We specialize in the secure destruction of confidential and sensitive documents and materials. We are AAA — NAID (National Association of Information Destruction) certified for the mobile & plant-​based destruction of Paper/​Printed Media, Micro Media (CDs, floppys, digital tape, etc…), Computer Hard Drive & Non-​Paper Media. In order to maintain our NAID certification, we are required to adhere to the highest levels of security in the infomation destruction industry.

In addition, we provide for the destruction of branded material (product destruction).

We also offer secure document and data storage services in our 56,000 sqft. warehouse.

We are an eco-​friendly firm. 99% of our shredded material is recycled into everyday household items such as paper towels and bathroom tissue.

Kenneth Williams — President/​Owner, The Shred Authority

Ken Williams is the CEO and owner of The Shred Authority, a company founded in 2002, which he bought and re-​positioned in 2005. Ken received his MMA from Kellogg School of Management in 1998. Prior to purchasing The Shred Authority, Ken’s career placed him in a number of high-​level positions in business operations, systems analysis and financial controls positions at companies such as Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Dean Witter Discover. Ken possesses keen business acumen and an impressive business background. Moreover, Ken’s success in the secure destruction business has been recognized by peers as they elected him to serve as board treasurer of National Association of Information Destruction. NAID is the shredding industry’s association representing over 1,000 members internationally.

OMG, is anyone there listening about this receptionist??? I’ve used this place for years! The guy that used to answer was awesome. This new chick is nasty rude. She can’t talk nicely. I kept my cool and just asked my questions to reconfirm things. Seems the price has gone up. No biggie. At the end of the conversation I told her in a very nice tone. «You know you are very rude, you’ll get farther with a better tone. But thanks anyway.» Professional service, unprofessional customer service.

This is a great company for destruction services. I have spoken with the President in the past and he is professional and very helpful. However, his staff is very unfriendly. They give you the information you need and take care of your needs, but you always have the feeling that you are bothering them. It’s so easy to put a smile in your voice. If it were my company I would make sure they received customer service training, as it could very well make someone decide to go with the other guy.

I recently used The Shred Authority for a large amount of old papers. The was the fourth or fifth time I’ve used them. The service was great as usual and the staff was helpful. I was pleased to see that the office space was looking great too! Business must be going well!

Great company for the service, but the new receptionist blows. She answered the phone and then continued to have her side conversation that (I assume) she thought I couldn’t hear. Then she told me they can’t schedule anything with my company because the owner is gone for the day (this was Friday morning). When I asked if I could email them, she said he would be busy until Monday and wouldn’t check it and would not give me the email. Thanks for nothing lady, I went to another company that was willing to work with me immediately. 3 stars because our pick up guy is awesome and the service is inexpensive. Customer service needs work.

I went there today for the first time, after my go-​to place on the NW side closed. I only had one plastic bin of documents to shred, about 50 lbs, and it was only $ 10! That’s cheaper than the other place I had used, which charged 50 cents per pound. The employee working there was very helpful on the phone helping me find the place (under a viaduct across from Connies Pizza on Archer). I will definitely go there again for my future shredding needs!

Four bankers boxes shredded for $ 20, and I got to watch them do it, which was important to me. Call ahead to make sure they are shredding when you bring your papers to their facility. John was very professional and easy to work with.

BETTER THAN BRINKS!
About a year ago Brinks Document Destruction was bought out by someone else. Can’t even remember their name. Know why I can’t remember? THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! Used to have a monthly business account @ Brinks for a set fee for two 50-​gal containers for on-​site shredding. To make a long story short …
Thank you Shred Authority! We have been a customer for approximately 10 months and I can only say positive things about this company. I contacted their rep Dan from their website explaining our companies story/​concerns and he worked with us to provide a low cost on-​site monthly shredding of our sensitive documents. Excellent service at a good discount.
The company is Minority Owned an Operated, which is a plus in my book. Employees that come in monthly for the service really represent their company well. Very pleasant, professional and friendly. Just saw the invoice come in the mail for this month’s pick-​up and decided to finally write a review for them.

I’m about to move and so I’m going through tons of old bills. It would have taken hours for me to shred them all on my own, and I read about the Shred Authority on here. I dropped my bag of bills off for $ 5 and that was it! Couldn’t have been easier or more convenient! The guy I dropped the bag off with was very nice and professional. I will definitely use them again when I need to dispose of some hard drives!

Very professional and quick too. Our office used the Shred Authority last month to shred boxes for us. They came on site twice and shred over 150 boxes. The price was better than some other facilities and they were very efficient. They also send you a certificate of destruction, which is important for businesses.
Shred Authority destroys media, hard drives, etc as well. That is done on site and is calculated by the pound in most cases.
The employees are all very friendly and honest. Good reputation for a reason. I will definitely use again if our business has the need.

Bet $ 20 I ever spent. I moved my office recently and had a TON of sensitive document to shred. I could have taken a day and done it myself, but I know my time is more valuable than that, so I called these guys and got two full bags shred for $ 20. I must warn you that the place is hard to find.,…but they know their stuff!

After a big move, I had 11 black trash bags filled with sensitive documents that I needed to get rid of. Called several services that offered coming to the house but quotes were for several hundred dollars. Called John, and he quoted 5 – 10 dollars a bag. Dropped by his secure somewhat hidden location, and he personally took care of me. Great operation that appears more geared towards procession large accounts, but also accommodates smaller jobs. Highly recommend for both great value and service.

I recently moved out of the apartment I had lived in for 6 years and had a whole bunch of documents I needed shredded. (Three boxes full) I had a hard time finding anywhere that I could take residential files to be shredded. Then, I stumbled up on The Shred Authority. I drove down there and they took my three boxes and shredded them for just $ 15! The building was extremely secure. AND, John — a VP there — stayed after closing time on a Friday to make sure I could get there in the Chicago traffic. That’s customer service! If you need to shred personal items — I highly recommend The Shred Authoirty! Just make sure you call for directions.

Outstanding service, very professional, very friendly, very reasonable. I took about 50lbs of old financial, banking, and sensitive documents and was able to watch my docs get shredded via their live shred cams. Optionally you can receive an official destruction receipt.
Be sure to click the PDF map they provide on their Contact Us page to see how to enter their premises, googlemaps won’t cut it.
FYI: The majority of their output is converted to paper towels.
