Grand Targhee Resort is a year round resort on the Western slope of the Tetons. With over 500 annual inches of snow, you’ll find the best skiing in Wyoming. Winter activities include skiing and snowboarding, cat skiing, Nordic skiing, fat biking, snowshoeing, sleigh ride dinners, evening snowcat tours, and nature tours. Summer activities include mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, down hill biking, scenic chair rides, kids camp, climbing wall, Euro Bungy, guided nature hikes, world-class fly fishing, Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park tours, and swimming. Slopeside lodging offers great access to the mountain and trails. With three different lodging types, we have something that fits any style and budge.
History
Established in 1969.
Grand Targhee Resort opened December 26, 1969 with the first paying customer being Allen Driggs. The local folks of Teton Valley were instumental in establishing Grand Targhee Resort. In 1996 Grand Targhee Inc. was found by east Idahoans. The resort opened and was officially dedicated by then Govenor Samuelson on February 2, 1970. Bill Robinson, a plasitcs manufaturer from Cincinnati, Ohio, purchased Grand Targhee iin 1975. Robinson was smitten with this are from the onset. Though primarily an absentee owner, Bill and his family loved the area and visited frequently. In 1978 Grand Trghee Resort was purchased and operated by Mory and Carol Bermeyer. They improved the resort and put Grand Targhee on the map. In 1978 the resort was purchased by booth Creek Ski Holdings. In 1997 the first high-speed quad was installed. Planning has begun for an expanded base lodge and a new chair to the top of Peaked Mountain.
