Okay drinks and service. Food was just mediocre. We got the wings and fries. DJ did not sound live. Mouse in wall by us stole a chip.

I love White Horse. Not all my friends feel the same way, but every time we go there we have a great time so I’m not sure why they don’t. I love the outdoor patio in the summer, and if it’s slow the bartenders(in my experience) are more then happy to accommodate requests and experiment. They’re also very friendly in general! I like how big it is, there’s no fighting for space. The music is fun — lots of pop and dance — and there’s room to dance without having to go to a club, or you can sit down and relax at the bar or tables. Little bit of everything! And the dudes can definitely be a bit aggressive but that is true at any bar I’ve been to in Boston, unfortunately.

Ugh, I hate this place. Went here on a weekend night for a friend’s birthday and will never set foot in here again. Aesthetically, it’s not a nice place to spend time in, and there were just so many goddamn 21-year-olds(which I can say condescendingly since I’m 25 now) yelling and hitting on every girl and pushing people around. You literally cannot hear a single word that anyone is saying, so you end up standing around staring at people trying to read their lips, which defeats the entire purpose of going out with friends. It would be easier to part the Red Sea than to get up to the bar to order a drink or get to the bathroom. You get jostled constantly because it’s so goddamn overcrowded; my husband literally got punched in the face by a girl«by accident» as we were trying to leave. I do not understand this place.

It’s fun to come here once in a while on weekend nights. Just a tyical college bar with cheap drinks and top 40’s music.

This is a relatively big bar with lots of spaces to spread out and watch the game. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio and the service was really great. I am surprised we didn’t get kicked out since we were quite the lively bunch but it was Sunday and the patriots game was already over. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip and it was okay. Nothing too special. The bathrooms were SOGROSS. Dirty and disgusting. I wish they were cleaner.

Where do I even begin! White Horse has been a long-time favorite bar of mine. The service is great, the staff is amazing, and the food and drinks are the best! Being in the industry it is rare to find a place where you feel comfortable, relaxed, and taken care of. The staff and White Horse goes far and beyond. Whether it’s a low-key weekday, or a busy weekend night, this place always makes me feel right at home! Farish, Tom, and Amanda are the best. Plus Steve, the greatest door guy a gal could ask for!

This review is for the food and drink experience. So I moved to Allston two months ago and I realized that I never went to this classic bar. Then I went here for lunch with a friend on a weekday, and there were literally about 5 people in this gigantic restaurant/bar/arcade. How on earth does this place stay in business, wondered this newbie. Fortunately my gluten-free palate was satisfied; the burgers are outrageously cheap with tasty beef patties, and gluten-free buns are offered. I wasn’t a huge fan of the potatoes in the french fries, but they were salted and peppered perfectly. Overall, one of my favorite Boston burger experiences, with cheap cider on tap to match. Then a week or so later, I walked back home at around 1:30AM on a weekend and passed the Tavern, which had transformed into the biggest and silliest dance club I’d ever seen. Hundreds of people were in there, with a couple of dozen more in line outside. Oh Allston, you never cease to amaze me.

3 stars becusee the service was So SLOW we came here at an awkward time yet… NONE Of the MILLIONSOFSERVERS assisted us… Like ugh… Thanks doorman for checking our IDs but is no one planning on helping us when we are clearly seated at the most apparent table… Literally had to chase down a server and as for menus… Then the drinks were all watered down and the food was… Like you would expect mediocre … Just Heavy. Heart attack. Diabetes inducing greasy food. Got munchies? Come here.

Friendly staff, depends on who you get. Tons of younger girls here for waitress so you might not get consistent service. I think it’s got a great location, good set up because it’s got two pool tables so it really makes it a different bar, especially because it’s so roomy. Got the basketball machines too so it makes the place like a bar/arcade. In the summer, the shades all open up and it’s a good place to just sit and relax. They have a patio/deck outside in the back too but there’s no much to look in terms of scenery. But at night it looks really pretty with the Christmas lights and all. It’s not a terrible place for drinks, the bartenders have descent skills. However, sometimes the drinks can get sloppy with a less-pleasant presentation, mostly when they’re really busy. When the waitresses bring them over, they’re overflowing. They have different events like trivia nights, which a lot of people seem to enjoy. The food is descent, but sometimes taste like something’s frozen and pre-made, and just been reheated for you. It feels like a typical college/frat bar, it gives you the ambiance with kids who just turn 21 and just want cheap alcohol. Most young professional crowd don’t go there so don’t expect to meet someone there. At night on a weekend after 12pm, this place’s got beer bottles on the floor and turn into a frat party.

