the mess and gave me a card for half off my next Brazilian. I think with the actual service being satisfactory (and for it being my first time she was very understanding of my nerves lol), I might be more willing to make the trek back out to Old Town for future waxing sessions.

I just moved to Virginia and needed to find a salon here. I really wanted to do a Groupon deal so between ratings on Unilocal and the right price on Groupon I chose this salon. Very happy with my choice.
Pros: located in old town alexandria it’s only 10 minutes from where I live. The salon itself is very nice. Nicely decorated. I was able to get an appointment for a Saturday when I called on a Thursday. Ida was my stylist. She talked me out of getting just a straight across haircut, which I am very happy she did. I showed her a picture of the highlights I wanted and she did a pretty good job of copying it, though I wish she had put a few more foils in. I have extremely curly frizzy hair and most stylists have a very hard time drying it ans straightening it as well as i do, but Ida did a great job! I also got a manicure from Lucy. She really took the time to clean up my cuticles and she did a fantastic paint job.
Cons: even though I had an appointment at 11 I had to wait 25 minutes because Ida ended up taking a walk — in before I got there. The bathroom was a little bit dirty, especially for a nice salon.
Pro and a con: Ida can really sell anything! I went in just for a haircut and ended up with a mani too. And from reading other reviews everyone walks in only wanting one service and leaving with multiple services.
Overall: I will be back! My hair looks fantastic and I’m happy I don’t have to look for another salon
