Great lunch spot(not too quick, but cheap burgers and awesome tots to satisfy that craving). The fried pickles are some of my favorite anywhere. Beer selection is good, and not a bad cider selection either. Service is friendly. Great spot to just hang out after work. Definitely one of my favorites.

One of my favorites in the area. Great burgers and tots. And for $ 2! Good atmosphere most nights with plenty of TV’s and a huge beer selection. Staff is enjoyable and they always have awesome tunes playing. Perfect place to have a few beers, watch a game and enjoy a couple cheap but tasty burgers. Would definitely recommend checking the place out as it can be tough to see and doesn’t look too impressive from the outside! You will find yourself coming back often.

Awesome late night spot for a beer and a burger. They have a really good draft beer selection for around $ 6 a beer and every day after 10pm plus all day Monday there are $ 2 burgers. They’re pretty decently sized and 2 burgers or 1 burger with a side would make a filling meal. The onion rings are dry in my opinion but everything else is tasty. Also helps that I live across the street from it haha.

Food at The Avenue is an excellent value. Burgers are they’re go to, but everything on the parsed down menu is worth its weight in PBR. This is a quintessential Allston watering hole that has stepped up its cleanliness and friendliness game in the last few years, but its still a pretty worn down dive. Only downside is the lack of an inexpensive beer on the menu. The daily deals on wings, apps, etc are great. The bar is really quirky, but lots of fun. On any given occasion they may have the red sox on one tv, Law and Order SVU, and some ubiquitous movie like Braveheart playing with the captions on. Gets a little seedy late night, as much of Allston does.

Such a cool vibe. They have a great beer menu, good specials, and friendly service. It is a great place to stop by after work or catch up with old friends. Their drink prices are also slightly lower than other bars, so tip them well! The Ave is happy medium between local dive and small brewery. Definitely going to become a regular here, I love this place.

Yum yum yum yum yummy. The drinks flowed like the waterfalls of southern Brazil. The wings were so fresh I thought I was actually biting into a REALLIFECHICKEN! Ever had a McRib? This place is like McRibs on gosh darn steroids — and I mean that. Ps we love Kyle and his little dog!

By far the best value burger I’ve had in Boston. Definitely trumps the Shake Shack — and possibly even In-N-Out. Cheap($ 2) simple burgers all day Monday and everyday after 10pm. The secret sauce is phenomenal and the bun is perfectly buttery and crispy. The other burger options are great too — I’ve had the one with steak sauce and the Cry Baby mMmm. As I’m sure the other reviews will mention, the sweet tator tots(complete with maple syrup ketchup) are insanely delicious. And they carry my favorite hef — Weihenstephaner. Done deal. My favorite bar in Boston. Fun fact: the Cry Baby is similar to an animal style burger from In-N-Out, and used to be called Animal Style, but changed it to the Cry Baby because In-N-Out threatened to sue. This may or may not be true, but it’s a fun story.

This is hands down my favorite Allston bar. It’s has an amazing selection of beers, cheap food and the juke box always plays great music. The bouncers and bartenders are so nice too. If I was going to be a regular anywhere it would definitely be the Avenue. Did I mention their sweet potato tots are to die for???

There are a lot of reasons to like this place. There’s never a wait to find a table, they always have good beers available, and their burgers-wings-appetizers are great(try the fried pickles). If you aren’t into greasy delicious bar food you won’t like it here, but if that’s what you’re craving this is the place to go. Even without food, this is a solid bar to meet up with friends.

For what it is, this bar is perfect. I don’t have anything bad to say about it. The beer selection is good. The burgers are good. The wings are good(go for the teriyaki in blue cheese, damn). The wait staff are friendly. It’s always easy to get a seat. There’s even a secret downstairs area(but you didn’t hear it from me). Great place for a first date. Easy place to grab a drink and just talk. This place is not swanky. If you’re on a diet, probably don’t come here. But if you want a chill atmosphere with great bar food, there’s no better place in Allston.

$ 2 burgers. Say what? Came here last night to grab a beer and decided to get burgers and fries. Place was pretty packed for a Friday night, people either just drinking or just getting a bite to eat. Got the Avenue Burger and a side of fries, and my boyfriend got the same thing except with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. The burger was small, so don’t expect anything huge. I loved the sweet potato fries, but they weirdly tasted sweeter than any other sweet potato fries I’ve had! Not complaining though. They have a pretty decent beer selection, I just got a Downeast cider(I’m a sucker for cider) and my boyfriend got the Allagash White. I think you have to get a drink when you get the $ 2 burger deal. Service– pretty good and the waitresses always come check up on you. You seat yourself when you come into the Avenue. I would come back!

The Avenue is the first place where my roommates brought me to meet her friends in Boston. It is definitely a social-friendly place to meet with new friends. The price is affordable for students, the food is authentic, and it always come with big portion.(Give me Fries & Onion rings, please!) Now, it becomes the most frenquent place to visit after class with friends. We always share 20 to 40 chicken wings with 4 different flavors(garlic, BBQ, sweet tai, and honey muster are our fav.)and order the Avenue burgers for individuals with only $ 2 dollars after 10 pm. There is no reason to say no, even if you are not hungry!