I came here a few nights ago on a Sunday to have drinks with my friends. The manager farish was very nice and friendly towards us as soon as we walked in. Once we sat down at the bar, we were immediately greeted by our bartender Amanda. She seemed very happy to see us. The lights are kept low and the music was on point. I love that they have two pool tables that are quarter operated in the center. If you walk over towards the second bar which seems to be there to ensure on busy nights that every guest can get a drink quickly, there is a basketball throwing game. It’s nice for some light competition to see who can make the most baskets. This bar is kept very clean and I love that the front windows go all the way down. It is always fun to people watch from here on allston. I also appreciate the door staff that is very nice while checking ids. They are not trying to intimidate you however, will be quick to solve an issue if there is one in order to keep all the guests happy and safe. Not sure when I’ll make it back there, but I know I’ll be there this summer just for the great service and relaxed atmosphere.

This place has been one of my regular places for 3 years now & has managed to impress me each time very differently. I had some of my first legal drinks here, watched the super bowl here, started many bar hops here, danced here and shot pool too many times to count but this time I met ‘Farish’. He made this time a little better with his attentiveness and care while my group and I were at the bar. ‘Farish’ mixed up some delicious shots and introduced me to a new favorite beer(Killian’s). He had complete control of the bar, was humble and friendly. Different circumstances had brought me in 2 Mondays ago + 2 Saturdays ago, I was hosting a dear friend from Brazil while she was visiting Boston. This place made her stay that much better due to the moods The WhiteHorse sets.(She’s back in Rio now, but talks of coming back within the year with intentions of going to The WhiteHorse.) On a different note most of their staff is on their game with a great Guinness pour, which is a win in my book/keeps bringing me back. Cheers!

Honestly, White Horse is the Cheers of the Allston community. It’s a safe bet you’ll see that Tinder girl who’s name you can’t(and don’t want) to remember, that hipster from the coffee shop that always serves you coffee dripping with disdain, and your friends looking to get hammered in a judgement free zone. The staff is always more friendly than they ought to be given the amount of drunk biddies and ill-fitting button down wearing meatheads they have to deal with. This is a bar lacking bells and whistles and honestly, it’s better for it. White Horse is the place you go to play pool, grab some pub food, and have a good time with friends. If you’re looking for TV’s over the urinals and 75 different places to plug in your iPhone 4(because you ball on a budget) this isn’t going to be your spot. If you’re looking for great service, an outdoor patio, and an awesome«go-to» bar, the White Horse will always deliver; in spades.

To sum up all the reviews here, and second what everyone else is saying: You’re never going to have the time of your life here. But you’re almost certainly not going to have a bad time either. It’s the ‘safe bar’, basically when you’re not sure if you want to venture downtown, but you’re also not sure if you want to jump face first into the dumpster-fire that is the Allston bar scene, then you go to White Horse. You won’t meet the girl of your dreams, but you won’t get chlamydia from anyone either. I’ve been coming here for 7 years; the bartenders are friendly, the food is slightly above average, the drinks are strong, the place is spacious, and there are pool tables, those basketball shooting games, and some arcade things in the corner as well. There’s also usually a DJ on the weekend, and about 50 people dancing on a cleared out part of the floor. I definitely enjoy this place, and you probably will too.

I’ve been coming to the White Horse Tavern regularly for over five years. In that time, the menu may have changed, but the overall vibe hasn’t. In my experience, it’s a pretty chill place where you can have a good conversation with friends over a few drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is pretty standard bar food(wings, nachos, burgers), but the portions are generous and the prices reasonable. The food is also consistent in its quality. It may not be the best bar food in the area, but you’re not rolling the dice as to whether you’ll come out with food poisoning after your meal(you won’t). Another highlight of the White Horse Tavern is the trivia nights on Wednesdays and Sundays. They tend to draw a bit of a crowd. Initially a Stump Trivia location, Will(the trivia master) broke with them and is now working with Geeks Who Drink. In any case, trivia is usually a good time and not too intense.

