Mercedes Strachwsky, owner of Bake Me A Cake is internationally recognized in the cake industry. Mercedes creates one of a kind cakes and cupcakes using fondant. Her attention to detail has placed her in to Top 10 Cake Artists of North America and helped her win the Grand Prize in the Grand National Wedding Cake Competition.

Established in 2001.

Bake Me A Cake is a family business that began with a dream over ten years ago. Although originally started as a small family bakery it has grown to include gourmet cupcakes and cake decorating classes.

Business Owner

Mercedes Strachwsky is a self-​taught cake designer. She was born in Popayan, Colombia and came to reside in the United States in 1980. She has been married to architect and pastry chef Alex Strachwsky for 37 years and has three children: Andy, David and Michael.

As a child Mercedes was always fascinated with art. Her love of nature inspired her to become very creative as a young girl. She discovered cakes when she ordered a birthday cake for her son and was not happy with the results. She began a hobby in cakes and it continued to grow. As she continued creating new ideas for cakes her passion grew into teaching. Mercedes is great with people and loves sharing her gift with others. This led to teaching locally and internationally sharing her passion with many. She was an active member for the organization ICES and in a 1995 committee meeting she was asked to create the state show cake for the 1997 ICES Convention.
