I hate this place !!! I only came here because boiling crab is always packed and every time i’m here, their service and food is SHITTY !! Their SLOW-ASS waitresses or whatever those girls are take their sweet little time to walk to you when you call them over –____-” plus they’re always standing around chit-chatting w/each other like are you serious? &why do you girls wear little high school clothes when you’re working in a restaurant??! Their sauce taste sweet and their seafood isn’t fresh whenever i come here. I really don’t know why this place doesn’t serve fresh sea food and why they’re serving expired sauce?! Why does their manager keep hiring little stupid slow high school girls ugh! –_-” i would honestly go to boiling crab and wait a few hours to get seated before ever coming to this shit hole again.

If you don’t want to wait 2+ hours for boiling crab at either locations in Alhambra, come here. Boat House is basically another version of Boiling Crab but with no wait time and they have plenty of parking spaces. Came here on two occasions, because BC’s wait time was too long. Both times I had a good experience. The workers were attentive and the food was good. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference with the flavor between BC and BH. I do have to say BH Cajun Fries is the only difference I can tell apart. They don’t have BC’s flavor and crunch. Other than that, everything else is the same based on flavor and price. I say you guys should give this place a try, and if you don’t like it, then go back to BC. At least you tried something new right? BTW: If there is no more parking in the back, you guys can park in that parking lot behind the hat. BEHIND(in that bank lot), not in The Hat parking.

Been here many times and the quality of the food and the flavoring is good. I’d say their quality is even better than boiling crab. Their shrimp is always plump and easy to peel. Their prices are also slightly higher than bc as well. So why only 3 stars? They rip you off with the weight of the food. Order 2 lbs of shrimp, and they’ll probably give you 1.25 lbs. maybe they charge by the weight of the bag(inclusive of the sauce and shrimp) and not for the shrimp itself. So when you consider the higher prices in addition to the less than advertised quantity, I guess the overall price is significantly higher than bc. On the bright ode there’s no wait.

I like Boat House, I actually prefer it to Boiling Crab. Usually we order shrimp, and while it is slightly pricier than Boiling Crab, the shrimp is a lot bigger, and in my opinion a lot more fresh than Boiling Crab. At the same time, there is no wait especially on off-peak hours(but the other time I came with my family, it was a Saturday night and we had to wait). The ambiance is lacking, the crowd is a lot older, but the taste of their food is so much better than Boiling Crab — and best of all, there’s no wait!

This place is very similar to boiling crab, except less wait. It is located near The Hat. Parking is minimal so go early. The shrimps and clams are very delicious. Shall come back when I get a chance or when I have the time. Service is pretty good. Not as crowded as Boiling Crab and not as loud. Great place. Go try it.

Delicious! Shrimp, and mussels, Cajun and house sauce with Frieda mushrooms and corn nuggets. Highly recommend the corn nuggets! 2 corn on the cob and 2 Sapporo beers = $ 55 No line like boiling Crab and service was quick and friendly. Will return!

4.5 stars. My go to place when I want Cajun seafood and do not want to wait 2 hours at Boiling Crab. I usually order the shrimp in cajun, house special, and garlic butter sauce. My personal favorites are house special and garlic butter. Minimum order per flavor is a 1lb. Fries are really good too, I get it with the cajun seasoning(no extra charge). Very flavorful but not to overly salty. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for a side of lemon and pepper if that’s your thing! I will have to say I don’t really like that their garlic is a pureed texture; I prefer the garlic to be diced. Plus, you can never go wrong with more garlic. I’ve never had to wait when I come. Service is always great and fast. Price for shrimp is around $ 11/lb which is pricier than BC. There isn’t much space for parking in the front, but you can most definitely park on the side streets. If you know you’re going to be eating a lot, you can park a little further to walk off your food coma after your meal.

