History

Established in 1996.

I was working as a valet attendant at a night club in Atlanta for many years. When it wasn’t busy, I would actually wash, wax and detail my car in the parking lot. I had been working at the club for many years and was told that the life span of a night club was about 3 years. This club was open for many years and I already put in 7 years. I began to realize that this good thing could end anytime. I was making a lot of money. All cash. My wife and I were married a few years earlier. My background was in visual communications from the Art Institute and I didn’t graduate. Yikes… I had no way to provide for a family if I did lose my job at the club. That’s when it hit me… I frequently went to a hand car wash by my apartment and found I was disappointed every time I went… Why couldn’t they clean my car like I do? So, of course, the light bulb came on. I wrote down catchy names that I thought might work, sifted through them and Vuala! Mammoth Detail Salon was born.

I moved to Atlanta in 1985 from Johnson City TN. My father was in the USAF and we moved from city to city all my life. He retired in Tennessee where I attended Daniel Boone High School for my last two years of high school. After graduating I moved south to attend the Art Institute of Atlanta.

Struggling with school and working two jobs I dropped out of the Art Institute. I found myself working a valet parking job and soon realized I was very good at running the lots on my own. I later was offered to run a lot from a night club on my own. The life span of a club is usually no more than three years, I was parking cars at the club for seven years. I knew I needed to venture out before something happened with the club. I love cars and detail work. Things seemed to fall together in a way that I found my niche… Mammoth Detail Salon… I am able to help people feel good about what they own. Pamper your car with a luxury bath soon came to be known synonomously with Mammoth Detail Salon!

Worst customer experience of my life! They damaged my brand new SUV by using the roof rail to pull themselves up… They claim it was already damaged yet the vehicle was 3 months old and in immaculate condition before they got their hands on it. It’s really sad when a business flat out lies to cover themselves. I’d suggest keeping your vehicle away from them if you value your car and integrity.

I had two labs in my car for 2 days and could have made a new dog from the amount of dog hair in my car. Mammoth did an Interior Detail and I haven’t found a stray dog hair since! They did a great job.

I did some research on local car washes close to my office and figured I’d stop by here for my lunch break today. Before coming here, I downloaded their iPhone app to check how long of a wait I could expect, but I kept running into a server error when doing so. Checked out their website too, which promised a timeframe of 20 – 45 minutes.
When I got there, the sign I pulled up to quoted a different timeframe: 30 – 80 minutes. I also originally asked for a Mini Mammoth wash, but I think the attendant misheard me and put me in the system for a Mammoth wash instead. I didn’t realize this until I walked inside, but figured my car could’ve used a little vacuuming anyway, so I didn’t push the issue.
I was there for a bit under an hour before they finished with my car. Surprisingly, there weren’t too many cars, but they did look a little understaffed. To their credit, they did a pretty good job with the exterior, but I was a little disappointed with the interior — it didn’t seem thorough at all. It was a total ripoff for what I actually got.

It seems that something may have changed as I have used this place for years. Got the $ 19.95 wash only to find out that is wash and dry only. No vacuum or wipe off the dash. I was surprised since a $ 20 car wash is pretty basic and similar service in most places. Not here. I’ll find another.

Jimmy and the team were amazing! We had a grocery incident where an entire gallon of milk burst in our trunk and leaked all over the floor in the back seat… in August! The smell was terrible. They did an entire interior detail and did an ozone treatment for the odor. It didn’t come out the first or second day. They kept the car and continued working on it until the job was done — no extra charge! We now have our car back stink free. Very pleased with the results.
The one point of feedback is that they were a little slow to call us to let us know they needed to keep it for additional days. This made it hard to schedule pick up and drop off of a rental car. If you need to leave your car overnight be proactive about calling them for pickup.

Drove by this place earlier in the week and figured I would give it a shot next time I needed a car wash.
I haven’t really found a place I like on this side town in Alpharetta, as I usually use Club Corners in Johns Creek.
Anyway, getting to this place is a tad difficult if you are heading west on Old Milton. You can’t make a U-​Turn as the light prohibits it, so you have to turn left at the light and basically turn around and make a right to go back east on Old Milton. It’s kind of tucked away away from the road, but is definitely visible.
I would usually say $ 20 for just an exterior wash is pricey, but considering this is a hand wash and you get a wax and tire shine, I say it is a decent deal. They offer plenty of options, so you can easily get the interior cleaned as well.
The folks at the front desk were a little slow, but were easy to deal with. I think they were training some new folks.
Car wash probably took 20 minutes and they did a great job. Will definitely be back here again.

