My wife and I stopped in there for lunch upon walking in and sitting down we are never even noticed for 10 minutes. Finally we get a gal to take our drink order and give us menus. Our food arrives only to find out they made the wrong meal for my wife, waitress asks if we still want her to make what she ordered, we stated yes and she rolls her eyes at us like it was our fault she made the wrong meal. She goes to the back and returns in less than 5 minutes with a chicken sandwich that is like a piece of rubber. When I question her as to the rubber sandwich she throws her head back and takes it and throws it away then bringing us our bill for a full charge of the sandwich. I question her regarding it and she takes our bill and discounts it 20%. I state to her that her blaming us for the poor food is uncalled for. She gets upset and calls the owner and states she wants to be on the phone with him in case we do something. I seriously thought I was dealing with a 11 year old school girl who couldn’t get her way. Could be a really nice pub if the staff wasn’t so rude and immature.

When we walked in two girls were sitting at the bar giggling and playing on their phones. Once we sat at the bar one came over and asked what we wanted. I asked if there was blue moon on draft and she said no. She did not suggest any other beers. My hubs asked what the founders was and she went and tried to read what the tap said. Once we got our drinks she went back to her seat with the other girl. Seriously, this is a small town and you could make this place so fabulous. Please train your staff and make this a better place.

Walked in and almost walked out right away, only ordering a beer. There were several issues: 1) We were the only non-rednecks there(Friday, 5:30pm). Ugly, loud(despite being half-full), stupid-accent-filled atmosphere. Absolutely revolting. 2) They had little craft beer on tap(thus, issue #1). What was perplexing was the only IPA or IPA variant they had was Founder’s Devil Dancer, an 11% triple IPA. Now, there is an issue here. It was offered as either a pint or whatever the size larger was. This beer is far too strong to be available by the pint — anyone driving home will be far drunker than they realize. It should be in a 10– or 12-oz glass max. I’d like to come back to try their burgers, but they don’t have enough vegetarian options for my girlfriend to join(no mushrooms, so the veggie burger is out of the question). The only thing we liked was that Devil Dancer pint was $ 7, when they could easily have charged $ 10 for it.

Passing through town and needed a place with food/beer. Looks like a small, hole in the wall from the outside… But inside, it’s big & lively. Fast, friendly service. Great craft beer selection. Locals recommended the burgers and quesadillas. Our party had the bbq chicken quesadilla, chili cheese chicken nachos, and a burger. All were good. The place has character! We’ll be back next time we pass through Alma.

Great pub for alma. Good place to watch a game, beer selection is outstanding for a small town pub. Good bar food. Not outta this world, but certainly not bad. Bar staff has been good, but could be a little better. Some of them had mouths like sailors. All in all, great place tho. I’ll go back

My wife and I use to go to the pub. Nice little bar and the foods not bad. The service was horrible. After the first drink, the server never showed up again…4 times in a row. It has been a year since we went there. Tomorrow we will try one last time because of all the good reviews. If it still sucks this post will stay. If it changed for the better so will the review. Good luck!

Absolutely crappy service. They had a beer on the menu I’d never heard of, so I asked the server about it and he said it was a black lager. I said I really do not like IPA’S are you sure it’s not one. The reply, oh no it’s nothing like an IPA. Of course we know the next part he brought it over it was an IPA and I had to pay for it anyway. Absolutely rude workers in this place.

Friendly local bar with a good selection of draft beer. Bartenders and waiters are friendly. Other than the burger and friend pickles, the food is nothing to brag about.

Quite literally my favorite bar in all of Mid-Michigan, and the bar I compare all others to! Now, I am a college student, so perhaps my perception of the bar has been slightly skewed by the fact I am always surrounded by great friends(and professors), but I really do just love the bar. The drink prices are SUPER reasonable(never do I pay more than 4 dollars a drink) and the bartenders are really on top of ensuring that everyone who wants a drink gets one. Unfortunately, while I do love this bar, it is obviously no big-city bar. Your clothes will all indefinitely smell like greasy food and smoke after you leave and an occasional townie fight happens here and there. Also karaōke night is just super loud and a little irritating, in my opinion. Despite this, the bouncer is really nice and always on the lookout for the safety of the bar-goers. The food is also pretty good for bar munchies, and unlike the only other bar in Alma, this one accepts a credit card(on a side note: seriously… who still runs a cash only bar?) Above all else, it is in walking distance to the college and therefore a remarkably convenient location. Go here and love it!

As an Alma Alum, I have to rave about this place. It’s the real-life version of Cheers, because everybody knows your name, and if they don’t, they will before you leave :) The bartenders are great, the drinks are reasonable, the atmosphere is awesome, and there is an upside down Christmas tree instead of a light fixture. Also, the food is good and reasonable too. It’s a great way to meet townies, professors and students alike. My only caution is: do NOT plan to pull out of the parking lot if you have been drinking. Small town+too many cops=DUIs for all. I am absolutely against drunk driving(who isn’t?) but let it be known that you will be caught if you drink and drive out of that parking lot. Your driving record with thank me for the warning :)

Well, I’m not an Almanian, just in town for a soccer game against Alma College. Found the atmostphere and the pub grub to be quite good. Very good bar burger, deep-fried mushrooms and Guinness on tap. It just doesn’t get any better than this. Wish we’d won the game though…

What a pub! This place is simply known as «the pub» by local students. I am sort of surprised to say that this place puts the Ann Arbor bar scene to shame. It’s the ambiance. Everyone at Alma knows everyone, so essentially the bar is filled with friends drinking with friends. And the hard drinks — made with good liquor — are only $ 3 dollars each!!! The bartenders all do a great job, and the drinkers appreciate this. There is a happy mix of Alma students(majority) and professors and townies. The jukebox is of good quality, and there is enough floor space to dance to Biggie with the Almanians and get a sloppy kiss on the cheek.
