Do you, for whatever reason, need a mascot costume, a campaign fountain, and a sack of the most realistic looking cockroaches you’ve ever seen? Baxter’s can seriously take care of that. What’s that? You also need a powdered wig and 300 pencils that say «Happy Martin Luther King Day»? Done. That’s how Baxter’s rolls.
Really, it’s the best party supply store in the world, but it’s also so much more than that. It has this magic, dark, mysterious feel, like that place where Pee Wee shops at the beginning of Pee Wee’s big adventure. As a kid, going there was like Christmas. As an adult, it’s been the answer to every event (birthday to fundraiser to parade float) I ever take part in.
Next Easter, if you $ 10, you can fill your kids’ eggs with some of the weirdest little goodies and still be able to afford Easter grass for the baskets.
Even if you have nothing coming up, swing in just to look around. It’s a neat shop.
