Come here if you want to get ripped off. Earlier today I called to ask about pricing for my window motor that gave out. They wanted to charge $ 45 just to run a diagnostic test & make sure it really was the motor. I already knew it was the motor so I came to see if I could get a decent pricing. Ha! Wishful thinking. These people wanted to charge $ 188. I didn’t want to leave my window down over night so I asked them to put it up for me & I left a $ 100 deposit for the motor because they had to order it. After coming home and doing some research I found a place in Arcadia that would charge me $ 75 for the motor & $ 45 for labor. $ 120! In total. Compare that to $ 188. The price these crooks wanted to charge. After hanging up with the Arcadia place I called these people back & told them I found a place that is more within my price range & I would like my deposit back. They proceeded to question me & they offered to order a CHEAPER motor instead. A CHEAPER MOTOR?! Why, so it can give out that much sooner? No thanks. After I politely declined the offer, they then told me that I can have my $ 100 back minus $ 45 for the labor of putting up a window. $ 45 for putting up a window?! That was the same price they wanted to charge to run a diagnostic test! $ 45 to put up a window! Wow! Mind you it took him all but 15 minutes. All in all this place blows but hey if you like getting ripped off then this is definitely the place for you.

I am really happy with their work, they installed an alarm on my 1989 toyota van, they did a great job :)

Let me just say, these guys know what they’re doing. Car enthusiasts that have turned their passion into a business.
I have taken 2 cars to them now to get my suspension, tints, and wrap done.
Suspension: Johnny and Peter are experts when it comes down explaining the pro’s and con’s of certain brands and were very helpful when I had to make my choice. They offer competitive pricing and top notch installation. I picked H&R’s for both cars, and they stance is sweet, while still offering a comfortable ride. Both cars were perfectly aligned to spec, and my even tire wear shows their good work.
Tints: A perfect job, no bubbles after a year. The materials they use are excellent and I could not be more satisfied with the work.
Wraps: They are very careful in their wrapping and use the best materials. Amateur work shows over time, The Car Shop employees are professionals at this. No way to tell from the exterior that the car is wrapped.
A very helpful experience for those who don’t know their way around cars, and professional advice for the seasoned veterans. These guys are great to deal with. I’ll be going back to them with my next project.

I needed a remote repair for a discontinued alarm (Hofco). Peter was able to repair on the fly. Thanks Peter!

I am a regular here at the Car Shop and I know the time and high standards they live by. Honestly the reason why I continue to come. I wish I had found this place before making modifications to my car. They give great advice and help customers see all aspects of a decision regarding customization. (From audio to performance)
The employees are great guys with a good sense of humor (for me anyway).
Any and every one I come across, family, friends and random people I speak to on forums, I recommend to this place.
Having had my car worked on here extensively I know how they are very precise with details and if something from other shops/​self mechanics interferes with their work they will let it be known to the owner. They still will try to work around the «hiccups» with great effort.
At the end if the day, anyone who has car issues (casual driver to racing enthusiasts), you have to make a stop by The Car Shop. It’s worth the stop. because once you do, you probably won’t leave haha.

Went into the shop to ask for parts and to find a guy sitting on a desk in front of a computer and not even acknowledge me. I walked around for a little bit to observe what they have etc, and still no one to help.
When i got help by calling them out, the quote of the product was ridiculous high. How could this place still be up and have 4 stars?
People giving them more than 1 star must have no where else to go or have too much money in their accounts.
These people are thief! I would not recommend anyone to come here. I would rather take my business somewhere else where they would acknowledge and greet you.
Disappointment. NEVER EVER WILL I COME BACK TO THIS PLACE.

Saved me a trip to the dealership to replace a key battery and also took the time to replace the screw on the key itself.

I’ve brought my car into this place twice to have the air conditioning fixed, and it’s STILL BROKEN. More than $ 500 down the drain. I called to let them know my dissatisfaction, but he wasn’t very sympathetic. He told me to bring it in again, but why would I want to give them even MORE money NOT to fix the problem? I told him forget it.

