Place is REALLY good. We had the Chicken Tikka Massala. It’s delicious! Creamy sauce and not greasy like some places. The nann was fresh and delicious.

Went for dinner to Sitar with my wife. Ordered some appetizers to start. The dahi samosa chat was delicious. Chicken biryani was very good. Overall, impressive food, worth the trip from Marietta.

Chicken makhani tasted great and first time I had this dish and didn’t get an upset stomach. But for the price I thought we would get more rice with the two dishes we ordered. Loved the taste and know I will be ordering from this restaurant again, but every few often because of the price. Also ordered samosas(price were great but the tamarind sauce was too liquidy, taste was a bit bland). they were also too oily. as soon as I picked up the samosa the oil seeped onto my fingers.

I was not expecting this to be anything out of the ordinary but I was pleasantly surprised! The chicken in both entrees was tender, most and plentiful. The Korma sauce was delicious as was the Tikka Masala. The naan was fresh and puffy. We WILL be back!

Ambience is typical of Indian restaurants — sparsely refurbished. Food was slightly better than average. Specifically the vegetarian dishes(palak paneer and dal makhani) were good, non-veg dishes were average to below average(chicken tandoori had a bad smell that put me off the meal entirely. Good thing I waited until the end to start on it). Desert was also typical of Indian restaurants — too sweet and distrusting! The service was just absolutely terrible. Every time we had to call the waiter for service. No refills, waiting and waiting for the check — so I thought I would put the time to good use and write a review!

Very good Indian food, and friendly service. They also deliver, but I like to take out because of the online discount. They will adjust the heat to your tastes. Very friendly service. Recommend the garlic naan, the chicken curry, and the vegetable pakora.

Sitar is right around the corner from me and I eat Indian food at least once a week, as I am vegetarian. I love saag paneer and consider myself a sash paneer guru. Sitar’ was bland, bland, bland. It tasted of no seasoning, only heavy cream. I won’t return. Don’t want to slam the ratings because it is highly possible that other meals are great, as stated by the reviews… But if you are going for saag paneer, I suggest somewhere else. Staff was extremely kind and attentive though!

The food was excellent, we requested it Madras and that is what we got. The spices danced in my mouth which for me has been the test for good Indian food for over forty years. It was not the bland, tasteless, American style Indian food that you usually are served in Atlanta. If you like Indian food and you are used to big city(NYC) style relatively authentic Indian restaurants you will like this one. Portions are large.

I came to this restaurant because of the reviews and I have to say that I’m glad I came! We had the chicken Tikka masala and me and my kids LOVE it! Great customer service too! I would highly recommend this place!

My coworker and I decided to venture out beyond our ½ mile usual radius and we couldn’t have been happier. Being someone who passionately hates buffets, I was sooo super happy that a buffet wasn’t offered, but instead a great lunch special. For $ 8.99 I got soup, an appetizer, an entrée of my choosing(chicken tikka masala for me; paneer tikka masala for my dining friend), vegetable curry, rice, naan and dessert. For $ 8.99! We were both very happy with our choices and the fact that we were both full, happy, less poor for a reasonably priced meal, appetizer and a small, delicious dessert. It was so good. So we will be back.

I have never been to this place for lunch so this review is solely based on their dinner menu. I usually do not usually write reviews about places visit but I can safely say this is my favorite Indian restaurant in town. Unlike other Indian restaurants where the meat or the paneer(Indian cheese which resembles tofu) is the primary element of a dish, their sauce/curry is definitely the main player in their dishes. Just like most northern Indian restaurants, their dishes are overall creamy and buttery. However, unlike other places where they overdo this creaminess, their dishes are not overly creamy to the point where one spoonful of their butter chicken(makhani chicken) will leave you gagging for how dense it is. From the multiple visits I’ve had at this location, their chicken jalfrezi, chicken makhani, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, tandoor chicken, naan, paneer kulcha and lentil soup are all simply delicious. If you decide to order garlic naan instead of normal naan, be ready for a very strong garlic scent because they use raw garlic on their naan which some people could find a bit too overpowering. Their flavors are deep and there is something different about their cooking that stands out from the average Indian restaurant in Atlanta. During my last visit, there was a couple with children that ended up returning their dishes because they said the«mild» was just too spicy and did not even give the chef the opportunity to remake it «non spicy.» However they did enjoy the tandoor chicken(which the waiter explained it to them as «clay oven baked chicken.») If you enjoy a jalapeño or sriacha with your meal, I would recommend ordering spicy from this place. If you order«9 to 10 hot» you will still get a milder version than what you would think«Indian hot» would be. In fact, it’s nowhere near the spicy level of the the hottest Korean fried chicken. If this will be your first visit, just remember this is an Indian restaurant after all, and you will be dealing with spicy food in general.

If you are not Indian and it’s a Saturday night don’t go there they don’t want you there. I went there for take out, they sat me down and ignored me for several minutes, then gave me a menu and ignored me for more. All the while waiting on and seating Indians and even checking on them while ignoring me.

