The reason for my 3 stars is because they always start their classes late… Almost every time. During class time, the girls from the other classes would walk in and out and ask if their outfit is okay. The instructor would stop and help the girls. Which takes away from class time.
During the holidays is the worse. You pay for sessions at the beginning of the month. Which is about 4 sessions each month. During the months of November through January. You will only get 3 class sessions each month because there is no class during the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Which means the studio should allow for the students to make up those class sessions since parents have already paid for it… But no. Instructors are nice. However, I wished classes were a bit more structured and organized.

Good stuff, really liked the teacher. Great overview, now I want to try more.
The only problem was they didn’t really have changing rooms, but that’s not much of a problem.

Still the worst place ever. Tu is the manager, I tell You she got issues!

Jayvee Dance Center, I’ve been in & out of this studio for the past 9 & ½ years. I started off at JV with Joanna Vargas, she was one of my first teachers. All of the instructor were amazing, still to this day they have amazing instructors some better than others, I say that just because I had a bad experience with one of the hip hop instructors. Other than that JV is a great studio to get your feet wet with. They introduce you to both the hip hop dance community & the professional dance world. I’ve made so many connection in the dance world because of this studio! I’m very appreciative to have met everyone who has walked in & out of these doors! I’m proud to call this studio my home. This studio is great for kid & adults. Keep it up JV!

This review is for Jayvee dance studio Marc’s adult hip hop class on Monday nights. Marc is an awesome instructor. He teaches classes with passion and still has patient with students who may still at beginner level. Each week he brings a different combo and teaches us through it until everybody gets it done. He encourages students to go big without worrying about doing things wrong. I take his class for fun, workout, flexibility and musicality and I have no plan to be a dancer. I reach my goal every single time at Marc’s class. All the students in his class are fun and respectful as well. Very good vibe over all.
One huge surprise at his class today while I was wearing a heart rate monitor first time there: I burnt 681 calories in 1 hr. I know I always go full out on anything I do. But put this in perspective since I am a data junkie, a full out 55 mins kickboxing class burns 670 calories and a 45 mins insanity class burns 642 calories with same kind of intensity from me. What a fun way to workout it is! I know everybody has different intensity at class but the data shows it can be a very effective workout for everybody by just having fun. Ima putting some pix along with this review!
I highly recommend anybody to this studio and to Marc’s class if you are an adult. You will learn something new while working out without noticing it!

This review is only for the Tues/​Thurs Zumba class by Clarissa. I have done Zumba at multiple gyms/​dance studios over the past 4 years. Clarissa’s class is the best. Here is why:
Energy level: very high! She is very energetic and really works us hard! I mean like really hard, sweat all over guaranteed. So bring enough water if you want to drop by!
Music: great! I can tell some songs are classic/​popular Zumba songs as they were also used at previous locations that I went to. But she also adds popular new songs and the choreography is always great.
Choreography: fun and sexy! I would say her class makes me dance more than other Zumba classes I went to. This is what I like most about her class.
The crowd: the class can get crowded from time to time, but everyone sure has enough space to have a full workout. Comparing with the CROWDEDNESS in Zumba class at 24 hour fitness for which you have to wait in line 30 min ahead of time to get an admissions number, this place is heaven!
Facilities: not the best. The class is offered in two of the three rooms, depending on the number of people attending. Both rooms have shown clear sign of age.
My only complaint is about the class before Zumba, which rarely ends on time. I don’t know if it’s because that class never starts on time or because the instructor enjoys her class too much to notice the clock ticking. Jayvee staff, if you happen to read this review, please ask the class instructor before the Zumba class to end her class on time.

I believe everyone see this place from Main street will think they only have this one dance studio and that’s it. I’m surprised the actual entrance is in the back with parking lot and 2 or 3 more studios.
I think this is a great place for Hip Hop dancers to take classes especially if they don’t wanna drive all the way to NoHo. And they have Boogiezone every monday 8:30pm — 10pm which is only $ 10.
I saw all well known places like IDA Hollywood, Debbie Reynolds, Millenium etc. raised their prices. $ 10 for Boogiezone is worth it depends on who teaches.