I needed to put in a bolt in a very hard to reach place under the dash and they quoted me a reasonable price. They ended up calling me asking for some information and I was able to email them some information. After that they were done shortly afterwards and to my surprised, they charged me less than half of what was originally quoted.

UPDATE: I am making an update because I received a very prompt and very professional reply from Peter to my (albeit very late) review. This certainly deserves a better rating, especially because I had already felt too upset to deal with this situation any longer and The Carshop has made an effort to reach out now that I have bothered to make the review. I do expect to talk with them, and I guess things should turn out alright.

I came to The Carshop in May of 2012 to have some work done on a newly acquired car, and I just realized I have never left a review for their service. Let me just tell you now that if you don’t want your car to be stolen, this place is NOT the place to have an alarm system installed.
Now, I have been around these guys for a little bit, I had been introduced to them by a mutual friend who used to have sound systems or tinting installed in his BMWs. So, when I got my hands on a mint condition Midori Green 1996 Honda Civic, I decided I would like to have these guys install a Clifford alarm.
Long story short, the guys were reasonably professional, the work looked okay at a glance, if mediocre, and the price I paid didn’t make me too happy. In my opinion, the alarm install itself was relatively operational, but still very shoddy work that would be very easy to disable. It additionally caused problems with my starter, causing the car to take long amounts of time for the fuel pump to prime. I had been wanting to have the wiring redone and to have some components moved to make it harder to disarm, but after being hosed on the initial install I wouldn’t really pay them to redo their work anyway.
Fast forward 16 months, to the day believe it or not, when my suspicions proved true. My car was stolen from the driveway of my home while I was home, and it didn’t take them long to undo The Carshop’s shitty work and have my car out of the driveway and running before I could sprint out the front door. My car was missing for a morning, recovered hours later by CHP, totalled on the 60 Westbound heading for Hollywood. Of course I was without the car during the criminal investigation. CHP, however, suggested after inspecting my car that the installers of my after-​market car alarm in all likelihood decided to never install an engine kill-​switch in the system, meaning that even though the alarm sounded, it would have done no good because the car was able to start immediately.
It has been some months, now. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there, and thanks to their service I now have a killer! I also have to be thankful that I do know some true car enthusiasts; I gave my totalled car to a friend who has managed to repair it single-​handedly in under 5 months, even going so far as to have a fresh batch of the original Midori paint mixed and shipped over.
I don’t even know that I want to have to deal with this issue anymore, mostly because I don’t know that I even feel like I want to deal with this place or people like these anymore.

These guys are great. I arrived with a problem with my factory stereo thinking it was gonna cost me an arm & leg. They were completely booked.(which told me they know what they are doing). I made an appointment for the next day. BAM. In 1 hour, problem solved. Peter & John are great. It did not cost an arm, nor a leg. Couldn’t be happier.

This Peter guy is the real monkey of the business. Don’t ever do business with him ever! Not even for $ 1. This guy is seriously stupid and retarded. People that listen to me will forever thank me for saving their ass. I lost $ 4000 on this monkey. This monkey will not stay in business much longer. Just watch!

This is one of the worst shops. 1) bought angel light bulbs here and they had «warranty» had to go back 2 times to get them replaced but they never gave me the bulbs the second time I went. They were a «back order», I guess they’ve been a back order for about a year. They will try to rip you off if you have absolutely no knowledge of products and market value. They tried telling me I had to buy these hid bulbs that were $ 200 when in fact they were about $ 75 – 85. They’re pretty much charging you for their rent.

Anyways, while I used to love this place, the price has gone up while the quality of work has gone down lately. I’ve had to go back multiple times to get things redone, including brake light tint that I asked to be wrapped around (which it wasn’t) instead of just being put on the surface. I’ve also been charged $ 5 for ONE SCREW on my motorcycle that I could’ve bought for a few cents at a hardware store. Peter is the only decent guy and I honestly hope he can get better staff.

