Run of the mill. Went on Monday night. Not crowded. Service from server very good, chefs were not great. Quality of sushi on the lower end of good. They seemed to keep their sushi portions minimal and made up for the lack of volume with crab. Traditional presentations and selection of rolls. Price a little high for quality and quantity of fish. Probably wont go back as other sushi places in the area are better.

Terrible service & a little rude. I get it your busy but to take 40 mins for 2 rolls & then when I ask for a little more Wasabi, she points out that I have wasabi. I get I have wasabi but I wanted a little more & the reactions I got, not very friendly.

Four Zen Sushi on Unilocal.Lived in Aliso Viejo sisters years wanted to try someplace new. The place ROCKS! Very Fresh, Reasonable and Sam the Su Chef made sitting at the Sushi Bar fun. I highly recommend trying this place. I certainly will return for another visit.

Just moved to the area and on the hunt for a good sushi spot. This place came highly recommended and I can honestly say it was pretty darn good! One of the few sushi places who offer FRESH wasabi by request. Sushi chefs know their stuff and the wait to sit down was not bad at all. Personally sitting at the bar gave me faster services but still did not have to wait long if I sat elsewhere. Good sushi and friendly staff. Location is not too bad either, since there is plenty of parking.

My review is mainly on the service. I went in and ordered a dinner combo for carry out. I waited 20 minutes for the order, then when it came I told her what my order was and the lady at the front said«I didn’t order you that.» No apologies or anything. I had read her exactly what I wanted off the menu, she clearly wasn’t listening. She then told me if I wanted what I had originally ordered, I would have to wait longer and pay an extra $ 2. Not that I minded that what I wanted was more, but you would think they could cover it to make up for the trouble. After arguing with her about it for a few minutes, I took the wrong dinner combo as I was not interested in waiting longer again. The food is just ok. Nothing to write home about. She ordered me the rainbow roll and sushi combo. I had ordered the sashimi combo.

great sashimi salad. Sweet server. I liked the iced green tea. Great for a lame OC mall location!

I eat a fair amount of sushi all over the west coast, usually about twice a week. I’m usually willing to give any place a try once. I have favorite spots but have recently moved to the area so I need to find my new local spot. There were a few rudimentary things that were simple misses, that although aren’t a huge deal they were just adding to the problem. Granted it was Saturday night, the place is pretty small. It’s a tight space that people are constantly walking by and bumping you. Right when we were greeted the host immediately asked for our drink order, like as I’m standing next to the table taking off my jacket. We waited for our drinks and probably about 15 – 20 minutes for our someone to come by to take our order. It took an average amount of time to get our food(simple rolls, nothing crazy) they brought both of my boyfriends rolls and forgot mine. Once my roll came to the table I asked for spicy mayo, then flagged someone else down for simple things like soy sauce and then for ginger.(The basics) The sushi quality isn’t too bad, the rice definitely falls apart, but the hand rolls are good size. Once our meal was over we requested the check. It took around 10 – 15 minutes for someone to walk by and ask if we wanted anything else and we mentioned we requested our check quite a while ago. I didn’t believe all of the reviews I read, but now I agree with a lot of them. I can also second the people who mentioned their tables were sticky and the menus were too. Average sushi, awful service, and if you’re not a local you probably get forgotten.

I love this sushi restaurant. They print the price for Toro rather than list it as MP and then charge a variable rate based on the customer. THAT is integrity and fantastic marketing. The quality of the fish is always fantastic. They meet the typical American palate for sushi while also offering traditional rolls that satisfy the sushi purists. They have fresh wasabi that is often served as a standard with sashimi which makes the whole flavor experience so much better. The prices are more than reasonable and I appreciate not paying a premium for some overstated furniture and ambiance when the fish quality is poor or over Americanized.

My husband and I used to eat here every week for date night. We love this place and any time we go to another sushi place, we always find ourselves comparing it to Zen. The staff is really friendly and always welcoming. John is the head chef and is the best! They just re-did the place last year and the new updates are really nice. I love their spicy tuna, my husband loves their baked lobster roll, spicy yellowtail and their fish special(assorted fish in a special sauce). The sushi nachos and elvis roll is really good too. Bring a jacket because I am always cold, that would be my only complaint. Also, they own Ozen sushi in foothill ranch which is just as good and you can bring coupons for discounts off meals for dine in.

This place is the opposite of high quality, fresh sushi. Majority of the menu is deep fried crappy roles that will make you feel queasy afterwards. I’ve had baked lobster rolls at places that are not drenched in oil and believe me it’s delicious! It makes me sad because I used to like this place but the quality of the food has gone down drastically :(also the presentation of the food is horrible. All the rolls looks like they were smushed together in 5 seconds. If I’m paying sushi prices, I don’t want my food to look like someone took a dump. Lastly and most disappointing, the service was HORRIBLE. Our waitress was the most impatient, incompetent waitress I’ve had in a while. We had to get up from the table after 15 minutes of just waiting there to remind them we existed! Anyway, if you like quality delicious sushi DONOTCOMEHERE. You will be disappointed

If I could leave 0 stars I would. My coworkers and I went here for lunch on 5÷27÷2016. A couple hours later, all of us who had sushi definitely were feeling the effects of food poisoning. We will never come back. They need to get inspected by the health department or something! Eat there at your own risk. :(

So far so good! I have been 4 times since I moved close by to this restaurant. Back when I was dating a sushi snob I ate some of the best sushi around the world, so I think I can compare to some high ranking places. 5 stars because they are friendly, place is clean, and the fish is fresh. There is also a back patio that may be nice to eat at, but I prefer to eat inside.

Zen Sushi needs to change their name to When Sushi. When the heck can we get our food? When can we get a refill on a coke? When can we leave? We waited for like a half hour for our check then we waited another half hour to finish our transaction because the credit card machine was busted. Food was alright… I’ve had better sushi at «all you can eat» joints so I felt a tad ripped off here. Glad we ate here though, now we know where not to go when we want to get our sushi fix.

Favorite sushi bar thus far. The first time I came here was for dinner with a roommate, and it was packed. I thought to myself this place has got to be good. I enjoyed their sushi so much I had to bring my girlfriend, but this time we came for lunch. Marsha and Michelle provided amazing, and friendly service, and it was today that confirmed that this is my favorite sushi spot. My girlfriend even said this was the best sushi she has ever had so far. The combinations they have for some of their sushi rolls and cut rolls are so delicious. There was definitely a sushi party happening in my mouth both times I have been here. What we ordered: Baked Salmon Roll(added crunchy), Veggie Tempura Roll, Crunchy Roll, and One Night Roll. All very good and must haves!

This is the best local sushi bar! The staff and sushi chefs are great fun and the sushi is amazing! They have many creative sushi rolls that I love. My son has to have the sushi burrito every time we go. The Salmon Lemon roll is phenomenal as is the No Kiss roll if you like garlic. Definitely worth trying out!
