They’ll try to make your tattoo twice the size you wanted to overcharge you, while other tattoo places are able to do what you want at half the price. Some of the artists are okay, but it’s hit
and miss, and the most overpriced tattoos in Allston.

You have to catch them on a good day. My first experience three years ago was great. I had a lady pierce my clitoral hood. She talked me through it and made it a breeze. Second time I went this year they barely paid me any attention when I walked in. When I asked questions about a prospective piercing they made it seem as if my questions were stupid. I took my business elsewhere to Kaleidoscope.

Went in to get my navel jewelry swapped out as I didn’t want to do it myself for the first time. A perk is that this service is free! :) The lady at the front desk was busy but very efficient and nice. She told me it would be a 30 minute wait and it ended up being maybe 5! The jewelry I chose was $ 45 which is kinda pricy I think, but I also believe you get what you pay for so hopefully this will last a long time. I plan to go back later in the summer for some actual piercings but this was a great first experience. The guy who switched out my jewelry was very polite and kind. He even offered much appreciated advice for switching out my navel piercing on my own next time. Will certainly return to this shop!

Get my first tattoo here! Chris was really nice and skillful! Although a little pricy for a simple small tattoo, overall it’s a great experience.

Alastair is a God. I’ve gotten 5 tattoos by him and I’m currently working on my right sleeve. I refuse to go anywhere else! I found my go to tattoo artist. He is so talented and really works his hardest to give you what you want. Go see him! You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

This place is the best. I had my ears pierced for the first time at 22 in a kiosk at the mall, which was a mistake. The original piercing I got at the mall was lop-​sided and angled in such a way that one ear dropped horribly and was on its way to ripping through my earlobe. Not pretty! I started to let the lobes heal up without earrings, but on receiving a very special set of earrings as a Christmas present, I became anxious to have my ears «fixed.» Mike did an amazing job of that! He spent time looking and my lobes and knew right where to put a new piercing so that my old botched hole could heal, and that the new piercing would be symmetric with the old. I really appreciated his expertise and that he took the time to listen to my particular situation. I’d recommend this place to anyone!

Came here to get my nose repierced in 2015 I think, my piercer no longer works there but the whole experience was one of the best piercing experiences I’ve ever had.
Just recently got a tattoo a week ago. I had Derek, who is the apprentice (though you would never know, his work is amazing), and he did an awesome job. I had a kinda intricate skeleton playing the banjo, and he did it perfectly and was so spot on. Took just under 2 hours, was reasonably priced, and I’m so obsessed with it. I will definitely be back in the next couple of months to work on my half sleeve.
On the community end, I am in the process of putting together a benefit show for Cradles to Crayons, and the shop has kindly donated gift cards to raffle off at the show.
Will never go to another place. Great atmosphere, awesome people.

After living in mass for 2 years and looking for someone I trust to do the rest of my tattoos I wanted I found my answer after talking to derek. Having known a bunch of people who he had tattooed and following his work I was very happy with the results so far. He took my simple ideas and with some creative freedom he came up with pieces that are unbelievable. May more pieces to come from him ajd would highly recommend him and stingray

I am visiting from Philadelphia, randomly decided to get a piercing with my friend. We walked in around 3:00, the staff was very friendly & welcoming. The furniture was unique and the artwork on the walls was amazing! We felt like we had been waiting a long time (however we were told it would be at least an hour) when we realized there was all kinds of games in the corner. I got my rook pierced, all together the total was $ 66. Overall I had a good experience. I would definitely recommend this parlor to anyone.

Amazing experience. Nate was professional, helpful, patient, and incredibly skilled. The price was amazing for the quality of tattoo he gave me. The tattoo healed perfectly and quickly and the lettering is so precise and clean. Will definitely be going back to him in the future.

I had piercings in my ears years ago that had closed. They were able to «re-​pierce» the ears, instead of making new holes. Greatly appreciated. Cost about $ 60. There was a significant wait; it seems I picked a very popular day.

I have no experience with getting a tattoo here, but Kristina and the receptionist were super kind and friendly and gave me lots of advice for my ear piercings and for a cartilage piercing I got sometime ago. She was also very helpful when I needed to change jewelry as well.
I’m just knocking off one star because the wait times were much longer than I expected/​vs other parlors I’ve been to.

