Terrible place! I came in to try walnut shrimp and asked if I can substitute my rice with steamed veggies or anything like that, and I said that I’m willing to pay extra(which normally you don’t even need to pay extra). She said that I can’t do that because walnut shrimp comes with rice. After trying to explain her that I don’t need rice at all she said she can add veggies as a side order and that totaled up to $ 20 per meal which you normally would pay at the good restaurant but not I this dirty hole in a wall! Also you can pay cash only! Would not recommend to anyone!

Honestly I must have driven by this place a million times and never noticed it before. Found it thanks to Unilocal the other day and thought I would give it a try. When you walk up to the door it actually looks like it’s closed. Even when you walk in the place looks kind of abandoned. But don’t let this fool you, they make great food! I ordered the Kung pao chicken and the chicken noodle soup to go. It took about twenty minutes to cook. First place I have ordered Kung pao chicken and it was actually was spicy! Most places have the little chili sign next to the name, and have those red chilies in the food, but it is never spicy! This place knows how to make it right. The chicken was spicy and flavorful. Had a lot of celery and peanuts in it which was great! The noodle soup was light and tasty. Perfect on a cold November night. Cash only but there are plenty of banks nearby. Or you can always get cash back from 7 – 11.

– Cash Only – Try the Gourmet Wonton Soup if you have a cold(or hangover), very good! They do call ins/take out too but give it a little extra time. Overall good Chinese food. I think we can all agree the place needs some remodelling but it’s apparent they could care less about that. Time will tell now that a new owner runs the place. I have my doubts but hope I’m wrong.

First time going and we loved it I say we I mean myself and my 2 year old. The guys there were great and polite even in dealing with a super strange customer that kept making odd requests. The fish and chips are delicious & my daughter loved the noodles and tempura green beans. We will definitely be going back!

My family has been coming here for about 15 years. I think the owner either retired or passed away but if he passed away he is turning over in his grave. I picked up 2 orders of their orange chicken lunch special. The chicken was double fried which made the chicken hard and dry. The egg roll sucks now. they make it so small the wonton wrapper is raw. I called today to complain and the jerk on the phone said«Thanks for the feedback». I have no idea what’s happening with this place not even the cooks are the same people. It’s a shame that the owner worked so hard to let a bunch of assholes ruin it for him.

Everything made here is delish. All the food is made to order. I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl. I’ve never been disappointed.

I’ve been coming here for years. Not much ambience but the food is delicious. The special soft noodle soup is excellent. Their lunch specials are also very good. A very nice couple has taken over management and do a great job!

So we’re taking it to go. They close at 8 and its 7:36… I’d rather take it home. The place is a hole in the wall type place and not a cozy place but I have hopes the fish will be swell… Give me a minute, I’ll be back with the review that really matters in after a few bites. They gave us a couple of small ramekins of malt vinegar but we opted for a larger size tartar sauce and its 20cents less than asking for 4 tiny ones… Now the taste… I took the first bite pure, without the malt vinegar… Nor their Tartar. It was very crispy and the batter so far, reminder me of pioneer chicken. It pretty much sucks. I used all the vinegar and the Tartar sauce was gross mayonnaise with a few pickle bits. The chips are crinkle cut fries… not your average pub fresh made chips. But, hey… I was hoping for a gem. It’s like bowling alley fish and chips. Personally not a fan of their fried shrimp. That seems to have a different batter on it… possibly frozen from a bag. Sometimes the holes in the wall are a hidden gem and sometimes it’s just a bummer. We were hungry and obviously a little adventurous. But. Never again. I’m sad to say it. I rarely give negative reviews but the best part was the malt vinegar.

Great food but they suck at getting it to you in a timely manner… When they say 15 mins it’s more like 30 mins just FYI.