This place is a JOKE!!! Food sucks, service sucks, everything sucks there. Their«Cajun fries» are regular fries, with red seasoning on top. I could’ve gotten fries from McD’s for cheaper and better taste. The shrimps I ordered were overly battered. I had to pick off the breading just to eat them. Also, my $ 3 Coke was flat and nasty. On top of all of that they’re freaking EXPENSIVE! You’re better off saving your time and money for THEBOILINGCRAB. IMO

Reading some reviews about them ripping people off I was hesitant to go here, but long story short yes they do serve you less than expected. Food is great, but never will I support a business that is unethical like this. Just go to boiling crab.

Definitely an option to choose if you do not want to wait two hours for boiling crab. There was no wait on a Saturday night at 8pm. Our food came out quickly and was just as delicious as boiling crab. The shrimps here are very large! The sauce was pretty good, but doesn’t beat boiling crab’s sauce. I have not found a place where the sauce is better. You have to request salt, pepper, and lime. I gave one less star because the bathrooms are DISGUSTING. The doors and broken. The floor is sticky. The stink is clogged and leaking. Do not use their restroom!

Lunch on Sunday, 10÷18÷15 This place is the closest version of Boiling Crab compared to other similar restaurants. It’s so nice that we never had to wait for a table. The staff members are friendly and attentive as well. Parking is small though so you may have to find parking on the street. The ambiance and décor are very similar to Boiling Crab with more pirate decorations. Perhaps because it is getting closer to Halloween? I’ve tried the calamari. It’s lightly fried so it’s crispy and delicious. I usually order the shrimp and corn. I’m not a fan of crawfish. Lobster, crab, and clams are also not something I would order and have cajun style. The spicy level was perfect! I enjoy cajun style foods spicy and medium level does just that. Never thought about having fried mushrooms but it was quite good. They’re button mushrooms deep fried served with ranch dressing. I also liked their sweet potato fries. Fountain drinks are refillable so quench your thirst. I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends if you want to have Boiling Crab without the wait.

WARNING: This place cheats their customers! Stay AWAY! I used to frequent this place in 2012 – 2013, a lot of my friends wrote great reviews in the past. I used to have real pleasant experiences here, till today. My friends and I track our diets and need to weigh our food so we had a scale handy. My friend ordered a dungeness crab, he was told it would be roughly around 2.7 lbs. It only weighed in at 1lb, we were confused so we triple checked to make sure we weren’t making a mistake and sure enough, it was still only 1lb. All we wanted to do was let them know they made a mistake so they can correct it by either charging him for 1lb or bringing out a crab that weighs 2.7lbs The server(who was a sweet girl) said she couldn’t really do anything because the kitchen said it was 2.7lbs… So we asked for the manager. The manager(owner?) immediately came out extremely defensive as if he’s dealt with this before and with his irrational panicked response I began thinking we just caught him cheating his customers and it wasn’t just a simple mistake. He refused to bring the crab back out or discuss about the issue. He said all the crabs are 2.7lbs and there is no such thing as a crab that weighs 1lb… I asked him to just bring out the crab so we can show him with our scale and he refused and also insisted that our scale was rigged… This really made me think he was a con after he handled the situation in this manner. This business is purposely serving way less than as advertised. Very unethical and poor customer service. This issue is really petty, none of us are penny pinchers and can afford the rip off but I think this business is extremely unethical and I just despise. I rarely leave comments but what happened to us tonight should never happen to anyone. I should’ve read the reviews before coming here. Someone else caught them cheating. Be-careful everyone!

I really like this place. I like how they have a parking lot, although its small. I like that there is usually no wait, esp compared to their competitor down the street. I like how they seem overstaffed and provides great service. I love how clean and spacious the place is. I’m always bringing my friends here when they suggest to go to boiling crab. Cons: –their«everything» house special sauce isn’t as thick with ingredients as their competitor. It feels like the shrimp/seafood is just sitting on a bed of oil and small cuts of garlic. –their fried oysters are sometimes overfried. It feels like i’m eating a jalapeño popper instead of oysters. –fries are inconsistent and lack the«cajun» taste Despite their fixable cons, this is my to-go place for cajun seafood– IF I know there’s going to be a long wait at their biggest competitor’s location.

