We have now made this a regular spot, as it’s the best Italian we have found in the metroplex! Not only is the food fantastic(eggplant parmigiana or sea bass are a must!), their service and atmosphere is great! You won’t be disappointed, as we have taken all out of town guests here, and they have received rave reviews from all of them. Their meat and cheese board, polenta, eggplant, and sea bass are hands down phenomenal. The owner makes you feel right at home and the staff is friendly. We will definitely be back for a our now regular visits.

Great food! This is my husband new favorite place and he lived in Italy for several years. The food has lots of taste and the portions are just tight. They have a musician on Weds and Sunday evenings that is very good. The calamari is perfectly cooked and the dipping sauce is very tasty.

Food here is amazing. After searching the area for quality Italian cuisine, we decided to give this spot a try. A very intimate atmosphere that’s wonderfully casual with a menu that’s upscale. There’s something for everyone. We started the meal with the fonduta appetizer followed with the seafood risotto and the putannesca. Wonderfully seasoned and delivered with the flair of a top notch restaurant. Service was prompt and friendly with recommendations from our server. Because it’s a small restaurant, I would recommend arriving early. While it’s not hurried, there is an understandable need to turn tables quickly. We will be back with family and friends.

Slight lack of communication– we were sat, promptly asked about drinks, but then waited about ten minutes before getting assistance with our order. We ordered Alla Creama, pasta with bolognaise sauce, and tiramisu. Absolutely delicious! No complaints whatsoever regarding the quality of flavors. We sat in the middle since it was crowded… it’s a small place with a romantic ambiance, however the music is too loud… but we look forward to visiting again when we’re in an Italian mood…

Very nice quality Italian food. The portions are right on and the ingredients are fresh. I just wish the space they had was bigger, the dining room is small, bar area is cramped, and no place to wait for a table makes for awkward people waiting.

Updated Review: I am a huge bread person and upon my last visit was informed they stopped serving their homemade bread and instead have some crummy grocery store focaccia. This was the biggest thing that made Mio Nonno stand out for me. They still have amazing pasta and great service, but just not the same without the wood fired bread. Hopefully they decide to bring it back…

Okay, I have never been a huge Italian food person. Except for pizza, I have usually found most Italian food to be overly creamy or lacking flavor. Mio Nonno has changed the way I feel about Italian food. I love this place!!! Seriously, I could eat here every day. The Russia, Alla Moda, Ciacciatore?, are some I have tried and are really good. My buddy tries a different dish every time he comes and hasn’t had one he didn’t like. They often times have off menu specials like gnocchi that are great also. The wait staff is always very friendly. The only negative is if you want to eat here without waiting, you better come early. Get there at 5:30 and your good, wait till 6:30 and your gonna wait. It is a small place so waiting can be awkward unless the weather is nice and you can wait outside. If you eat here and don’t love it, you got problems!

This place gets pretty good reviews. The food was good, not great, and we are real Italian foodies so are comparing this restaurant to other similar establishments. Service was again, ok, but certainly not anything memorable. Felt horribly ripped off with the glasses of wine we ordered. Teeeny tiny glasses of really mediocre house wine and quite expensive to boot. I would say there are better options to be had.

I seldom rave on restaurants hidden in strip centers but this gem deserves a standing ovation. WOW! Everything i tried here was fresh and delicious. The prices were beyond reasonable… especially in light of the quality and flavor. This may be my new fav Italian restaurant in the DFW area. Really!

