Hop Alley Brew Pub

The bar tender was not happy serving our drinks. It was 11:00pm and he just wanted to leave. He was rude.

Traveling with work a lot, I have been to my fair share of breweries around the country. Although Hop Alley’s Hellfire IPA was good, it was certainly nothing to write home about. I also had their salad with apples, pecans goat cheese, and their house vinaigrette, as well as a side of sweet potato fries. Again, nothing that I couldn’t have made at home for a lot less $$. However, I did absolutely LOVE the fun, shabby-​chic vibe of this place, as well as their open brewery. It was really cool to see all the piping and watch (who I assumed to be) their master brewer try the beers.

Wonderful atmosphere! Stopped in town for a concert and glad we chose this place. Amazing beer and amazing tacos! The cheese curds were the best we’ve eaten. We will definitely find a reason to go back!

Excellent spot in the heart of Alpharetta! Excellent beer, food, and service. We all enjoyed our menu choices!

Wow — Hop Alley has sure changed since our last visit.
Ran out of brewed beer and the food was not very appealing.
Disappointed– will be awhile before we go back.

What had happened to the good quality here? We’ve been coming here since their opening. Tonight’s food was one word Cold!
Our pretzel seemed barely warmed & lacking taste. This app has changed & not worth it anymore. My fish tacos were room temp. Flour shells cold. Meatloaf sand the same. After telling our sever, the situation after she came over when we were done, the manager adjusted the bill, but wrote a derogatory comment on the reason for the comp. when questioned he said it was for management to see!!! Really, then don’t put it on my copy! Sorry to see this happen here! I have sent people there in the past too.

I’ve had a burger, a sandwich, fries, & the smoked gouda mac & cheese — all were excellent. The burgers are average sized, but the one that I had included a great sauce on it, as did the chicken salad sandwich I had. The sandwiches all seem like they pay close attention as to what goes on them & how they taste in the end. I think the prices are reasonable for all that you’re getting as well — about $ 10 average for a sandwich or burger.

Probably the best dinning experience in the downtown Alpharetta area. You can taste the hops in the house made brews. Definitely to die for. I was skeptical of the Brewer Burger but let me tell you what peanut butter fried egg bacon, beer and cheddar cheese, on a burger with I touch of ketchup never tasted so Devine. I felt like it was Guy Fieri reaching down from the food heavens to bless me with this heart attack on a bun will make you not want to move for a couple days but combined with a side of the Gouda Mac you just might have to get your cholesterol checked.

Great collection of craft beers — plenty to choose. Cheese curd app was yummy and very filling. Burgers tasty and cooked perfectly.

I am in Alpharetta for a week on business. I stopped here because a lot of people suggested it and the ratings were decent.
When I walked in I was one of two people there. As I sat down someone else walked in. Being new to the area I took a minute to check out the beer list and look up reviews for each one. My initial ordering of a beer went pretty fast. I got the «little boy» which is one of their brews. It was really good!
I was then left to look over the food menu. I was on the fence of where to go for dinner, but when I started reading some of the menu items I really wanted to stay there and try them. The gentleman next to Me said the cheese curds were great and I was interested in the frog legs and duck sandwich. So my mind was made up on my order, I closed my menu and waited.
And waited.
And waited… Until I was completely done my beer, and my water, and had still been sitting there for a bit.
It seemed the bartender, who was very personable and nice at first, had begun talking to someone who was either a regular, or someone he had a lot in common with. This in turn made him forget his other patrons.
At this point I decided to not order anything else as I didn’t want to wait too long. He finally came over and asked «ok another water and… Same beer or something else»
I said no thank you I will close out. To which he said «oh ok one and done huh? Not even a water?»
This could be construed as a friendly quip, and I for the most part saw it that way… However at this point I was frustrated, and ready to leave and find somewhere with more attentive service. It’s a shame though, the menus descriptions of what I had wanted to order seemed really promising.

If I lived close to this place, I would have been a regular.
The place is very appealing. Brick wall inside makes it look like a warm hut. Illumination inside made me feel relaxed. There are few TVs but everyone inside is just having fun and enjoying their drinks and meals. Although there might be so many people, it wasn’t loud at all or noisy.
I wish I sat at the bar. I liked the long counter and the comfortable seats. Something also that made me very comfortable is the space between tables. the tables were distributed perfectly inside the restaurant.
Food wise, I think I didn’t order right. I loved the cheese curds so much with my wild rooster beer. That being said, the meatloaf sandwich was cold from the inside. There was nothing special about it. I was looking for a chicken sandwich but the choices were a little limited. My friend had a pimento cheese burger and he loved it. It looked amazing too.
The prices are very reasonable and the service is good.
I would like to come back for a burger, beer and to sit at the bar. Cannot wait for my next visit.

The beer was amazing, loved the Maggie Claus. The food was more than exceptional. Loved the pimento sandwich and the avocado chicken salad.

The beer selection is great and all of the veers were enjoyable. The build your own burger was delicious, the bacon jam is excellent. The burgers were cooked properly and were flavorful. The Brewers burger was good, but the peanut butter was a bit off putting. The pimento cheese sandwich was served on a tasty wheat bread, the consistency of the cheese combined with bacon and avacado made for a great meal. The gigantic side of onion rings were tasty, and the sweet potato fries were great without the sweet toppings. The duck tacos were delicious, and perfectly done. The staff was great and friendly. The location is interesting, but a little light on parking, since it’s downtown.