Originally wanted Boiling Crab but waaaay to long of a wait so finally tried this spot. THEYHAVEGLOVES! Even so, still got my hands dirty since the gloves were super thing but still better than nothing. This place’s concept is exactly like boiling crab. I ordered a pound of shrimp(I wish they they had a 1/5lb option), lobster tail(whaaat?! I know right), and wings! Everything was great and the lobster tail was super cheap and pretty good! Wings were good also but not as great as boiling crab! Staff was attentive and friendly. No wait time, it was pretty empty when I came in.

After moving back to LA after a brief stint in the OC, we missed our place that we used to go to in Garden Grove which was better than Boiling Crab and had great priced combos. While this place does not have combos, the food is nonetheless great. For under $ 35 my wife and I shared a pound of shrimp, a pound of clams, 2 things of rice(what’s a meal without rice, amiright?), 5 pieces of potatos(we had so much food, so we won’t be getting the potatoes next time), and 2 pieces of corn on the cob, and all flavor with their house special sauce at a medium(it has a nice kick). They have a very small parking lot with small parking spaces. If you get it to-go(which we do because we like tearing into the food in the comfort of our own home so as to not publicly embarass ourselves), don’t forget to ask for the wax paper to go onto your table.

I would definitely skip out on this place unless Boiling Crab has a 2 hour wait down the street — which is why I ended up coming here with a friend on a busy friday evening. Their fries are not cajun fries — they are just McDonald’s fries with some scattered seasoning… Not appetizing because one bite you’ll get all the spice, and another bite you are eating a plain fry. Their shrimp was pretty standard — I got the house seasoning, mild. It was good enough to satisfy the shrimp craving — but it wasn’t finger lickin’ amazing. The good thing about this place is that there isn’t a wait, and they are really quick to bring out your food. They aren’t stingy with the lemons, and they have good service.

This place has been around before the over hyped boiling crab and other shrimp places. The good thing about this place is how the shrimps are cooked at and the sizes of the shrimps are huge compared to boiling crab. I love their shrimp here. It’s pretty tender and not too dry from being over cooked. The sauces are on point as well. Also my family and I ordered rice on the side as well since we’re asian and need rice when we eat lol. Also tried their Cajun fries. I think their cajun fries are weird, it’s just fries sprinkled with some seasoning… and it’s pretty spicy too. The restaurant itself is pretty small though. Fits about 100 ppl which has about 14 – 16 tables in the whole place. Parking also sucks. Well it’s in alhambra so what can you expect. It’s right next to «the hat» PS don’t think about parking at the hat even though the posted time to park there is 30mins. There’s a rent a cop walking around the parking lot of the hat interrogating people that park there. Overall. I would definitely recommend this place.

Overall, I’d give boat house a 3.5! My family and i were in town for my sister’s birthday and needed a place that could accommodate 15 of us. After Unilocaling something similar to & near the Alhambra Boiling Crab, we found boat house! If you’ve had the Boiling Crab experience, Boat House is exactly the same. So here’s the lowdown: FOOD: Oysters: We got 3 dozen raw oysters to share and they were small, but really fresh. Came with your typical accompaniment of tobasco, lemon, horseradish Sweet potato fries, cajun fries. pretty standard nothing special Seafood: shrimp, crab, crawfish I specifically got 1lb of shrimp, combo sauce, spicy, 1 corn on the cob, rice and potato. This is my usual order at boiling crab too. They give you a good portion of rice, that covers one full plate. Some of my family got really good batches of shrimp that were really good. Mine was good, but you can tell the shrimp was overcooked because it was really hard to peel(and that’s never good when you’re hoongry as hell). As for the sauce, the essence of Boiling Crab is there but not quite. Boat House’s sauce is a wee bit thicker and has more vinegar in it. But, if you’re not trying to wait in the 2hr line for Boiling Crab, it’s still a good option for a beautiful mess of a dinner. Service was great, all the girls were really attentive and had no problems refilling our waters & bringing us more beer. The owner recommended a bottle of cabernet for us that my family loved so much, he gave us the rest of the 2nd bottle to take home. Score! Till next time, .REPEAT