Well, three stars stands for«A-OK» and I think this fits the bill, sort of? I mean, this wavers between 2 and 4 stars — let me explain why. The actual, honest to god food is amazing. The naan is so yummy, the chicken curry has these large chunks of chicken boiled in a deep rich curry sauce, and the saag paneer was super yummy. However, here were a few big issues that made dining here painful(which from what I gathered very few people did). First, the place smelled like a motel from the 1990s. It is very unpleasant. I don’t know why it smells that way, but it smells musty and old. I don’t know the reasoning behind this smell, but it was very pungent. Second, the water tasted as if they had a garden hose and poured the water straight out of the faucet. The local water tastes great, I don’t know what malfunction added the garden hose taste, but it was miserable. Third, the table clothes are stained and very old. Finally, the samosas didn’t taste very good. Edible, yes, enjoyable, no. So the dining experience was basically two stars if not borderline one, but the food was four to five stars. So we arrive here at three stars. The proper way to enjoy this place is just to place a to-go order, which while dining there many people came in for pickups and few people sat down. Judging by lots of pictures on Unilocal, the best thing seems just to get your food to go. Oh and the chutney/picked veg they brought before dinner was horrible, but that could just be me. Anyway, it didn’t leave a good or horrifically bad experience, and I’ll probably be back to get some of that chicken curry… to-go.

For a delivery Indian restaurant in Alpharetta GA this is a really solid place. Not to diss on Alpharetta, but it’s no London of NYC and that has it’s pros and it’s cons. Thankfully, not being able to get decent delivery Indian is not one of the cons. What we’ve eaten: Chicken Mahkni(sp): This is essentially butter chicken. I ordered this knowing it was British/American Indian junk food. This version is more British than American though. What do I mean by that? It is sweet, like the chicken tikkas/Mahknis you get in London vs the ones you tend to get in the states which are more savory. Neither is authentic to India so it’s a preference thing. I prefer it savory but this wasn’t so sweet it was offensive. Saag Paneer: OMG this is awesome here. So creamy and flavorful. The husband gets it hot which surprisingly is also really good. Biryani: Solid biryani. We’ve had it both with lamb or chicken. Would order again. Naan: Solid naan. We have had the garlic and regular naan. I think the garlic is better but that’s a personal preference thing. You won’t go wrong with either. Note: When they say spicy, they frickin mean it. It’s not authentic Indian spicy, but it’s certainly more than most places so if you like the heat go for it, if you don’t, stick with mild.

The food of this restaurant was good. I would have given them 4 stars but I deducted 1 star for 2 things: 1. The place had a weird smell. I think there carpet was not cleaned up. It was difficult to find a seat with proper cleanliness. 2. The salad which we ordered was bad. I went to this place with my roommate. We ordered Malai Kofta, salad, garlic naan and lachha parantha. Apart from salad all the three items were pretty good. The malai kofta was soft and it would just melt while eating. The breads were crisp and well cooked. If you are looking for a place with good ambience then this is not your place for sure. I think the place is also good for big groups and parties.

I met up with OG Unilocaler Tulie L for lunch. We were looking forward to the buffet, but they only have ordered meals on Monday at lunch. I chose the Chicken Jalfreezi(medium spicy(, which was shown in pictures, but not listed in the dishes on the menu. Tulie chose the lamb vindaloo, spice level 7(out of 10). The lunch meals come with soup, pakoras, rice, channa masala, and dessert. The soup was so good! Very flavorful broth with some starchiness and cilantro. It really hit the spot. The pakoras were great, too — not too greasy. My chicken jalfreezi was quite good. I liked that it was a lot of spice without the heavy, creamy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love creamy sauce, but during the holidays, it’s nice to get something a little bit lighter but still full of flavor. The chana masala was also nicely spiced, with strips of fresh ginger. I chose the rice pudding for dessert, while Tulie chose the fried dough ball(I don’t remember the name). The rice pudding was light and tasty, but the fried dough was soggy and bland. The space was empty. We tried to use our Scoutmob, but as is typical of these places for lunch, it doesn’t apply to the lunch menu.

Sitar is a comfortable, nicely appointed Indian restaurant located on Holcomb Bridge Rd., in a shopping center anchored by a Kroger, Chick-Fil-A and a wine shop. My wife and I have eaten at Sitar several times and we have enjoyed our meals. The menu is fairly typical of most Indian food restaurants in the metro area, although there are a few interesting dishes. I generally visit a restaurant at least 3 or 4 times before writing a Unilocal review. In the case of Sitar, I would have given it 4 stars prior to my last meal there. This past week, my wife and I invited another couple to dine with us at Sitar. Our friends are pescetarians so our selections were either fish dishes or vegetarian dishes. This evening, the restaurant was out of salmon, which was our friends’ first choice, so we ended up with what they claim was grouper. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was brought to our table already uncorked — the wine was bad and, while we were not charged for it, I have never been to a restaurant that serves bottled wine already opened. I am fairly certain that the bottle they tried to serve us was not newly opened. Such a practice causes me to question the freshness and accuracy of everything else on the menu. In addition, we ended up waiting well over 40 minutes for our food — which, in my view, is excessive. So, while the food has been above average, I would deduct a star for questionable ethics and another star for how long it took for us to be served. I expect that my wife and I will return to Sitar but we will most likely order only vegetarian items and certainly no bottle of wine.
