This place is full of idiots. This place is literally a joke. It’s beyond me and quite frankly frightening that they are in the health care business. AVOID!
My father went in for a simple procedure. Checked in at 2pm. Due to «overbooking», I didn’t find out till later that they did not see him till 5pm. Great, let’s make an 75 year old man who is having some trouble wait in the lobby for 3 freaking hours. No phone call to postpone.
5:30pm rolls around, which is when he should have been released and discharged, then taken back home by a carrier/​taxi. That was the plan. Little did I know, he was probably just meeting with the doctor then. I called the front desk. They didn’t know S. They said he might be out in about 40 minutes. I asked then if he will need a family member to pick him up since carrier/​taxi service ended at 6pm. They said they will give the taxi a call and let me know if I need to come instead. Fine.
6:30pm. An hour has gone by. I have heard nothing. No phone call, no updates. Mind you, of course my father left my contact info with the doctor and hospital. So I call again, asking what’s the deal? Does he need a ride (since he’s clearly passed 6pm), should I come, is he out? None of which they could answer. Language barrier probably had something to do with it too, but they simply could not understand. How the hell do you run a hospital or a business with that kind of English and MISMANAGEMENT?! Talk about DISORGANIZE! They said they will call me in 15 minutes as they had still not heard from the taxi. At this point, my dad’s probably been waiting for at least an hour. Just waiting.
6:45pm. I called again. No phone call. By this time, I have had it. This dumb, idiotic hospital has been making my dad wait for over an hour, close to 2 hours with no perspective for a ride back home. I asked why I wasn’t called in the first place to come pick him up and they said they did not have my phone number!!! WHAT!!! My father clearly left all the contact info with them. What a bunch of freaking LIARS!!!
So, if I didn’t call and check up on him, they would’ve never called me (since they apparently didn’t have my number) and my father would have been waiting there for no one to pick him up. For hours and hours. Wow. I am dumbfounded by this hospital’s practices. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Sitting here waiting in the lobby for my father to finish his procedure. I agree with the reviewer below, regarding patient confidentiality. Especially in the healthcare industry, staff members need to be knowledgeable of HIPAA regulations and violations. The CNA or receptionist (s) speak to the patients in such a piercing loud voice. This is not to inform everyone in the lobby what’s going on! Come on, really?
I recommend whoever the manager or whoever oversee the receptionist to sit in the lobby for an hour or two and just observe. Whatever the peak hour is… And see how your staff handles working under pressure and the way the staff speaks with patients.
Now, I’m not saying every one of the receptionist is guilty of this. I’m just saying, there’s a few you can definitely tone down and can use more personable training– maybe?
Another thing, if you’re having your patients sign something, you must give them a copy too! Especially if you did not give them an opportunity to read what you «summarized» in one sentence… Just a food for thought, since I would like a copy of what my father signed just to read and go thru it all. Wouldn’t you?
This is just being here for an hour — I don’t know what their protocol is after the procedure but I’m sure it’ll be taken care of the right way. After all, they’re working in this industry for a reason right? There has to be passion in what they’re doing! Otherwise, it wouldn’t work out!

Came here for a simple surgery. Service seemed okay to me. I was really impress to overhear this nurse speaking to an elderly cantonese lady w alot of respect and care while preping her.

Well, years later (two weeks ago), I became a patient here. Seems like everything is better since I left the review in 2011. I was called after a short wait. The nurses were very nice. The facility is clean & well organized.
The only thing that really troubled me was that they have the same EKG machine that faulted me at another facility. It just hates me; but a skilled tech can tell my heart rhythm is fine. Like my cardiologist told me, I’m just a victim of technology. So the nurse sorted that out.
I was hoping for «totes» or a similar type of no-​fall socks. All they had were shoe covers, but I guess that’s at least something. They use regular white garbage bags for your belongings. These little cost-​savers are okay, but that’s why I left off a star. When you’re having a surgery, those little things make a difference – and not having them can up you’re anxiety.
Lastly, I got some general instructions upon departure. I only wish they had told me that I might bleed through the steri-​strips or that the stitches would dissolve. I didn’t find that until my post-​op. I can’t discern of that’s the center’s responsibility or the surgeon’s. My advice would be to ask lots of questions if you have them.
Overall, I now believe the center is pretty great & I would not hesitate to have another minor surgery there. Just remember that the entrance is the very first gate if you’re coming north on Garfield. If you pass it, you have to go all around the block. The entrance is near the end of the lot, and you should see double doors (there are also two convenient discharge spaces for when you finish surgery and are being picked up). Parking is okay, but arrive early in case the lot is on the full side.

Apart from having the most inattentive nurses in the world, estimating seems to be their weak suit. A 2.5 hour surgery that was simple ended up being a 5 hour wait time. Every 30 minutes we would ask for a update with a nurse stating that the doctors were almost done. They couldn’t state anything else about the situation because «the patient isn’t in the recovery room». Well no shit he’s not there, but where is he?
Update: the other nurses here are much more polite. The head nurse in the front should be out of a job because of her lack of interpersonal skills. She speaks down to all family members and cannot understand simple request in English. She cannot understand the idea that a family member would be concerned about a loved one in surgery. I also understand that nurses are busy, but in an empty waiting room with no patients FUCKEN LISTEN.

Unethical business practice. Charged my mom (even though she has insurance) prior. It’s been 4 months and we still have not received our reimbursement, even though they got paid from the insurance provider (got proof of that). After calling numerous time to follow-​up, one excuses after the other, we still have not received our reimbursement…
You have to get pre-​authorize for these visits from the insurance, so why are they trying to double dip the patient?
Stay clear of this place!

