Amelia Island Plantation

We came here for a business conference. Great accommodations for a large group. Very clean and nice. Bob’s Steakhouse, Verbana and 29 South are excellent restaurants.

Beautiful resort in Florida
including sea beach with fine sand, pools, spa, golf, funny mini-​golf, great meeting place.

Went here for a tennis tournament with the girls. While the lobby and bar along with the tennis facility was exceptional, the rooms are awful and dated especially for the price and how they’re labeled as «upgraded». We got there late as we drove, was told we were put in an upgraded room. We got in and the room was very outdated, last upgrade was more likely in the 90s lol. The fans all squeaked, and there was a sign on air conditioner not to turn it on. It’s the summer and absolutely can’t sleep in a room hot and muggy. The kitchen was usable but very old, laminent counters and the crappy apartment electric stove and there were no common condiments like salt, pepper, sugar and cream in stock. The tvs were at least 20 years old and wouldn’t properly work. We tried calling the concierge and front desk on numerous occasions, and especially right at check in, no one answered after 10 tries and we were far away to drive back plus we were so tired. Would not stay here again if they don’t upgrade the unit

Disappointed by the service and lack of staff. Great views and area though. Beautiful pools, one for adults, one for kids or families, lots of choices of restaurants and shops in the area, and things to do.

I pretty much grew up here and so am a bit biased (my grandparents are permanent residentes here). I don’t see this place from the tourist point of view, so my experience may be not applicable.
Short: Heavily forested, quiet, secluded, relaxing spa/​golf/​beach resort with a myriad of housing options for every budget.
Long: Amelia Island Plantation I’ve been going to since 1995 and I’ve stayed at about 15 of the 30 – 40 different sub-​properties within the gated Plantation resort area: Amelia Island Inn (now renovated for the third time), Sandcastles, Beachwood, Beachside, Turtle Dunes, Beachwalker, Shipwatch, Sandpiper, Sea Dunes, Little Dunes, Sea Marsh, Courtside, Windsong, et al. I’ve even rented out at least 2 – 3 different private homes through the Plantation using a system that most resembles today’s AirBNB. The properties are all very different, and I’ve stayed at some for a long as a month and as short as a weekend; so there is really no way to score the Plantation based on anything but the aggregate score of staying at all these properties plus the spa/​gym, the restaurants inside the property, the beach, the Ocean Club, running/​bike trails, golf courses, corporate office staff, general cleanliness of the property, and 24 hour security. Overall, with all of these things in mind, the Plantation deserves 5-​stars for decades of excellence in these categories.

This is our first trip back here since they began remodeling and renovating the property and I love the changes they have made. We stayed in the beach walker Villas and they are very nice, a short walk to beach and awesome views! The renovated pool area is great as well. The restaurants on property are ok, but we always venture out to nearby towns for more interesting choices. There are lots of activities on property for kids as well, the nature center, kids camp, tennis, golf, bike rentals and Segway tours and mini golf. Will definitely come back again and again!

We dined at the Sunrise Café for Christmas Brunch and it was simply divine! We made reservations 3 days prior and were surprised to receive the exact time slot requested! We arrived a few minutes early and had a drink at the bar. We had no idea that bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s were included!
We only waited a few minutes to be seated while we sipped on our cocktail! Our table was within view of the ocean. The dining room was beautiful and comfortable. The tables were roomy and not right on top of the next.
We were quickly greeted my our waiter Ryan which looked like he stepped right out of a gap ad. He was polite and a wonderful server. Very attentive!
We started with the salad buffet. Three different salad options in rocks glasses. My husband and I both opted for the salad with the grilled peaches, pecans and goat cheese… we are nothing if not Southern!
We then made our way to the breakfast room. This was a lovely room set up that includes: pastries, hot breakfast items, granola, fresh Florida honey, a raw bar and made to order eggs Benedict with several hollandaise sauce options. Did I mention they also had gluten free items!
I have 3 words for you to remember… Anson Mills Grits! These were the best grits I have ever had and that’s saying a lot coming from a girl raised on them. They were thick and creamy and no salt required!
The raw bar included: oysters, tuna, grouper, shrimp and salmon! With the cutest accompaniments like mini okras!
The hot food selection included: ham, turkey, green bean casserole, yellow rice, stuffing, gravy, butternut squash soup and some other items I forgot! Delicious all of it!!!
Then there was desert!!! This included bite size: pumpkin tarts, pecan pies, chocolate coconut cake, crème brûlée, Apple crisp with warm caramel sauce, bread pudding and made to order bananas foster!
This was such a great foodie experience and we will be back for Easter! It was only $ 49 each. I would have spent more at the store and had leftovers I didn’t want or need for days! Such a good decision! Superb job!!!