This is not my favorite place to grab a drink, but it’s definitely not my least favorite. It’s a fine choice if you live nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here. Drinks seem reasonably priced and they have decent beers on draft. Food here is relatively cheap and is pretty good. I ordered their truffle fries and my friends ordered burgers(only $ 4-ish). This place gets really loud as the night goes on, but that’s pretty much the same story at every other place in the area.

BAR Whitehorse is your typical college frat bar. Without fail, the bar is full of BU students who just turned 21 with the hopes of getting really drunk on cheap alcohol. Drinks are pretty cheap and there is usually a special like $ 3.00 bottles of bud light. FOOD During the day Whitehorse is a great place for food. The menu is full of burgers, sandwhiches, and anything else you would expect at a college bar. On certain days there are specials like steak tips and fries for $ 8. OVERALL Like I said before Whitehorse is your typical college bar. Don’t go there expecting a young professionals crowd, and be prepared to see at least 4 or 5 broken beer bottles on the ground. Whitehorse is perfect for those nights where you end up in your bed the next morning not knowing how you got there.

Perfect for summer nights with the hidden patio in the back. I mean, I guess it’s not really hidden, but it’s a nice added bonus. Came here with three friends on a Tuesday night and luckily it wasn’t packed like a couple other restaurants down the street due to World Cup shenanigans. We got a table on the patio right away and a few minutes later, our waitress came to take our orders. Their drinks are pretty cheap. I ended up getting an Angry Orchard hard cider for $ 5.50 I believe. Beware: their tables are those kinds with holes in them so if a waitress spills your drink… it will get on you unfortunately. Yes, that happened and our waitress wasn’t very friendly. She spilled the drink on my friend when she put the drink down, and not even a sorry. We had to ask her for napkins and she took her time getting those for us. Oh and the tables are wobbly. Anyways, we ended up ordering some food too. Nothing fancy. An order of waffled battered chicken tenders with a jalapeño maple syrup and a blue cheese and bacon grilled cheese. The chicken tenders were okay. I expected the sauce to be a little more savory and spicy maybe, given the name, but all I could taste was maple syrup. I felt like I was eating chicken with maple syrup and it just didn’t feel right. Too sweet. The grilled cheese was pretty good. Could’ve been cheesier and they could’ve went a little easier on the bread. Too much bread, not enough cheese. But there’s bacon and bacon makes everything delicious. Oh, I should more that the food took at least 25 minutes. Food was slow and service wasn’t great. The three stars are mostly for patio seating, cheap drinks, and a decent atmosphere.

We came here one night for special edition Avengers trivia. I came for the drinks… and my boyfriend went for Avengers trivia. Overall it was a decent night but it is definitely a college bar. The seating is tight once it fills up, but we were seated pretty quickly near the window(at a table that wobbled worse than I’ve ever experienced… and I ALWAYS get the table that wobbles. Service was mediocre, and although my first margarita was close to perfect, the 2nd was a serious overdose of sour mix. The poutine and spring rolls were decent as appetizers, and I like that you can do the pick two or pick three appetizer combos– that was definitely enough food for 2 of us. The staff was accommodating in terms of finding room for my scooter and when they wanted to move it to make room for more tables, they did it for me, after asking permission and directions on how to move it safely, which I thought was awesome. At 10 p.m. trivia ended, and they put up the«velvet rope» as the undergrad line began to form, and we went home for our senior citizen bed time. An ok place if you’re into the college vibe or want trivia, but not one of my top 3 spots in Allston.

I’ve been to White Horse many times during and post-college, and it’s always a good time. It doesn’t look different from any Allston bar, but there are plenty of stories here haha. I definitely think it’s better than TITS, where they always seem to force you to get a table. For me, I consider this my «closer» bar for me, which means that if I’m in the Allston area, my friend and I always end my night here haha. I’m not really sure why, but every time I go here, it rounds out the night perfectly. It’s, by no means, a raging bar where everything and anything happens, but we always go here to get a last call beer. I definitely stay more towards the left side rather than right where there’s a pseudo-dance floor(it’s more crowded on the right side. I’ve never tried to do a game of pool(it looks like the wait/games take forever), but it adds to the easygoing vibe the place has. The crowd is obviously full of college/BU kids, but it’s one of those bars where you can just unwind and regroup.