We read great reviews on this place so we tried it tonight for our family’s Mother’s day celebration. Let me start off by saying the 3 review is strictly due to our server. See photos attached Now for the over all review… This is a very tight place but the atmosphere is very nice & relaxing. Comfortable seating but again, expect to scoot through just to make it to your table. The pricing is comprable to Olive Garden, however I feel the quality of the food is a lot better than Olive Garden. Our waitress from the start seemed very rushed, put out & was not helpful with questions we had. Mom asked about a side salad(the waitress said, NOWEDON’T HAVETHEMONLYBIGONESYOUCANSHARE) then as I was trying to explain to my mother what the waitress was saying, the waitress just moved onto one of my sons taking his dinner order(completely ignoring my mother’s questions on the menu). The waitress then asked my other son(who has special needs & is non-verbal) what he wanted. Of course he can not speak but instead of being patient or showing kindness she kepted asking what he wanted 3x as she raised her voice to a yelling level. I was upset but chose to not cause a scene knowing she didn’t know he was non-verbal & obviously she didn’t have very good customer service skills. We ordered water for the 4 of us with lemon. We received water with no ice & no lemons. We kept asking our waitress for the lemons but she didn’t bring them. We finally had to ask the person who brought us the«big salad» to get us ice & lemons.(The salad was not a large salad at all… it was a normal size salad but 2 people could split it with the table bread) The waitress finally brought over a few thin sliced garnish lemons for our table & ½ a glass of ice for 4 peole. When I asked her if we could have more lemons & ice the waitress said, «MORELEMONS!»(with a disgusted tone in her voice). I said, yes more lemons & ice please… we have 4 people. We then got 4 more thinly sliced garnish lemons & never got any ice. Only 1 person got a water refill. Our 1st basket of bread was very tasty but after the lemon & ice request we got a 2nd basket of bread that was as hard as a rocks. Our meals… Mediterraneo — the«large salad» was very GOOD. We would get it again Lasagna — very GOOD. We would get it again Melanzane — Eggplant dish that was FANTASTIC. We would get it again Mario’s — the sauce was AMAZING. It was served with sliced sausage(sausage is not my thing but my son loved it) If it wasn’t for the sausage, this would had been my favorite dish of the night just because of the sauce. We would get it again Caprese Pollo — I thought this was going to be my favorite but I was very disappointed in the dish. It is a thin grilled chicken breast topped with a Caprese chopped salad with a side of angel hair pasta. Beautiful presentation but the chicken was extremely dry. It was so dry that my son was chewing on it like it was hard leather so I had to try it. I must agree, the chicken was so dry it needed to be dipped in some type of sauce just to eat it. We will NOT get this again. Sad since my all time favorite salad is a Caprese We then asked for a to go box for 1 of the meals & the waitress brought over a box & just threw it down in front of me. I didn’t initially expect her to box it up but I did notice the table next to us, the same waitress boxed up their meals. I don’t know what the restaurant policy is on this. Whether they box the melas or not. All I can say, I noticed the table next to us the same waitress boxed up their meals but she didn’t for us. We were NOT asked if we would like any desert so we just asked for the check. The waitress ed brought the check to us & then stood there over us waiti. g for us to sign it. I tried to get up to help my disabled son up & the waitress wouldn’t move because she was waiting for the signed check. I had to say 3x «excuse me» & finally I had to look her I the face & sterling say again, «EXCUSEME»! She did move around to the other side of the table but continued to stand over us waiting for the signed check. This was very rude & felt like either she was rushing us out or watching to see the tip. I hate to say, but there was NO tip left at all. I wasn’t the 1 paying tonight(remember this was my mother’s day dinner) but I guess the service didn’t justify a tip in the end. We loaded up the family intje parking lot & I immediately called the manager. I gave him all the details. He was very nice & apologized several times. He ask us to come back & to ask for him next time. I feel he will try to male it right for us but, I’m not sure when we will return. The restaurant I think is great & the food is very good. However, this 1 waitress made mine & my mother’s Mother’s day celebration dinner not enjoyable & over shadowed I a negative way the food & atmosphere. 4 for the food & atmosphere 0 for our server

The service was ok, but the food was really bad. The noodles were overcooked, the eggplant Parmesan was flavorless. My uncle was raving about this place, but honestly it was some of the worst Italian food I have ever eaten.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for awhile and I shouldn’t have waited so long. The atmosphere is so cozy. Candlelight and red vintage booths. Friendly wait staff and bartenders. Excellent menu choices from pizzas, classic Italian fare, and specialty pastas. Great app and salad selection as well. I was with 2 other diners and we all loved our entrees. Salad, bread, and dessert were above average as well. Service was great and you should ask for Esteban. Aka Norman. He’ll give you extra cheese if you ask nicely. Awesome find in a low key shopping center. I’ll be back for sure.

BESTITALIANFOOD This restaurant is extraordinary to say the least. First off the restaurant staff are extremely courteous. Not to mention the owner is friendly and funny and cracks a few jokes every now and then to keep a nice friendly atmosphere. Even though on Friday nights and Saturday nights the wait times are extremely long do not leave; I guarantee you the wait it is DEFINITELY worth it. The overall the decore of the restaurant is quite impressive and gives a homely feel. The oven where the bread is made is visible to visitors and is quite interesting to watch. Speaking of oven, fresh baked bread is served to guests and is fluffy, soft and delicious. The entrees are delicious with the eggplant parmesan and the Russia pasta(it has a spicy kick to it which I love coming from a Indian origin) being my favorite. I’m vegetarian and they were able to still accommodate my requests and still deliver fresh and delicious food. The food, ambience and service are all out of this world making this one of the best Italian restaurants in Dallas.

