History
Established in 1872.
Founded in 1872 as a General Store with Horse and Buggy delivery, W. S. Lee & Sons is one of the oldest food distributors in America. The company began delivering staple food items to its customers with items in dairy goods… Butter, Cheese & Eggs.
From the early 1920’s through the 1970′‘s, W. S. Lee & Sons was a contracted distributor of Kraft Foods, and serviced grocery stores and restaurants in Central Pennsylvania. The company began specializing in Foodservice in the 1980’s, and following market trends, strong growth collimated in 2005 with a fleet of 100 trucks, and distribution to customers in 11 Northeastern states. The company peaked in 2005 winning national honors and was one of he premier independent food distributor for UniPro (the largest Cooperative of Food Distributors in the World).
Today, W S. Lee & Sons, a full line distributor, has moved back to its roots, servicing customers in Central Pennsylvania with branded products and strong customer service.

Robert L.
Business Owner
Robert Lee is the Great Grandson of W. S. Lee. Born in 1961 to Walter and Miriam Lee, Robert grew up with his brother Jamie in the family business working summers and after school in operations. As graduate of Altoona High School. Class 1979, and Juniata College, B.S. Business, Class 1983,
Robert helped oversee the company with his Dad and brother. In 1998, Robert was named President/CEO, and helped lead the company to outstanding achievements. Losing to a hostile take over of the company, the family became disassociated with LEE Foodservice, which ultimately failed under its new management. Robert Lee, holding the trademark to W. S. Lee & Sons, leads this new start up full line foodservice distributor.