I have experience working in a healthcare environment, therefore I understand the importance of prioritizing patient concerns, having interpersonal skills, exercising professionalism and making sure everything runs smoothly and in a timely manner. During the entirety of my four hours in the waiting room, I did not witness any of the aforementioned.
A few of the staff behind the reception desk speak to patients in a piercing volume, loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear, which does not adhere to any form of patient sensitivity or confidentiality. When my father approached the front desk with a simple question regarding his paperwork, the staff member behind the desk asked him to sit down and wait, never once making eye contact. I believe said staff member was under the assumption that my father was going to complain about the wait, but even if he were to do so, anyone with an ounce of courtesy would attempt to provide a sense of ease to anxious patients who are awaiting procedures.
The staff at the discharge area were also lacking in some areas. Compared to the staff at reception, the discharge staff were slightly more concerned with my father’s well-​being. However, the staff member who was explaining the discharge paperwork to me was more concerned with having me sign paperwork (confirming she had explained every important detail to a responsible adult) and less concerned with answering my questions regarding the procedure, results and prevention methods.
Aside from my father’s successful procedure and their TV catching me up on current events, nothing positive occurred during this visit.

I came here after getting an infection from garden volunteering for the local elementary school. My primary doctor prescribed an antibiotic ointment that didn’t penetrate skin! So the knowledge of the Dr. heres is what allowed me to realized the difference between good and bad doctors.
Once at the surgery center, I was zipped in and out of the surgical rooms. PROPS for their speediness! I have was given local anesthetics so it was wonderful since I was even able to see the entire process and the doctors talked me through the entire process. After the surgery, I was able to go home and continue the rest of the day normally and now it seems as if i never had any surgery since there are absolutely NO scars! so five stars to their speediness, knowledge, and care to me!

I didn’t have as bad of an experience as other Unilocalers had it seems like. I honestly think it could have been better, but it wasn’t too bad. I came early for an appointment, and had the pre– op nurse talked to me about my situation. Based on what I heard, the pre op nurse seemed to have missed certain questions with me and remembered for someone else and vice versa. Well… if its as important as she said, why didn’t she asked me?
In & out of surgery room. I didn’t have anyone force me to wake up but I woke up on my own. Maybe they did, but I just didn’t know. I woke up and a nurse was next to me already with papers. Its ironic one of the papers said DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING IMPORTANT WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE OPERATION. BUT… they make me sign some waivers when I was still sedated. IRONIC. Is that some kind of scheme?
I think the nurses were okay and weren’t that mean as some people had said.

STRAIGHT TO THE POINT:
I brought my dad here last week for his exam. From the moment we checked in to the moment he was discharged, the service was terrible :(Many of what the other Unilocalers wrote about this place is true. The lack of professionalism and how they herd patients patients in and out is upsetting. If you have a choice, choose another surgical center. I do not recommend this surgical center to anyone.
DETAIL OF WHAT HAPPENED:
Check-​in: We arrive early. My dad had a question for the nurse/​receptionist in regards to his appointment and the woman refused to look at his paper work from the doctor’s and answer his question until he signed in. She didn’t even have the courtesy to make eye contact with him and just repeated «Sign in. Sign in» while talking on the phone.
Discharge: After receiving a phone call from the clinic stating that my dad was ready to be picked up, I entered the discharged area and was shown to a seat while I watch my dad who was still sedated. As I watched from a distance, the R.N. that was in charge of my father handled him pretty roughly and was raising her voice at him to wake up. So I approached my dad’s bedside and that’s when she was a bit shocked and asked if I was there for him, which I replied yes. She then place a stack of papers in front of me and said «Sign». I told her I was not going to sign anything until I have a chance to read the papers or she explained to me what I was signing. She then walked off and came back 5 minutes later to explain to me the paperwork. Afterwards she continued to try to wake my dad up, who anyone without a medical background can obviously see was still heavily sedated from the anesthetics. She wanted him to get up and get dress and leave. (They were trying to hurry people out of bed/​discharge since many they were rolling in patients out of the operating room was rolled into the discharge room into to be rolled out once again due to no beds.) In the end she forced my dad to get dress and out of the bed and sleep off the anesthesia on one of the couches.

Negative stars if possible. They are rude and they dont explain anything to the patients. After my mom was done with her procedure, the staff says dr. Dennis chen «explained» everything to her. When I asked her what he said, she said no one came in to talk to her. I asked the nurse and she got all defensive. Saying that my mom is forgetful. Ummm, maybe because she was highly sedated! We were then rushed out. This is how you tell someone they might have cancer? Worst doctor and health care center. Avoid avoid avoid!

This center deserved zero star. We were waiting for hours here. When I had asked them what is the earlier time I can come, they gave me 10:45 AM. I asked I can come earlier, they said no. Alright, I signed my name at 10:45 AM on the appointment day. Then, my mom and I were waiting for 2 hours to be called in to the pre-​op assessment. Even though they said the procedure would be finished before noon. What is noon? 3 PM is noon? Never come here if you have another choice. This is the worst center ever. The staffs didn’t know how to ran adiagnostic and surgical center. They should be smarter to serve and help the patients. How would this center be so clumsy?

I am so reluctant to even give this place one star, they don’t deserve any.
They simply are not professional.
I am not going to write a story book here; just want to wish whoever is coming to this place… GOOD LUCK!!!