Amended: first year 2015 with Jayvee and I’m completely disappointed. Attended the first recital to see what my daughter learned and all I saw her do was twirling and jumping around; and only in 1skit in the beginning. What did she learned in Jayvee? «Nothing»
I’m sure you can learn something unless you’re part of the clique. During the recital, I saw the same kids performing multiple skits throughout the 5 hours. I felt it was a waste of time and money throughout. Don’t waste your time and money. Pay a little more and go to a better dance studio. I won’t be sending my daughter here ever. Would not recommend it.
Oh my Gosh! What a gem! This studio I will have to say is top notch. Being formerly taught tap dancing my Ray Limon; a former student teacher in UCR, and of course the usual street dancer back in the days, this place has everything. Not too many dance studios in San Gabriel valley offer courses for the youths.
The staff is incredible! Very helpful and courteous. The person to see is Amanda. She gives the best and makes you feel you’re well taken care of.
They let you know of all the deals to help you out whether you need it or not. Go check them out! Truly recommended.

My friend got a groupon for a 6 week pole dance class and even though I am only on class #2, I already love it!
First of all, the instructor Claudia is THE best. She is hilarious and easy going. She has a very inviting and relaxed energy which makes class super comfortable and fun. She is great at going over each move and makes sure to answer any questions and clear up any confusion.
Second, pole is so fun and such a great workout! My core is my weakest part of my body. Arms are solid, core not so much. Pole is a great way to strengthen your core… and is a lot more fun than doing sit-​ups or my enemy… planks.
*TIP* you warm up with some floor work so bring your own yoga mat so you don’t have to use the community ones.
There is plenty of parking, the rest of the staff is friendly, just a great studio all around. I’ve only had a pleasant experience here so far.
Have already told friends about the class. I definitely recommend it!

I signed my daughter for ballet classes since she loves dancing. I was a little disappointed when there was hardly any music played in the classes and in my opinion the classes were too rigid for 3 years old. Well at least for my daughter. There were other families there that seamed to like it but it didn’t work for us.

About the studio, I give 5 stars. nice and big dance rooms. amazing teachers. I had Zumba and street ease classes there for more than four months. Our teacher Joanna is sexy and professional. I registered four classes per week at first, but I was so busy to finish them all. Then I missed many classes, so I changed my schedule to two classes per week. I was supposed to be able do the make ups as the agreement says. But they failed my request and still charged me four classes per week, I could not attend 4 classes per week and then I have even more missed classes. I can accept it if they can let me do make ups later. but the front desk Amanda asked me to finish all the make ups in one session. after that session, all my make ups would
that time, I had 9 miss
could I finish them all while I already have two classes per week? The way she speak was not nice at all. She said, we will not let you take more classes than your make ups. I was mad. sounded like I wanna take advantage of them. oh, man! I just wanna get what I deserve and What I paid for! I did not finish my make ups and canceled all my classes. I really did not wanna deal with her. I ended angry here.

I’ve taken 6 Pole Dancing classes and they are such a great workout. It’s NOT easy. Though I am so tiny, I felt so heavy after class, lol. I was at first intimidated but Laura is amazing! I like how she teaches the entire class and then walks around to individually correct each student so you get a little personal attention. Laura taught us basic spins, tricks, hanging and sexy moves. She makes sure everyone in the class learns. If there’s a move I can’t do physically, she teaches me an easier alternative instead, so I am not left out. She also compliments us when we do a good job. ;) Always supporting and encouraging! One tip, if you want to learn all the basic tricks, you have to complete all 6 classes. Also, this class fills up fast, so make sure to sign up in advance and please make sure to take yourself off the list if you can’t make to the class, so other students on the wait list can get in!
This studio made me feel comfortable and confident about my body just as what Laura told us on the first day– that at the end of our class we will learn to love ourselves more ^_^.