So I’m sitting here now. I was starving and found this place in Unilocal.I’ve started with the diavolo pizza. It was very good. I lived in Italy for along time and I must say that this is about as close to an authentic Italian pizza as I’ve had in the US. Very good B+/A-. I’ve ordered the Julio pasta and by the time I’m finished writing I’ll review it but I have no doubt it’ll be excellent. The food looks great but the service is horrible. It’s so bad, that I’ve had to deduct two stars. This is a small place and upon entering you’re standing in the doorway but there wasn’t a hostess. There was a party of about seven in front of me that had to wait but I came in alone and just wanted to sit at the bar. No meet and greet or anything. Finally got seated but there is no bartender and I was neglected for a while. The servers generally look confused, overwhelmed, and disorganized. They’re falling all over each other. Drinks not refilled in a timely fashion, but, amazingly right when my server returns and leaves someone else asks if I’ve been helped. Live guitar is nice, but he plays to loud when he starts feeling himself. The Julio pasta came and it’s good. B/B+. No fresh parmesan… surprising/disappointing for a pretty«authentic» Italian place. So the service has picked up since the manager came from the back and got things under control. In fact, I’m adding a star. All in all. Not bad. I’m going to come back in a week and update.

Our waiter told us they sell one eggplant dish per every other dish on the menu. I love eggplant and couldn’t pass up trying it. It was fantastic — very thin and crispy, filled with a good red sauce and mozzarella cheese. I would definitely return and order it again. My kids and husband had pizzas. The crust was good and so were the toppings, but the sauce was overly salty and the center of the pizzas was soggy. The kids still enjoyed it. I would favor the other dishes. They atmosphere was nice and we enjoyed the live guitar music. Service was average.

As a half Italian, my mother never took me to Italian restaurants. After all, why go when you have an in-house chef? While I can cook a lot of what my mother and grandmother taught me, it’s a labor intensive art to cook a big, delicious Italian meal. So sometimes, it’s best to just go out :). And now I can say there’s a good place close by with similar quality food to my grandmother! It’s pretty cozy, and was packed when we went on Friday night. You can see the pizza oven behind the counter, where a couple Italian looking guys were endlessly making pizza and bread. And let’s talk about the bread, soft and hot, and like Pita pockets with a hollow center. Gotta say it’s one of the best breads I’ve had at an Italian restaurant, and came with the customary olive oil for dipping. I got the lobster ravioli with the tomato crème sauce and chopped shrimp. It was awesome, the sauce was flavorful but not overpowering, and the lobster was cooked beautifully. Wife got some chicken parmesan with spaghetti, very good, and her sister got a pizza which was fresh and delicious. Service was fast and friendly, prices reasonable, can’t complain a bit. The bread and exceptional quality of food scored a 5 for me, I’ll definitely visit again… and maybe bring my mom…:

I have found my favorite Italian restaurant of all time. I want to try everything. Although, the eggplant Parmesan was so good I’d be willing to order it every time. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night and it wasn’t as packed as the reviews seemed to imply. Perhaps because it was Sunday? Their was a musician playing nice musical classics. It made the restaurant have a romantic aspect to it. The service was very friendly and sociable. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Even if you don’t like eggplant it would be worth a try imo. I’d be shocked if anyone ever told me they didn’t like it.

Yum! Haven’t found an Italian restaurant that I really loved in Dallas until Mio Nonno. If Italian food wasn’t so carb-heavy, I could eat here everyday. It’s THAT good. Whenever I crave Italian food, I’ll be coming back here often. Every dish we got was on point! One word: EXQUISITE! The bread that they serve before the meal was so good I couldn’t stop eating it. It only comes with olive oil on the side but ask for balsamic to add to the olive oil, makes it even better :) They also have an awesome lunch deals for $ 10. Get the LASAGNA! wowowwowowow. It comes super hot and fresh and it’s one of the best lasagna I’ve had! We also got the Aragosta(Lobster stuffed ravioli) and the Alla Moda(pappardelle pasta) and they were both super delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection and that sauce on the lobster ravioli was AMAZING! Dip the bread in that sauce… :) The portions are pretty big so we had left overs. I would say this restaurant is better than some of those expensive high-end Italian restaurants with dishes that are $ 25+. But it’s a pretty small restaurant so prepare to wait if you go during busy hours. Other than that, service was excellent and we had a great experience overall. Highly recommended! I can’t wait to come back and try their other dishes :)

I want to come back here everyday! The food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is very cozy. My boyfriend and I came here on a date night on a Friday and it was packed! It is a small restaurant, so I’d definitely recommend going early or late, to avoid the 5−7PM dinner rush. Luckily, we got there right before the rush and were seated immediately. As we were leaving, there was a line at the door. Once we were seated, our waitress brought out the most delectable bread I have ever tasted. I got he Eggplant Parm, which I would highly recommend. Perfection! My boyfriend got the chicken fettuccine alfredo, which he also enjoyed, but to be honest, he’s never met a chicken fettuccine alfredo he didn’t like. My taste buds had a sensational experience and I cannot wait to return. After reading the other reviews, I think I want to try the $ 10 lunch special!
