Camden Deerfield

This review is specifically in regard to the staff at Camden Deerfield. I have lived in many places my adult life. One thing is inevitable, things will go wrong at some point. Appliances break, lights blow out, etc.
I have lived at this property for 2 years. Of all the places I have lived, the staff here at Camden Deerfield has been most exceptional. As a recent example, my heating unit went out a few weeks back. I came home from work about 5:30pm to discover my home was icy and the unit was not heating properly. I put in a service request to have the problem fixed. Knowing it was late in the day, I expected someone to come look at the issue the next day. But what do ya know… at 5:42pm THREE staff members were at my door ready to tackle the job. Even though their shifts ended at 6pm and I am sure that they were interested in getting home to their families, they made me and my family the priority.
This is just one example of the excellence that Freddy and the staff exude at Camden Deerfield on a regular basis. They are friendly, professional, and intent on delivering a quality living experience.
While there are other nice things to consider about this community, the staff is by far the difference-​maker.

My husband and I lived in Camden for 3 months in 2015. The other residents were pleasant. Some welcomed us on our first day and we became good friends. There seemed to be several families in the community that knew each other and the neighborhood seemed to be very family friendly. The online rent/​bill pay was convenient. We also liked the periodic emails from the office about community events and weather alerts.
Sounds definitely carries between the apartments. We lived on the first floor, so throughout the day we could hear the upstairs children running back and forth. At night, above the sounds of our washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and TV, we could hear the adult activities.
The community has valet trash 5 days a week (no weekends), which is a separate charge from the rent. We lived on the side of the neighborhood without a dumpster. If we had trash the valet would not pick up, we had to drive through 2 gates and go through an awkward second gate opening process to get to the dumpster. Additionally, Camden requires the resident to sign up for Comcast internet, another additional charge. Neither the valet or the cable services seem worth the cost Camden charged each month.
We lived at the edge of the neighborhood near a very busy 4-​lane highway. Although the community is gated, there is not a fence around he neighborhood and we frequently saw strangers take short cuts through the apartment complex.
There was a (20 ft???) construction dumpster in the parking lot during renovations to apartments on our side of the neighborhood. I had flat tires from nails and screws on 2 separate occasions. Frequently, the parking lot was littered with broken glass and other trash. I informed the front office of all of the incidents. I was not offered reimbursement for my tires and it took weeks for the staff to clean up the broken glass. Once my car was tagged (incorrectly) with a large sticker saying it would be towed within 24 hours. I went to the office and explained this was a mistake and I was removed from the violations list. However, the unsympathetic office personnel informed me that although it was their mistake, I was responsible for removing the sticker. It took about an hour and some elbow grease to remove.
We lived in a renovated apartment. The cabinets and appliances were nice, but the «master» bath shower was clearly 10 – 20 years old. When we discovered the dishwasher had not been connected to the water line and the smoke detectors when off (3 separate occasions) the custodians would usually arrive within 24 hours of us logging a request.
Lastly, our move out process was bungled. We terminated our agreement early. Office personnel quoted us the termination price and we obtained the required money order. In the end, we found out we over paid by about $ 200, which was refunded after we moved out. When we terminated, we were told we were required to schedule a walk through on our move out date. When we arrived at the appointed time, we were told the person we made the appointment with was busy and we should come back in an hour. We asked for another person to help us since we had other appointments to keep. We were told there was no alternative and we should return in an hour. We came back after an hour and the office was closed for «lunch» for another hour. So we came back after another hour. The staff performing the walk through did not speak english very well. He made no notes and we had no paperwork saying what we would or would not be charged for in our final bill. He took our keys and told us to return our gate cards at the front office. It was not surprising that our final bill did not match what we discussed with the walk-​thru staff or the office personnel that took our gate cards.

Horrible! The staff is very rude, especially Kate Brown! They make you have Comcast cable but won’t help you if there’s an issue. It’s a community account so there is not much that can be done in your own with Comcast.
I had ants in my apartment and post control came out 6 times but still ants. Saw on crawling on the baby’s toy and I paid the fee and moved out. Paid water and sewer bill every month with rent, but after move out they want me to pay these fees again.
I video tape my apt before I moved out and they still sent me a bill for stained cabinets! First of all, I didn’t even keep for in my cabinets, so how they stained? There was only dishes and medicine in there. Lies! And they do try to nickel and some you. Plus there is no parking! That is because they want to sell u a garage for $ 100. I have never in my life received a bill for after I moved out of a place. Ever!
Also, the dishwashers never dries dishes and water sits in them. Then mold grows. I complained about it, and they gave me a new dishwasher. However, it was the exact same brand and model that grows mold. I was told by management that they had a contract with the maker and thats all they could provide. Really? For $ 1150 a moth for a 1 bed with a den? Plus my rent went up $ 150 in 1 yr. Please look elsewhere. I lived there for 2 yrs and i saw half of my building move out. No one ever stays there long!