This is a well-​oiled operation. I’d give it 5 stars if the studio was in slightly newer condition.
I can only speak on kids’ dance classes. My daughter currently takes Jazz I and she is always looking forward to her Saturday classes with Miss Kaitlyn. There’s also a young ballet instructor that’s charismatic and is always around. She is definitely not the typical angry disciplinarian that you see at other places. Kids love her and so do the parents.
This place also offers Zumba (very popular on Saturday mornings), ballet (all levels), hip-​hop, and pole dancing (I’d love to see this one).
Overall, I’m a picky person when it comes to my kids’ learning and I have no complaints at all about this place. The atmosphere is friendly and tuition is very affordable. I can’t ask for more.

Very disappointed.
1. I signed up for the contemporary class last year. The class I signed up for was fine, but the room was too small and when the regular instructor couldn’t make it, we weren’t informed until we showed up. Or we were given inexperienced subs or combined with a different class nowhere near the style or level of difficulty I had paid for. Total waste of money and time. If classes are cancelled, they say you can make them up, but (again) no similar classes to substitute.
2. The contemporary class was discontinued in summer and replaced with a class that requires you take and pay for another class. Wasn’t really interested in the other class so I stopped. Since the class I signed up for was discontinued, it would stand to reason that I wouldn’t have to pay for it anymore, right? Well apparently not, I still got charged for the next quarter. They do say in the fine print that cancellations need to be done in writing, so partially my fault… but keep reading. After the class was discontinued, I saw an email saying I would be charged soon and went in to try and fix it. They apologized and said I wouldn’t be charged and that the issue was resolved. I was charged anyways… and again the following quarter. That is now $ 310! I emailed them and was told I’d have to pay a $ 35 refund fee for their mistake and was reassured that it wouldn’t happen again. I was charged another 2 times. After a year of extra charges and $ 620 later, I was eventually refunded for everything except the $ 35 fee.
3. In general, if you are just looking for an interactive class to stay in shape, some of the other classes are probably just fine. But if you want to improve as a technical dancer, this probably isn’t the place for you. They are much more focused on hip-​hop and zumba.

I bought a living social voucher for this place and tried to use it. I went to a class (which was listed on their website) and it was cancelled. I found out when I got there, but I called earlier and no one picked up so I left a message. No one called me back so I just figured the class was running.
Rarely does someone pick up the phone at this place. And they have a receptionist to do exactly this! What poor business practices. And thank you I lost $ 30 on that voucher to you because you can’t make good on your deals. After this whole incident I tried to get them to unmark the voucher (as used), but I never heard back from them.

Jayvee responded with a positive response to fix the pricing, With the willingness to fix the pricing, I am revising it to a 5 star. Thank you for listening to your customers Jayvee!

I thought I’d update since my daughter and I have changed activities here.
I no longer take pole… not because I don’t want to, but because my schedule no longer permits me to. Bummer!
I take Zumba there on Saturdays and Wednesdays (Wed. classes is only during the summer.) It’s a great hour of cardio and since it is fun you hardly know that you are exercising. The instructor for those days is Genevieve. She is really fun, easy to follow and very nice.
My daughter now takes hip hop. She loves it and she is really enjoying her instructor Ralph. He’s a great teacher and breaks down routines so our little ones can pick up.
Staff there has generally been pleasant and helpful to me.
My only gripe is the rare run-​ins with rude teenage patrons who are obnoxious. Which I can’t hold against the establishment for.

Amazing! Came here for the groupon pole dancing… Claudia is AMAZING! Funny, witty, and drop-​your-​jaw OH EM GEE SEXY! She knows how to work it, and she knows how to teach YOU to work it too! If I wasn’t too busy shrieking and wobbling around like a hippo trying to do ballet, I’d just stare, drool, and stare some more. Anyway, wonderful class, casual atmosphere. I’ll be coming back FOR SURE! Already got my appointment set up!

