Shamrock Tuckpointing

HIGHLY recommended. Our front porch was falling apart (to say the least). I was in desperate need of some tuckpointing. My husband called John and he, himself (the owner of the company) came out to give our family a free estimate. Could not be happier with our choice of masonry work. Professional, precise, and fair. We had our 90 year old home tuck pointed this year by John and his crew. It was a fairly extensive job… grinding out all the old and replacing with all new mortar. The results were exceptional. The workers were courteous and completely cleaned up after themselves. They would even knock on the door in the am to recommend we move our cars because of the potential dust! The pricing was the best out there and the workmanship was the best too. It came out perfect… we would highly recommend them!

John did a great job with our home tuckpointing. Great price, was low bid on the project, superior service, in and out in a day with no mess. And the house, it’s beautiful. Could not of asked for more.

We called several companies for an estimate on our small tuckpointing job. My husband found Shamrock Tuckpointing online and called for an estimate. We told John that it wasn’t anything big and he didn’t mind at all. He came out within a day or so and gave us a complete estimate, not only for what we thought needed done but what else actually needed done. Don’t get me wrong, this was not an up sale effort, we actually really needed more work than my husband or I realized (this was confirmed with the other two estimates we got, all suggested the same additional work). We mulled it over for a week or so and then I called John last night after hours to tell him we would like to go with him for the work. He called us first thing this morning and a crew was at our house within a couple of hours. They were very professional and courteous. They were great about the mess, had drop cloths and kept everything clean. We had our front steps done since they were starting to bow, it was a red brink and a red-​ish mortar and it looks just beautiful. They also did the back corner of the house where our gutters have eroded the mortar. The guy running the crew gave me suggestions on how to fix it so it wouldn’t happen again. They even got little pieces here and there from where we had pulled a cable cord off the house, above and beyond! They were quick and left the yard and everything as clean as they found it, we’re very happy with the service.

John showed up right on time to provide me with a quote to tuckpoint our condo building. Out of 4 quotes I received John’s was the most competitive and he finished the job right on schedule. I would use Shamrock again.

I called this company on April 18 & left a detailed message on their voice mail. No one ever called me back. And yes… I spoke slowly & left name & number twice. Not a way to run a business!

On 4÷28÷2012 John Gallagher was scheduled to arrive at my condo building from 9am-​Noon. He showed up at 1:30pm with a phone call at Noon saying he would be late. So all in I waited 4+ hours on a Saturday. He showed up (I noticed him walking around the building) but he did not knock on my door or ring my door bell. I then saw him walk to his truck, after a 60 second look at my building, and then he called me.
He stated that my building was already tuckpointed. That is a true statement. We have a number of trouble areas that need fixing. When I asked John to come back so I could show him the work we needed to have done, he said «No Thanks, the job is too small.» He also stated that he couldn’t believe I made him come «all the way up here» for such a small job. Again, he did give me a chance to show him the work we needed.
Needless to say, John was having a bad day, or he is a big important brick mason who only works on «big boy jobs» or he is just jerk. Either way there are thousands of brick masons in Chicago so we will get the work completed one way or another.
John needs some customer service skills and an website that better explains the types of jobs he likes to have — and he shouldn’t get mad when his prospective customers can’t read his mind when he has never met them face to face.

John and his crew were fast and efficient and did great work! They were hardworking and friendly and the job was done with the utmost professionalism from start to finish. It was completed in a timely manner and I will be recommending them to my friends and family.