Peter is the only reason this shop gets 1 star. Otherwise, if possible, I would give it negative stars. Staff is rude and arrogant. Prices are never consistent, and items/​services are overpriced. I had to take my car back three times to fix the tint, the third time I was given a refund, but not before one of the owners gave me an attitude and stated «you complained about too much bullshit». Are you serious?! If you guys would do things right the first time you wouldn’t have to dish out refunds! Buyers beware!
If you decide to patronize this business only deal with Peter, do yourself a favor and don’t deal with anyone else.

TheCarShop is really what Unilocal is all about. Yes they are great and absolutely earned the 5 star rating but let’s reflect first a little bit on why Unilocal has become so essential. Living in Los Angeles with 12 million others breeds anonymity. It can be easy for people, and people in business, to justify disappointing others. Unilocal shines a brite light on the behavior of people in business. People who do not value relationships can not hide and, most importantly, folks who DO value relationships get a better opportunity to build a loyal customer base.
The project: I bought a car for my son and wanted to enhance it with wheels, tires and stereo. I first had my mechanic service the car. The air conditioning was not functioning properly and by the end of the day he could not locate the issue. While the mechanic had the car I was visiting «tuner» shops to price the enhancements. I visited two shops and left with no particular level of comfort. At that point I checked Unilocal and up popped TheCarShop. Lots of good comments.
My first contact at TheCarShop was Gabriel. I outlined for him what the project was and he zoned in on establishing a budget. The important point here is the budget he developed was MY budget, not his. He was truly focused on getting me everything thing I needed for the budget I had established. Gabriel is a pro, there wasn’t any «haggling» just an honest discussion of prices and options. The shop is family owned and Peter is evidently the next generation. Peter and his crew do great work and they seem to enjoy taking on challenges. The air conditioning became their focus even though that is in no way something they were responsible for. They fixed it!
In the end TheCarShop crew put together a great look with the wheels, they did one of the best details I’ve had in a long time, the stereo and related electronics were outstanding and the price was exactly what they said it would be in the beginning.
TheCarShop is a group that truly enjoy their work. They are conscientious, deliver a great value and, last but not least, they are a lot of fun to work with. Like the Terminator said, «I’ll be back!».

I had my car tinted a little over a year ago using the groupon deal. I had a terrible experience at the time, but didn’t bother to write a review until: 1) I noticed the tint is starting to peel off at the edges and 2) they currently have an undeserving 4-​star rating on Unilocal.
I brought them my car just weeks after I purchased it. Big mistake. They scratched a few plastic panels on my door, and tried to mask it with a sharpie. The film cuts for ALL of the windows were bad. There were also bubbles that didn’t go away after a month.
I brought it in to get it fixed. They replaced the 5 windows that had bubbles, but the cuts were still bad and at one of the windows, they tinted over some dust.
At this point, I felt like they would do more harm than good if I asked them to fix it again. Now, just about a year later, I have to get my car re-​tinted at a more reputable shop.
I would not have my car tinted if they offered it for free.

I have to give these guys some major props. I brought my MINI Cooper in for some discount window tinting from one-​of-​those-​daily-​coupon-​companies and not only did they do a fantastic job, they also fixed my broken glove box for me… for free… without me asking them to do it… just because they saw it needed to be done. I seriously wanted to hug them!
I was a little nervous when I walked in due to the slight disarray of the place and all of the guys working there were tatted-​up 20 & 30 somethings. I felt like I had walked onto the set of The Fast and The Furious during one of the race scenes. BUT, I walked out one happy lady. I would recommend these guys to anyone.

Just had a new stereo system installed and windows tinted. The CarShop did a fantastic job! The tint looks great and the car sounds awesome!
Everyone working here is very friendly and informative. They will take the time to talk you through the system you are looking into and offer suggestions as to what they believe might be a better direction. They also have great prices and a wide variety of different brands they can get if you want it.
This is the place I will come to for my car needs. Plan on coming back sometime soon to add some component subs and a JL Stealthbox. Definitely the place to go for your car needs. Peter does a great job of ensuring a nice professional finish so you don’t only get the sound you get the OEM look to go with it.
