ZIPS Dry Cleaners

I remember this Zips Cleaners from years ago, so when I was in the area looking for a cleaners, my brother recommended this Zips. Although the prices had increased somewhat, it’s still economical. However, the service has changed from what I can remember.
Dropping off my clothes was relatively quick & painless, the staff was pleasant. I received an email when my clothes were available for pickup, which is an extra nice touch.
I always check my clothes for broken/​damaged buttons, stains, discoloration, etc when picking up, which I didn’t find. But when I got home and took the clothes out of the cleaners bag, here’s what I did notice…

— dry cleaned & laundry clothing was wrinkled & didn’t look professionally cleaned. My grandmother could do a better job!
Overall, I guess it’s true… you get what you pay for? So I guess I paid for «not-​so-​fresh wrinkles?» I won’t be dropping my clothes off here again… Zips has Zapped my pockets & business!

This is the worst Zips that I’ve been to in the DMV. I brought them a silk dress that I’ve had cleaned before before at both another Zips and a local Baltimore cleaners, and it always came out great. However, this Zips left it with huge spots all over the dress and with a tag saying «Wet cleaning recommended.» Um, no! This was a 100% silk dress with a tag that said «Dry clean only.» I took it to Gary’s cleaners in Old Town and thank God they fixed it.
I also had another off-​white shirt ruined here– it went in with no armpit stains, and some how came out with solid yellow arm pits. I’m never coming here again. I’ll pay more to have my clothes not ruined.

I read reviews of wrinkled clothes and botched work from here but that has not been my experience. A friendly, multi-​lingual staff got me in and out in no time when I dropped off 2 suit jackets. I received an email the next morning saying that the jackets were ready and I could come by and pick them up anytime.
When I picked them up it was fast and friendly. The lady that helped me was friendly and smiled, the process was fast, accurate, and cheaper than 2 other local cleaners I had used before.
It is 2 miles further for me to use Zip’s Cleaners– but I’ll make that drive from now on.

They don’t know to not hang sweaters on hangers from the shoulders as it makes an unsightly bump in the arm. This has happened to me on several occasions with this cleaners. Instead of contacting me or taking inventory of my garments to ensure they could cleaned they wait until I retrieve the garments to obtain my permission to clean them. I appreciate the extra precaution but it seems like a waste of time to wait for my return to receive my permission when they have my contact information. Bottom line if you are looking for an inexpensive dry cleaners and have little vested in your clothes this is the place.

They work fast, but half of your items are extremely wrinkled. I don’t know how much time Ive waisted on having to come back, after leaving them to fix a mess.

I love this cleaners!!! I just relocated to this area and find the location and promptness of the service to be so convenient. The quality of the service is comparable what you will receive at any other cleaners. However, what distinguishes Zips from others is the lost cost of 2.29 and $ 14 to dry clean comforters. I most like that no matter how pieces I turn in before 9, I can pick them up after 5 the same day. The lines and intake of your clothing go really quick. They accept plastic as well as there is an ATM inside the building. I love that you pay when you drop off so I never have to worry if I have enough cash when it is time to pickup.

This is a complaint. I have been taking my clothes to this particular location for years. Never had a problem until yesterday when I entered the establishment and one of the workers called someone to the front to assist me by using a word that in Spanish is translated to mean the N word to describe me. It threw me off and I can tell by the reaction of the other workers that they knew I picked up on what it meant. That same day (11/​11/​2015) I spoke with the manager and voiced my displeasure with what happened. He said he would get back to me today 11/​12/​2015. I have yet to receive a call back or response from him today. Today, 11/​12/​2015, I went to pick up clothes that I put in the cleaners during the incident on 11/​11/​2015. I should have never put my clothes in this cleaners but again, I was thrown off by the word I heard so I wasn’t thinking clearly. The young man who took my clothes asked me my NAME and not for the PHONE NUMBER they normally ask for. He knew who I was when I walked in the door. He then began to play with my last name which could have got him seriously hurt in my younger days. I quickly told him to get my clothes without hurling any insults or taking any action and asked for his manager. The manager who I spoke with the day before was not there but another lady was there and I told her that she needs to tell to her workers to watch what they say because black people… white people… Asian people etc… some of us know Spanish. I will no longer patronize this place and will file complaints wherever I can and take legal recourse as it is ridiculous that in 2015 I would walk into an establishment where I spend money every week and be treated to a nice dose of RACISM when spending my hard earned money… really lucky I am not young and dumb how I used to be.

