Terrible service. I stood in line at the San Gabriel Lunar Festival for 20 minutes(only 6 people in don’t of me) ONLY to order a watermelon juice for $ 4. The event opened at 11am I got to the front of the line at 1pm… SOLDOUT! No sign. No nothing. I expressed my disappointment to the vendor and recommended to put up a sign for the 20 people behind me in line… He just laughed at me. What the heck? Totally unprepared. I’m surprised I wasn’t even offered a concession or substitute Now I’m in a terrible mood, it’s hot, and I have no refreshing, cold watermelon juice in sight. In the future I recommend signage for sold out items and a separate line for just drink orders to keep the line flowing.

This has to be the best place in so cal. By best I mean closest in taste and texture to Hong Kong. I’ve tried various restaurants here bc this is the first«dai pai dong» chicken egg waffle place I’ve seen. I first tried the mochi($ 6) one here bc I was afraid it would be wrong and wanted to make up for the lack of taste with whimsy. The mochi one was so good we immediately ordered an original($ 4). It was really good too. The outside was the right combo of crunch and soft. The inside was appropriately hollow, but still filled. The flavor most closely resembles the stands in HK. The texture was right on in chewiness as well. It’s not like an American pancake, which I’ve experienced at other places. I found them at the Monterey Park farmer’s market and they said they are also at the Alhambra High School farmer’s market. I’m happy to finally find chicken egg waffles that rival Hong Kong.