My car was in desperate need of a good cleanse, so decided to make an online appointment with Mammoth. I pulled in, and they were slammed. I decided my car needed a lot of work so I opted for the Full Detail for $ 214 including tax. It included a hand wash, shampoo carpets and upholstery, clean windows and all mirrors, clean leather, shampoo interior paneling, detail dash and console, treat and condition leather and vinyl, degrease and clean all jams, orbital wax, silicone tires and rain X application. They quoted me about a 5 hour turnaround and that was pretty accurate. My car looked brand new. They did a stellar job getting it cleaned up and didn’t seem to miss anything other than putting my rubber mats back in, which I discovered after driving off but got them back easily the next day. They have outside and indoor seating and have a big screen tv to watch while you wait. You also get a 30% discount on any services within the next three months as long as it’s in your name, so we came back with my boyfriend’s car and has his cleaned. He got the $ 100 detail and I honestly couldn’t tell a big difference from his to mine… so may do the lesser of the two next time. Excellent job guys!!! I’ll be back!

I changed to Mammoth after my old place I went to closed, I wished I had changed sooner. This place actually does a hand wash instead of running it through a machine and drying it off by hand. About 10 years ago I started taking my cars to have them professionally cleaned, in that time. Mammoth does a good job but they could use a little extra help inside. The person who runs the front desk also has to run to the back to check in cars, he is always at the other locations from me and I end up waiting for him. Its a small thing, but it would be good if both front desk and back check in could be staffed full time.
Their app is very useful since it gives you an estimate wait time for your car, and it was surprisingly accurate on my last visit.

I have come to this place 3 different times now. Each time I become more and more disappointed. Starting off with pricing. I typically do not mind paying the premium price when it comes to getting my vehicle washed but I always end up getting a less quality job then the surrounding competitors for nearly half the price. I don’t know when I will give them another shot but I will give it a little time before I try again. Please work on quality control to match your pricing. Quality over quantity would be my suggestion. When going to this location, be sure to have a realistic time expectation, they are busy and all cars are handwashed, there are plenty of places to walk and even a starbucks right next door, this place has all the resources needed to be perfect just seems like they take too many shortcuts to be fast. Even the person that accepts the tip usually is very quite and really no enthusiasm which to me should exist with the premium price you’re paying. Atmosphere inside and outside is cool, plenty of seating, WiFi and even a snack bar. Hope to see this place turn around as I promised myself I would give them another shot in the future.

Took my Cadillac CTS Coupe there for a wash and detail and it was absolutely great. The car looked like new when they were done. Removed every singe item from my can and put it in a bag so they could have complete access to scrub the entire vehicle. I’m very picky and they totally exceeded my expectations. I’ve had cars detailed before and spent more money and gotten far less for that money. I will certainly go back. I’ve had my cars washed there several times but this was the first time I had them detail one. I was a bit hesitant at first because I usually do it myself. I won’t in the future — much better to have them do it.

I’ve been using Mammoth for several years and won’t go anywhere else. Sometimes there is a wait, but their new app lets you know ahead of time so you can go during less busy times. I’ve always been pleased with the regular wash and we have also had great results when we have done details there as well.

I teetered between giving them 1 star or 2. Finally decided on 2 because the car wash wasn’t bad.
My first mistake was coming here on Ladies Day (25% off). It was busy and the wait was about an hour and a half. I’m guessing that’s the reason for the next issue. I asked for shampoo on all my seats, I was charged for Cond. Leather seats (I don’t have leather seats so this would not benefit me at all) My own fault for not checking to see what I was charged for before paying for it. Next time, though, the person «taking my order» needs to make sure they listen correctly and charge correctly.
Lastly, they vacuumed my car, but left plenty of crumbs on the seats so if didn’t even really look like they vacuumed.
Overall, disappointed, but at least the exterior of the car is clean and shiny and the windows are streak free. Will I be back? MAYBE for just an exterior cleaning because it’s close by my office, but, I’ll be on the search for a place that will actually complete the job.

Past 3 times I’ve been to Mammoth the wait has been over an hour. They just don’t hve enough people working. It’s pathetic. Nice day and 5 people working. Strongly recommend finding a new place!

I brought my 2012 Dodge 1500 in for the #1 Ultimate Detail package on September 21st, 2013. I had been going to the other ‘big’ place in town for almost three years. With the quality of job progressively declining at the other place, I thought I would try this place out after hearing good things.
The job they did on my truck was simply amazing. Every last detail was taken care of including things that had never been at the other place. The team is great and super nice. No high pressure sales, just great service.
The only con I can think of would be that if your getting a detail its probably best to just drop it off. There is not much to do in the area besides hang out at Starbucks just down the block. They have a nice little comfortable setup to watch tv in the lobby, which is probably great if your just going in for an exterior wash, but a detail is a full commitment.
All in all one of the best car washes I have gotten.
