Ive been coming here for a very long time but somethings never change. Lines are always ridiculous and always takes a while to get other cashiers called up. Its like 40 customer per cashier and only one cashier. Also they dont seem to train the cashiers in being speedy. Most people i know that are in line always complain that they get rung up too slow. Most people just want in and out. I think this is the thing they need to improve on.
Other than that they keep most of the store clean and good variety of items. Although it would be nice if they sepearted stockers to one aisle each. Sometimes i have to barrel through them because they are too busy talking to eachother than stocking or leaving space for customers to get through.
Its kind of a hit and miss with this place. They have bad days and good days. More bad than good or maybe just my luck

located right on the edge of alhambra/​south pasadena border — plentiful parking, seemed to have lots of processed foods, some fruits and veggies in the back but not a very large selection of arts and crafts items, which is what i was on the hunt for. not very clean, phone sales folks that were hanging out outside

I love shopping here !! They get really good items for $ 1 or sometimes 2. The bad thing is that not everything is 99 cents anymore so check out the price first ! They usually have a sticker if the item is more then a dollar

Not as good as the 99 cent only store on Colorado in Pasadena. The refrigerator manages to be broken half the time. The place is not as cleanly and organized as the forementioned location, the registers are mostly closed with the exception of two and they need to check the quality of the vegetables more frequently. Bought an avocado that was weirdly ripened but unripened at the same time. The people who work at this location seem nicer than the ones at the colorado Blvd location though. I will give them that, so they are doing one thing right. Also, get some friggin bike racks out front! I believe the city will install them for free?

So I needed to pick up some ball pumps in a hurry after work. I called in to see if they had pumps in stock. I was placed on hold then transferred to Joseph who quickly pulled all the pumps off the floor. He offered of have them ready for me at the register (so not expecting that).
I walked in the store around 7:30ish and was distracted by all the new items they had and picked up a few. After walking the store for a few minutes I found Joseph and he rang me up in a jiffy. He was super friendly with a nice smile. Very impressed with his attention to customer satisfaction at his young age. The other employees were not as attentive and friendly so it’s 4****

As always, I bought a ton of junk that I didn’t need! And there were a bunch of food that were rejects from other stores or something, but I wanted to try them still. Of course, they tasted gross or weird lol
Overall, I liked this store. They had a bunch of things in stock. It was great. The stax chips were actually pretty good as well as some other chips. Not sure how it made it to this store though.

Why am I writing a review for the 99 cents store!!! IDK. This is my favorite location! There are so many good finds here. A lot of brand name store items can be found for only a dollar, I mean how much better does it get?!? You can get anything from office supplies to fresh fruit. On a good day, you could seriously score big hereee.
The store aisles are spacious enough so you’re not bumping into every other customer there. Also, I believe there’s like 7 aisles… Which means you can spend hours in there looking at all the products they carry. I docked a star cause on a busy day, the checkout lines can be crazy and they never open all the registers.

This is a weird 99. It always seems empty. Even when there are long lines there is something dead about this 99. This 99 feels spread out — less condensed with people and product. Nevertheless, this was the first 99 cent store i began shopping at. It must have left a lasting impression (or maybe im just poor) because i find myself shopping at these stores very frequently these days.
There is a sense of nostalgia i fet coming here. I remember coming here in the summer in high school looking for cool cheap crap. I even found a pair of gold boots here that i wore for a while that all my friends loved. I would get an ice cream then go sit and wait for the bus because i was too lazy to walk. This 99 gave me something to do when i was feeling antisocial.
Sometimes there is a tamale lady in the parking lot. Her chile and cheese ones are good.

I usually encounter friendly service when I am there, primarily at the checkout.
I am usually there because I am looking for something specific and I know where it is, or I am there to zone out and walk around. So usually, I don’t require any service when I am there.
The parking lot is a bit cramped to get in and out of but I never have never had a problem finding parking.

My Favorite Go To Store… amazing what little knick knacks I’ll find here.
Latest yummy food obssesion: Newtons Fruit This cookies — Banana and Dark Fudge flavor with a bottle of soy milk for my nighttime snack.
Also, great for Christmas decorations: Love the tinsel reindeers and tinsel penguins I found during Halloween and they ran out when Christmas started :(
Love this 99 Cents store — can’t wait to go back for my other goodies, lol.

I remember when this was a Ralphs, years back now it’s located in South Pasadena off huntington drive and atlantic blvd. Time flies by fast! My many shopping experiences here have been positive. No problems or mistakes seen throughout the store but the alternate change of employees come with a twist. One round of driven ones. Than another round of slousy, please smile employees (i.e. Celina) she needs to pace up some positive energy and be Capital S with a smile to greet customers walking in or checking out.geez.

Pretty good selection of stuff. They have recently changed the store layout so things are not where they used to be. Seems like more space and the registers are off to one side. You never know what you will find here and that is the thrill with stores like this. Very busy during peak hours. Staff is pretty nice too.

Before my wife told me about this place, I would’ve never considered shopping here. I thought they only carried cheap plastic items. But after shopping here a few times, I’m a believer — the store truly tries to deliver value to their customers. Not everything is the best deal, but if you shop wisely, you can get some great values.

They got bag of frozen chicken nuggets (12 pieces I think, I forgot) and sometimes on occasion frozen chicken fries that cook in the oven in 15 minutes and they’re so yummy. 2 liter bottles of Pepsi/​diet Pepsi are readily available each time I come here.
I always end up buying more than what I came here for because I walk around the aisle and always see something interesting and tell myself «why not, its only a buck.» and end up buying a squeeky chew toy for my dog. Or a potted plant to decorate the house. Or wrapping paper during christmas season.
I like coming here 1 or 2 times a month to stock up on ocean spray cranberry juice and pepsi.

Why even have a Blockbuster Express if it’s going to break down every other day! Such an inconvenience, I’m not going to go here again for DVDs. I’m going to the Blockbuster Express in Vons instead, there’s a wider selection with the added bonus of a non-​ghetto atmosphere.
I’ve gave you plenty of chances and you’ve let me down way too many times. Our relationship is over!