I’ve only been here twice, had two wool coats cleaned here for $ 2.29 each (other places would have charged $ 19/​coat or more). It was hit and miss. One coat seemed clean and fresh after dry cleaning. The other coat was still very soiled after dry cleaning. Zips put a tag on it indicating that the coat needed to be «wet cleaned» and that Zips would wet clean it with my permission. The cashier never pointed it out and I didn’t notice it til I got home, but that’s ok. I didn’t bother to return to Zips, just washed it at home.
Even though Zips didn’t clean one coat, I wasn’t upset because it only cost $ 2.29. So overall, I’m content with my experiences here. You can’t beat the price for dry cleaning wool items. It seems to be a popular place too. The line was out the door when I went.

When I first started using the service here, my clothes were definitely on point, but lately the clothes have been ok. Not sure what happened. I haven’t given up on them completely, but I am trying other dry cleaners to compare price and quality

Zips. Zips. Zips. For those of you that aren’t familiar, Zips is a dry cleaning service provider that is known for inexpensive dry cleaning. Previously, most garments that l dry cleaned costs $ 1.99. It was part of their marketing scheme. As such, I drove about 30 mins because it’s en route to my job. HOWEVER, it’s now $ 2.29, a $ 0.30 increase… Sheesh! Although, it’s not an astronomical increase but increased prices should reflect increased quality of service. Apparently, they did not get that memo. Out of the 44 garments that I sent, I received a notification that they were unable to remove a stain on 16 garments. Clearly, if I am getting someone to professionally clean my garments, that’s what I want. I came home… Got some «Shout» (stain remover) and like magic… The stain disappeared. How was I able to remove the stain and they were not? I believed that they were supposed to be the professionals. While Zips is fast and cheap, remember you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

I’ve never had to wait more than 3 minutes in line, even when the line was all the way out the door. These guys are fast, and they mean business!

Clothes were still dirty and the manager refused to refund the charges. I do not recommend this business and will never take my clothes her again. Go to the cleaners beside Lee’s market if you want clean clothes! I’ll have to make the drive from now on.

This place was far away from my apartment. The price was not bad and they did really quick.

I’m dropping 2 stars per my previous review due to my recent experience with Zips. I dropped my clothes off at zips before 9am on Saturday morning and they were ready to be picked up after 5pm. They were to close at 7pm, due to unforseen circumstances i made it to Zips at 7:02pm. They literally must have just locked the door.
I needed my work clothes for monday morning, i apologized to the manager for being late and I understand they close at 7pm but she wouldn’t even look at me, i stood by the door hoping they would let me pick up my clothes but they ignored me as if i wasn’t even there. I was freaking 2 mins late… shit happens, instead of accommodating a customer they just ignored me, i see why this location has a 3 star overall rating… Zips just went from perfection of 5 stars to 3 stars… way to go Zips! Congrats!

I have another Zips location closer to where I live, however I started going to this location at the recommendation of my mother. I have only had the occasion to visit the store a handful of times over the past year but the staff have been consistently pleasant and seem to have a good relationship with their other customers.

I came here to get six dresses and my comforter dry cleaned. Two of my dresses end up being ok. One dress the zipper was broken. I had previously never had any problem with this dresses zipper. The other two dresses smelled and didn’t appeared to be cleaned. When I received my comforter back it was still wet. There were black spots all over it that I cannot get out. They also didn’t press the comforter so it’s all wrinkled now. I will not be coming back here EVER again. I was very disappointed with the service. I need to take everything to another dry cleaner to get fixed.

Great job cleaning and pressing my clothes, but bad service. I mean the kids working here are nice and all (I say kids because most of the staff can’t be much older than 21), but they lose things or put items on the wrong rack. This makes it hard to find your items. There have been several occasions where I’ve had to wait a long time for them to locate my stuff because they did not hang it up in the right place.

HORRIBLE customer service. The ladies that work there always seem to be in a bad mood.
Sure the price is good, and I guess for most that’s all that really matters.
I guess I’m one of those weirdos that still says, «good morning» «how are you.» and here’s a scandalous one … «THANKS.»

Prices are much better here than other spots in the area for just as good service. Always ready the next day as well. Keep in mind it is cash only but they aren’t lying about the 1.99 for all items.