This is my favorite bar in Boston. It took me a while to find my spot, but they offer my favorite everything Beer selection is on point. Jacks abbey Leisure time. Yes. Burgers are straight up bangin. In house ground beef for two bucks. World class. Sweet potato fries are the best and secret sauce is so important. I hosted book club here once a month and there is space for crowded and loud or quiet and private depending where you sit. I have also met many cool ass peeps here and some one is always available to lift my spirits. Most importantly, the owner/manager is so open to comments. If you just tell him what’s up rather than complain via Unilocal,he can make it happen More than happy customer here

This is a great burger joint that fits the laid back/chilled vibe of the neighboring college town. Come here for burgers, or catching the basketball game with friends, or simply for drinks. When coming here order The Avenue Burger. It is everything a burger needs to be. Most burgers over do it with the extra toppings like friend onions, jalapeños, and other extremes like French fries. But not the Avenue Burger. It’s just a simple burger with lettuce, tomato, and tied together with the special house sauce, which brings the hamburger full circle and gives it its delectable taste. Will definitely be coming back again.

This place has really, really gotten their act together. I used to live in Allston about five years ago, and the Avenue was just a dive bar my roommates would hit up on the way to something bigger and better. I’ve since started dropping by here again whenever I visit the Allston area, and hooly schnikies have they improved. Great beer selection(current favorite is Golden Monkey), affordable, delicious food, nice variety of appetizers, tons of space, decent noise level… the Av is just really spot-on across the board. Every time I meet someone here, I have a good time. I’d recommend the fried pickles, the burgers, the onion rings, and the nachos. The mozzarella sticks are nothing special, but not bad. Honestly, I haven’t tried anything here I didn’t like. If you haven’t checked this place out in a few years, it is absolutely worth another shot. I am mighty impressed.

Not a bad spot! I had low expectations for this place considering it’s exterior(and interior) definitely need updating, but when two friends suggested it, I gave it a try! I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and it was decent, rather large(2 – 3 meals), and very reasonably priced! Not sure I’d seek it out, but worth a shot if you’re looking for something cheap in the area. (Edit: after reading all these reviews about sweet potato tots, I might have to seek it out after all…)

The Ave is a great spot in the Allston-Brighton area to grab cheap craft brews and burgers! They have an awesome $ 2 burger special after 10pm daily or all-day Mondays. Don’t be fooled by the cheap price, the burgers are awesome and go great with the house fries. They have a solid line of local beers and ciders which is a huge plus considering how cheap the pints are. In our group of 8 everyone was satisfied with what they got and the chill vibe made it the perfect spot to catch up.

Having lived across the street for 2 years, I am not gonna lie. I judged the avenue hardcore based on the outside. Aka it’s something you would expect in Allston, and would definitely expect the hipster locals to go to, which is probably true. However, once walking in my thoughts changed! I loved it! The funky fun environment is masquered by the sketchy outside. Walker bys beware… Go inside! They have a great bar, and a small intimate seating area that feels like a diner. The décor was very interesting and funky… I really liked it. The best part and most underrated thing about the avenue? Is the $ 2 burgers on Mondays! The burgers are delicious(do not taste like $ 2) and my favorite favorite favorite most obsessed thing and the reason I will now be a regular… Is the sweet potato tater tots! I didn’t even know those were existent! Totally heavenly. Mouth watering. Overall, I was beyond impressed.

The Ave defines the word ‘dive bar’ in regards to Boston, and particularly Allston-Brighton’s cheaper beer scene. Don’t expect the frills here. Do expect $ 2 burgers, cheap wings, sweet potato tots, an all-ages crowd, hockey and football on TV, and even a decent veggie burger option. Most importantly, go to The Avenue for their long line of bar-front taps, with an emphasis on local and regional brews. In short, this is cheap(good) beer and food in Allston-Brighton, steps from the Harvard Ave T stop. If you’re going to watch a game, go early or risk standing.

Not a bad spot for a beer or quick lunch or dinner. We had tried their burgers a Taste of Allston, and even though I’m not typically a burger fan, I was impressed. The prices are reasonable, and they have lots of unique options for their burgers. I had the bird’s nest, which had fried onions, a fried egg, cheese and their special sauce, in addition to a perfectly cooked patty! They also offer additional condiments like sriracha! Definitely a no frills kind of place, but a great option if you’re looking for a sports bar with good food. Also– in terms of accessibility– it IS accessible but the ramp is a tight turn right inside the door and very steep. My scooter had some challenges but we made it work. The low tables are in a separate area, sort of like a patio, but there is plenty of heat, and still TV’s, but you sort of miss out on the«bar» experience. We weren’t able to see what was on tap, etc. But the staff was very accommodating and I sort of liked the quieter private area. Definitely an unexpected gem in Allston!