Hop Alley captured my interest the first time I passed it. It is located near Old Milton and Highway 9, near the City Hall. When you walk in you have your bar extending along the right wall with the beer vats in the background and on the left, extending to the rear entrance you find your seating. There are both tabletops and booths, so everyone can be comfortable. I went with one of my buddies and we sat in the center of the restaurant. Our waiter was immediately greeting us and explaining the menu items. I love trying all the house beers, so I opted for the flight. It came with 4 samples of my choice. For our appetizers we got fried pickles and frog legs. This was my first time eating frog legs, so I was excited. They were decent, with a nice basting of hot sauce on them. I wish there was a dipping sauce for the frog legs though, since that would take the dish to the next level. I was not a fan of the fried pickles though, not to say that Hop Alley was at fault; I simply can’t tolerate fried pickles. My dish was the Avocado Chicken Salad sandwich, which is more of a lunch dish, but I have had my eye on this since the first time I looked up Hop Alley’s menu. The sandwich was exactly what I anticipated and I would definitely recommend it to others. It was light, yet flavorful. Overall, awesome energy at this place, good food, decent beer, stellar service. This is a great place for any meetup including, but not limited to, dates, reunions, eating by yourself, work meetings, and birthday dinners.

Atmosphere can make or break a dining experience for me. I was in the mood to relax in a dark wooded bar with a craft beer. My Unilocal research brought me to Hop Alley Brew Pub where I found both. We ordered a flight of 4 of their 5 on tap Hop Alley brewed beers. I enjoyed all 4 with the high gravity Crooked Cardinal coming out as my favorite. The cheese curds were fantastic. Our server, Nason, recommended we add a little Sriracha to kick them up a notch. Great suggestion. The hamburger and steak sandwich were both good as well. I’m definitely going back. Atmosphere, service and food were right up my alley if you will.

We had a fantastic time! We arrived around 7:30 pm on Saturday, and didn’t have a wait — an awesome start to date night.
We decided to order a lot of appetizers and split an entrée — highly recommend the Cheese Curds, Pretzel roll with spicy mustard dip and Bacon in a Jar.
The menu is perfectly designed to pair with the fantastic array of house made beers! We took our waiters suggestion and went with the lightest of the homemade beers (can’t remember the name but first on the menu) and it was fantastic! So much less expensive than most other mainstream beers, and better.
Must go!

Food: Ordered cheese curd, bacon jar, pork rind and frog legs.
Entrees: I ordered the cowboy ribeye steak with the bacon jam and Gouda Mac and cheese. Overall, the food was pretty amazing. The steak was ridiculous huge and delicious. I had no complain about the flavor. It was cooked to perfection. I did not expect that from a Pub place. 4.5÷5
Atmosphere: great atmosphere with very spacious seating. However, I wish there were more TV through out the entire dining room. ⁴⁄₅
Service: we had over 15 people for dinner and they were on point and fast until entrée. Appetizers came out after 13 minutes of ordering. However Entrees took over 44 minutes to come out. The restaurant was not busy but I guess they wanted to serve everyone all at once. Our waiters were amazing and very attentive to detail. We had 2 waiters. Overall, they were very well trained and professional. ⁴⁄₅

Thanks to Charlie B. and his recommendation several months ago, I am now a HUGE fan of this place. I dig brewpubs but what is super great about Hop Alley is their food is fantastic. They are located right off of Main St. in the Alpharetta Business District. Parking is definitely available on the street or at nearby lots. Service has always been stellar here and they have great week day happy hour specials as well. When you walk in you can’t help but notice the giant fixtures where they brew their beer. Not sure what they are called but they have plenty right in the open by the bar. The place is well laid out. There is plenty of seating at the bar and throughout the bar/​restaurant.
We always have great service during each visit. If you like meatloaf, they have a great entrée that comes with creamy mashed potatoes and green beans. Definitely a fan of this entrée and will always choose that as my number one selection. My boyfriend digs their duck confit sandwich. It does come with sauerkraut on a sourdough bread but if you’re a fan of duck meat, then you’ll dig this sandwich. Our favorite sides are the Gouda mac and cheese and the steamed broccoli.
During my most recent visit, I tried their 12 oz. NY Strip steak because they were having a special and it was cooked to perfection! I asked for the steak to be cooked «medium» and they did a fantastic job. Typically when I order steak they can never get it right but the folks over at Hop Alley did a fantastic job and I regret not taking a picture once I cut into the steak last night. Looking forward to future happy hour visits here and introducing new friends to this neat brewpub!

Favorite neighborhood hangout — really good beer and mouth watering burgers. Knowledgeable staff so you can rely on their recommendations. Hop Alley has a great back patio to enjoy the summer weather and — a big plus for us — the patio is dog friendly.
The menu ranges from steak to salad, and while its a brewpub, Hop Alley also has a solid spirits menu. Good food, good beer and a good environment.

When I arrived the restaurant was near capacity, but I was able to get a seat a the bar. I previewed the menu before arriving and knew I wanted to try the cuisses de grenouilles and duck confit sandwich.
I looked over the drinks and requested a sample two of their beers. I tried the Hellfire IPA and Titletown Pilsner. The Hellfire IPA was a good balance of citrus notes and hops. The Titletown Pilsner was okay. I decided to buy neither and opt for my favorite bourbon, Angel’s Envy [neat].
The frog legs were good, with the exception of one that was undercooked. I tasted the garlic butter soy sauce, but did not use it.
The duck confit sandwich has meat from duck legs, apple-​bacon kraut, a housemade BBQ sauce and fried onions and pickles. Although good, it was not the best flavor profile for my palate.
I chose pimento cheese grits as a side. The grits were good with a dominant pimento cheese flavor.
The brunch menu looks appetizing. I may try something from it on a future visit.