This review is for the piercing experience I had here. I was pierced by Kristina in June of 2012 and it was the worst piercing experience I’ve ever had.
*Service: I spoke to the receptionist who relayed what I wanted to the piercer, which off the bat should have warned me to leave right then. I waited for another fifteen minutes and was then called back by the piercer (Kristina) as though I were in a doctor’s office. Then when I got back there, she wanted to verify what I wanted only to discover that the receptionist had given her misinformation. All of that could have been avoided if Kristina had just come and talked to me about what I wanted in the first place.
*Cleanliness: Because the receptionist gave Kristina the wrong information about which piercings I wanted, she sterilized the wrong jewelry and then hastily tried to sterilize the correct jewelry, which did not bode well. Again, I should have just left at this point, but I didn’t realize how bad it would become.
*Procedure: She pierced me while I was sitting up; all other piercers have had me lie down and turn my head to one side. She struggled to get the jewelry in for both piercings, which caused me a lot of pain. Afterwards, she sent me off without even a little baggie of salt.
*Price: Definitely too high for the quality of service I experienced.
*Overall: Neither of those piercings ended up healing. For several months, I thought that I was doing something wrong. But I got my conch pierced in August that same year at a shop in Portland and I treated all three new piercings the exact same. The two I got from Kristina festered and grew bumps and caused me so much pain for a whole year. The conch piercing I got in Portland healed perfectly. Again, I treated all of these piercings the same way. So this says to me that Kristina must have pierced them crookedly or something because they never healed and after about 14 months, I finally took the jewelry out of the two that she had done. I’ve never had piercings reject before or since.
In conclusion, I do not recommend getting pierced at this shop. Maybe Kristina has learned a few things since she pierced me, but beware.

Got my piercings here and the service was excellent and friendly. Recently went back for help on taking a piercing out and putting a new one in. The guy (forgot his name) was great and prompt. Best part was it was free! Felt bad I didn’t have any cash on me to tip. However, I’ll definitely be a repeat customer.

I came to Stingray after several friends recommended it. I had been researching larger gauge piercings for a few months when I finally decided to come in and have it done. I got my ears pierced at 6g by Kristina about two and a half months ago.
I walked in on a Friday night after work, and I waited maybe 15 mins tops.
I was a little nervous because I had never been pierced before. I have three tattoos, but this was my first piercing. Kristina took the time to explain what she was going to do, and she reassured me that I’d be able to stretch my lobes up afterwards as well. She let me check the placement of the piercings and then went ahead and stuck that big needles through my ear lobes. It wasn’t bad at all. She gave great aftercare instructions as well.
With jewelry included (two 6g black Glasswear Studios plugs which were autoclaved in front of me), the total was about $ 80. Not bad!
Two and a half months later, my left earlobe is completely healed. The right one is coming along — I snagged it taking off my shirt about a month and a half after getting it pierced, so it’s taking it’s time. The staff at Stingray was very helpful when I called panicked because my plug came out after it got caught on my shirt!
Overall, I had a great experience with Kristina and with Stingray. I definitely trust them, and I’ll be back for new plugs as soon as my right lobe heals up!
Sidenote: After reading some other reviews, a lot of people have complained about the wait times. If you’re going in for a tattoo, call ahead and schedule an appointment — problem solved. Piercings are walk-​in only. I’ve been in on Saturdays with friends before, and that is for sure their busiest time — so I’d try to avoid Saturdays at all costs. If you go in during the week, it’s much slower and much more relaxed. Weeknights are likely your best bet!

If you want to be openly mocked by a tattoo artist for being a woman who wants a tattoo then this is the place for you.

«Walk ins welcome» my a*s. Walked in once for a piercing that takes 10 mins. There were 7 people waiting. Fine. Came back the next day. I was told there was a 45 min wait. Ok. 2 hrs and 15 mins later…

Every time I go into Stingray they’re always extremely nice and helpful, and there’s always someone there to answer my questions.
I got a tattoo from Chris in February that I absolutely love. The final image that he created is creative and exactly what I was looking for. Everyone who sees it comments on what an excellent job the artist did. I also know a couple other people who love the work he did for them.
A few days ago I went in and got a naval piercing from Matteo. I was a little nervous, but he was super nice and made the whole thing so quick and easy!
I can’t say enough good things about this place and would highly recommend it to everyone. They have a really unique selection of jewelry and artwork as well.

Checking out the portfolios scared me because of all the cartoons, but I’m glad that I took the risk. The portfolio is from what people requested, so i guess I’ll be the canvas for them to build their portfolio on.

I decided to come here to get my cartilage re-​pierced after reading the Unilocal reviews. When I got here, not only did I get my cartilage re-​pierced, I got my belly button pierced too (spontaneously). I am impressed by this place and got the feeling that they knew what they were doing. I love it. It made me feel at ease.
When I got there, they made us sign some papers. I didn’t make an appointment, so I waited 30 minutes to get my piercings done. While waiting, they had iPads that showcased all the work that they’ve done. It ranged from piercings to tattoos.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my cartilage and my belly button piercings! The staff was really friendly. I can’t wait to come back to get my first tattoo here, and perhaps many more piercings.