Fantastic place to stay! Everyone is very kind, especially the front desk attendant Casey. He was so incredibly helpful and genuinely kind. He showed us places we should go, and events to attend, along with other things to experience on our stay. The beds and pillows were Ah-​mazing. The entire room was gorgeous, and we saw everything from the balcony, including a bunch of Dolphins in the morning! The pools were perfect temp, and had a separate pool just for adults which was a great get away. The beach was fantastic– water was so warm! You can rent your own chairs and umbrella for very cheap. Great stay, will definitely come back again.

End of day two of four. We have a four year old and have had a lot of activities to do and a couple others planned for later. Nature center staff is great. Can’t compare to other resorts but overall everything is above average here. Great staff all over the property. I like the comfortable hotel room, pools, fire pits, easy beach access, sunrise on the beach, Tree canopies make nice views for walking around or biking. One poor experience at Oceanside restaurant. Food was below average there for the price and staff not attentive this evening. Loved Marche Burette deli/​market choices for quick and easy food and their steak night barbecue. We will most likely be leaving plantation to have more and better restaurant choices including for breakfast. Looking forward to more pool and beach time.

This a review of the Villas, as the hotel was booked. Long story short, the «Villas» are nothing more than a run down apartment/​condo. It did not have Wi-​Fi nor did it have service for phones. Finally, trying to get from the Villa back to the main area is a chore with trams that rarely come. Definitely will not return.

Very nice hotel because of it’s location close to the altlantic ocean. Just leave the hotel and you’re right at the beach. Heated pool with a nic view. Floors and stairs need renovation. Great wide beach right in front of the hotel.

very nice room — every room has a view right onto the ocean. Spend the morning with a coffee on the balkony enjoying sunrise. Comfortable bed. Aircondition, huge Flat-​TV, WLAN, coffee machine. bathroom could be renovated but enough hot water.

Amelia Island Plantation is a 1,350-acre Florida beach resort. My husband and I stayed here in early December and the weather was surprisingly nice, although not nice enough to swim in the water. The area is very remote and quiet. At the resort there are acres of villas, a 3.5 mile strip of private beach and they are completing a second hotel by the end of 2012. The resort does offer a shuttle service so it is easy to get around the resort without jumping into your car.
The resort provides many amenities including a spa, gym, hotel pool, restaurants, tennis courts, golf, a few shops. I used the spa during our visit and was disappointed at the lack of amenities at the spa. I was expecting to spend several hours at the spa, but there was no jacuzzi hot tub, steam room or dry sauna so once my spa service was finished I just showered and left. The spa should reduce their prices if they are not going to provide any of these typical spa amenities.
I also worked out at the resort’s fitness center during my stay. The gym was small, but had a decent selection of weight machines and the cardio equipment included built in tv sets. The locker room amenities were pretty much nonexistent so I ended up not showering in the locker room and took the shuttle back to my room so I could shower there instead.
Overall, we had a nice and relaxing vacation and enjoyed being lazy and getting room service, but the area was just a little too quiet for my taste. I would only consider returning to the Amelia Island Plantation if they update and remodel the facilities on-​site.

My sister is in love with this spa and would definitely give it five stars. I think she is mostly in love with the area [Amelia Island Plantation], which is gorgeous, and the drive out there [Hecksher Drive… lovely]. The spa itself is very nice, but does not offer some of the amenities that I have come to expect in a top rated spa experience.
For instance, there is no hot tub, no steam room, or no pool on site at the spa. There is also nowhere to sit outside, or anywhere to get food served to you or a beverage. The locker rooms are small and somewhat cramped, but still very nice. And they also have the MOST AWESOME steam shower. If you go there, you have to try it. It fills the shower stall, all granite, with steam and it is a luxurious experience. You will never want to leave the shower.
Another major plus for this place are the treatments. The rooms are very nice and I have gotten one of the best massages of my life here and highly recommend trying one out for yourself. They come in 50 minutes and 80 minutes packages and if you can afford it, go for the 80 minutes. It is blissful. You will walk out of there a different person. A much nicer, more relaxed person.
All in all, a great spa for its treatments and its location.