This review is for the Zumba class on Saturdays with Alfredo! I took the free class today and got a real good workout out of it. I love his energy and encouragement since it kept me going through the whole class. The routines consist of intense cardio and man does it work out your whole body! I don’t think I have ever sweated so much in any other Zumba class I have taken before. I think this class will not only save you the time (only a one hour class) but also the tedious task of working out on your own. I know from personal experience that it is the easier for me to workout with group so this may be a good alternative for those who despise the idea of working out. He’s definitely the man when it comes to Zumba and he may just be the solution to helping me attain my weight loss goal at the end of this year!

I go here for Pole Fitness (aka Pole Dancing class). It’s really well done and I love my teacher, Claudia. Check their website for more information. It’s more casual and done at a personalized pace compared to other places I’ve been to (BeSpun/​SFactor). This seems to be the only class in the SGV and thank goodness it’s good! Classes are kept small.
It’s basically broken down to Pole 1 and Pole 2 in 6 week sessions. Pole 1 is all types of intro moves and basic setup. Pole 2 is more about inverted moves and progressively gets more advanced/​doing on top of the pole tricks– all based on your own level of what you can practice. Each class has 2 poles and is limited to a certain # of students.
It doesn’t really matter too much when you drop in if it’s within the first 3 wks so start asap! You can always catch up. You have to pay for the entire session but they’ll prorate it if you start in the middle.
It’s $ 25 only for the first class to try. You cannot pay by class, I go once a week and I love their hours (week nights, so I go right after work). They will probably add more hours if more ppl sign up. You can retake each Pole level over as many times as you want to learn the moves. They will help you review or strengthen what you learn.
Class is basically broken down to:
— Conditioning, HURTS and is hardcore pilates like exercises
— Learn some moves, practice them
— Choreography, put together/​apply what you’ve learned with an element of dance
At the end of the 6 weeks, you pick a song that you can freely dance to however you want, applying as many tricks as you want but it’s more about dancing.
Although you build a lot of core and upper body strength here, Pole also teaches about manipulating momentum, physics, and elements of «falling onto the pole» to create spinning. Some ppl are better at some things than others so it’s easier for them to get from spinning to climbing. You also start to get more flexible. I came in with no gymnastics and dance background so it takes me longer to get things, but it’s more rewarding when I do!
As every week goes by you realize you can do some things better than others, and you also open up to dance or making your moves POP and flow rather than being awkward.
The only real con I can see for people is that this is kind of an old dance studio and does not have the flare of some other pole dance only places. Some times you might hear the bumpin music from the hip hop class next door, but it doesn’t bother me. The casualness is actually what I’m looking for. If you are a hardcore pole competitor, this is probably not the place for you. At least with me as your classmate who is slowly but surely trying to get the basic spin down bc I keep forgetting: P It’s easier to overcome all the intimidations that come with pole in this class’s atmosphere.
You have to wear short sleeves/​tanks and short shorts if not just flat out underwear/​booty shorts. This is actually necessary and dangerous if you don’t because clothing on pole slips! Also there’s no point in doing a lot of pole if no one can see your muscles :)
The other classes at this dance studio look great too. It seems to be a really great place for the community to gather, at all ages, to dance! At reasonable prices.

I had my little 3 yrs old girl tried both their ballet/​tap & hip hop. With all the effort & hassle getting her ready for class and get to class (we even have to buy full uniform and it all seemed serious in the beginning) We end up having «baby» instructors teaching the class.
Both classes are taught by teenage instructors who have no experience, no flexibility, no preparation, they just repeat the same drills over and over every class. The kids lost interest, running around, the teacher don’t know what to do… and time is up. I paid for the full scission (3 mo), but only went for 3 weeks. Rather waste the money than waste more time. Also what a waste of uniform (there goes another hundred bucks)
Wish the studio can appreciate the effort and input of parents who take their kids here to learn and try manage the classes more seriously. Not anyone can teach!!!