Had 2 fish with shrimp and chips. Too much batter. Took it to go. Need salt and I usually don’t like salt :(If the parking were not so bad, I would go back and get some. Kinda tasteless… Jordan who takes the orders is friendly, quick and efficient. Suprised to have a well spoken blond, tall, american guy take your order in a chinese hole in the wall. While I was sitting waiting for my food, 2 Chinese workers came out to comment on how he was doing things… i.e. wiping the tables etc. Seemed fine to me. Soon as someone needed anything, he would stop what he was doing and take care of the customer. They seemed nitpicky. He should go to work at acrombie. they would treat him nicer.

Small place but it’s been around at least 10 years. My favorite dish is the combination stir fry noodles ^________^

A nice resto with very affordable prices. Friendly staffs. Fast serving. Not too crowded, so it is so nice to dine in with friends.

Their fish and chips are pretty good. The fish pieces are big and thick. You really get your money’s worth. I also love their gourmet wonton soup. It has a lot of veggies in it.

Went here before and the food was just ok. Kinda thought the portion was small but last night it was a very close place to go so we went… The guy at the counter couldn’t really understand what we wanted so he got one of the cooks out of the back and after explaining to him what we wanted, we agreed on a price and sat down to wait. We saw people come and go. More people come and go. After 25 minutes we asked the boy behind the counter and he said its first come first serve. Trying to be kind, we said we have seen people and go that were long after us. He said it should be soon. We sit down and as we do, there’s a real picky woman that comes in and tells the boy behind the counter what she wants. Again, he pulls out the cook and they agree on what and how much. I hear him say«it will be 15 mins» and of course me being me I say«dooont U believe it. We’ve been here waiting 30 minutes for one plate» and another customer that was there goes«U’ve been here 30 mins???» Of course the boy goes«what did u guys order again» and Jean tells him, he goes in the back and then comes back only to pick up a bucket off the floor and starts looking thru the tickets in it. Guess what, he goes out ticket and is like«oh I think it got lost in the shuffle» At this point we were like«oh hell no, just give us our money back» which he put up a little argument about how fast it will be lag blah blah, but we got our money back as left. The location pin on Unilocal is off, I reported the correct location and hopefully they’ll update it, the address is correct. It doesn’t look like much but the Fish & Chips was a good choice. The fish is crispy yet still moist. Good tartar sauce and since it’s also a Chinese food restaurant I got to try soy sauce with the fish & chips & I like it. Next time I’m in the area I plan to try some of the Chinese food. They would earn another star if they had done a better job keeping the tables clean while dealing with carry-out and maybe any kind of ambiance.

Think of the soup nazi on Seinfeld and then look at the guy behind the counter, he really is like the Chinese fish ‘n chip nazi… The fish ‘n chips are lightly battered and served up hot . The jumbo shrimp are end-to-end to form a ring, so in reality you’re getting 4 shrimp. The chips are crispy and hot. Honestly, not too bad of a fry job at all. Condiments include a little tartar and a little chili cocktail sauce, both of which were on the mild weaker side. I also got a chilled bottle of ketchup which I found surprisingly good when served cold… There is no ambiance to speak of unless you’re impressed by dropped ceilings and exposed fluorescent work lights, most of one wall is taken up by the Chinese menu items anyway which seemed to be popular as I noticed people were coming in and ordering… The Unilocal map directions are slightly askew, this place is located in the mini mall located on the NW corner of Marengo and Main where the 7-Eleven and Subway are . My expectations going in were guarded to begin with so all that nazi stuff I’m ok with. It’s mom & pop, cheap HITW food is what people are coming here for…

Came for the fish & chips with my friend. Got Combos 2&3 and they tasted really good… hot and crispy. Quick note: Combo 3 has noticeably more food compared to Combo 2. Combo 2 comes with a couple tiny fried pieces of scallop and one fried oyster, all of which are bite-sized. Get Combo 3 instead, if you’re hungry. Food poisoning. We both had major stomach problems throughout the night. For that reason, I’m never coming back again. However, I give 2 stars instead of 1 because the food was at least tasty(albeit super oily and deep fried, but that’s to be expected).
